"o/~TODAY'S YOUR BIRTHDAY!o/~"

Abigail: BAD timing, Joker.
Joker: So... how old are you?

Abigail: NEVER ask that question.
Joker: I shouldn't have given you that Babylon-5 OSD. You're going all Kosh on us.

On the flipside, I picture my canon-Hawke as male, and I just find myself randomly drooling over him, like watching a movie with an exceptionally handsome leading man. Is that how it is for some male femshep players I wonder?
Just as long as you don't end up at this point, I'm sure you'll be fine.

Same thing. In Mass Effect the Shep happens to be female, at least for me. But, for example, in Kotor it is definitely male Revan.Influ wrote...
@ELE08
Well it sure is more appealing to watch a female backside shake around for the 20+ hours of gameplay. But there's no drooling involved for me.

Mikaela: Yeah... Happy... birthday...

Joker: Mikaela drinks too much, don't you think?
Diana: She can afford it today. This is her birthday too.
Joker: I'm more worried for our ship you know...

"Guys, I'm touched...but this really isn't the time."

On the catchphrase front, I think the soldier Myddine really might use 'more dakka!'.
Vangaurd Myddine might use 'one shot, one kill' (charged and dropped!).

That sounds so sweet. Can't wait for Vanguard action on bigger battlefields. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/happy.png[/smilie]
Indeed. Argh though, why do I keep reading these articles. Stupid spoilers. I wish there was a way to read the spoilers, get excited, and then mindwipe that info in 7 months.

you should see Kaidan rejection thenits equally sweet, though it doesn't stop the romance like it does with Garrus. I posted a comment on your blog, explaining how I felt about Kaidan in ME2 situation, but I can see how different people could react differently. the only thing I don't get is the hate.
Yeah I always thought Amelia would be Kaidans girl. She may still be. But after what happend with ME2 shes still a little upset and overwhelmed by everything. Understandable because of the poor story arc ME2 had for the VS. Additionally seeing ME3 trailer had me thinking I want!! (and as you know im not just talking about ME3 but a certain person in it!)
So yes its very understandable and quite interesting in a way. However from what I can see you meet Kaidan again really early on. So Amelia heart may start up again.
It would be easier if I took their relationship in the style ele did with Caroline and Bishop. But I cant do it! Amelia's not like that!
(Still only have serious face Amelia so far so bear with me :innocent:)

It's especially rare that nobody ever questions her capability based on her gender.

I never really drooled over FemShep, no. Not until I saw this anyway...

I'm sort of jealous how you gals can much better relate to your femsheps. I'd imagine it makes her even more awesome.
Strange thing, that. I do put pieces of myself into my female characters like femshep, so at least partially they're an extension of myself.
On the flipside, I picture my canon-Hawke as male, and I just find myself randomly drooling over him, like watching a movie with an exceptionally handsome leading man. Is that how it is for some male femshep players I wonder?
Its strange. Im not sure how to explain it. Im really struggling writing this and don't think im conveying what I actually mean very well...
I still relate to my femshep dispite my gender because I made her who she is. She takes on the paths I choose for her and I give her my aspirations and feelings. Therefore I dont think being female means you relate to your femshep any easier. After all I am taking her role and walking in her shoes. I am letting myself feel the feelings she would have to make my experience more enjoyable. Afterall those feelings and decisions (except for with your LI) can also be done by a male Shepard. Gaming is escapism and we all feel an affinity with our Shepards. Im not blind I can easily see shes beautiful and talented and all round amazing. But even girl gamers know that about their femsheps too.
However im talking about my specific Shepard's im investing myself into there. If I look at Teagan or Noah for example I feel something different. I look at them from a different viewpoint entirely, where I see her in the light of a beautiful leading lady. I know the story she has is simlar to mine, but its not the same and I build a different set of feelings for femshep. Therefore in this situation I do see her in external role of a gorgeous lead lady. Its a different form of attachment as you dont have control over her. It is like a cinematic experience where you are watching someone elses character and growing a bond with a seperate personality. Its almost like meeting a new person sometimes. Everyone is differernt and those differences can be embedded into a character creation. So yes in this case ele's "...I just find myself randomly drooling over him, like watching a movie with an exceptionally handsome leading man." Is pretty much spot on. Denying it would be just silly. But even if I spend time looking at Amelia and just think "wow she looks great" It is a different set of feelings entirely. Its more of a sense of pride in her then anything else. Or is it a sense of pride in myself for allowing her to exist?
So is it context? I think how you invest your emotions define your feelings for femshep. You can view her in a multitude of ways becuase there are dozens of ways to play her and define her personality. Additionally its based on if you want to invest a type of emotion or create a strong emotional attachment. Your own sheps will always hold a different meaning, as its based on how you play her and how you set up your emotions. Are you playing her as you? Or is it just a bit of fun?
So am I one of a minority of male gamers? Im unsure, but I really dont feel being male makes me see femshep in a substantially differnent way to how girls see her. Of course I will have different feelings for others femsheps (so will everyone), but when I discuss about mine, instantly I feel im on exactly the same wavelength as everyone here because we are all speaking from the same position and standing point.

When I create a character I make her out to be exactly like who I want her to be. It's kinda like making a movie, or writing a book. I think of how she is gonna look like, when I'm in the middle of the character creation phase. Her appearance is mostly based on the way I want her personality to be, and sometimes it's mostly based on her background. I don't necessarily base my characters on myself, since I want variety in terms of personality and background. It would be redundant for me if I created the same thing over and over again. I like playing characters who isn't like me, because only then can I truly feel like I'm running the show.
Yeah, it's the same with me. It's "third person role playing".

I also root for them and their girlfriend, Liara. They deserve some happiness amidst all the death and destruction around them. I've got a major crush on the blue goddess but I roleplay the relationship with how it fits my characters...not how it fits me. I could never play as an avatar of myself and act out my fantasies via my Shepard. I find that creepy. No offense if this is what some like.
