Ramblings aside, I'm in need of a new femshep art project.  Any scene anyone would be interested in seeing, femshep related?  This could include any femshep, multiple femsheps, or other squaddies. 

I like the idea of a FemShep/ Squaddie shore-leave party at "Flux"....Kallen (with a cigarette hanging from her lips) arm wrestling Grunt (or Wrex), Kyrie and Noah fighting over Kaiden , Maddy enjoying a glass of Scotch and chatting with Garrus at the bar, Jessica haveing a drink with Adml. Hackett, someone bouncing Conrad OUT of the party etc.....You get the idea.

Finally figured what I was doing wrong and why nothing was working properly.  But I solved it and I got a couple of mods working!

Also what brightness levels do you guys and girls play on.  I cant seem to get a good balance between shadows.  My game is either too bright or too dark.

The only thing I changed in game was the brightness, which I have on +1. But there are a number of lighting options if you run the configuration application and look under Video. I have everything to do with lighting and shadows turned on and the number of cinematic lights set to 3.

You can also flatten the lighting some what by opening the GamerSettings.ini file in Notepad and adding the following line to the SystemSettings section:

DepthOfField=False

The file should be located here if you have ME2 installed to the default location:

Users\\*your name*\\Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 2\\BIOGame\\Config

I wouldn't recommend playing the game with DepthOfField disabled, but it's useful for getting rid of really harsh shadows if you just want to grab some screenshots. To turn it back on just change False to True, save and you're done.

And since there's nothing even remotely femshep related in this post, here's an example of the DepthOfField effect, enabled and disabled

I agree. I was quite pleased how well this one turned out and seemless the composite was. That is the hardest part about doing these "Noir" composites, finding a screen cap with the correct lighting, expression and camera angle to match the base image you are using.....and making it look right.

Thats my issue!   Thank you Akari     I will have a play around a bit more tomorrow.  I knew it wasnt so much brightness but the way shadows were reflecting off her varius facial vectors.  But I wasnt too sure because some setting like Omega are just really dark anyway.   Thats a massive help so thank you again!


I was getting a bit fustrated to be honest.  I asked Zaeed first and he just looked at me like "WTF??!! Are you talking about"

I'm all for the multiple FemSheps, commanders was just freakin' awesome.
Flux, AfterLife, Kasumi's bar, Dark Star, maybe the Presidium or Int'sei. Ooh, a poker game, like all those paintings and stuff people do. FemShep Poker Game

If your taking personnal requests for certain FemSheps, then I'm sure people would never say no to that, either.

I just mess with the brightness/contrast sliders during cropping if things come out too dark

I don't really like the brightness setting either. Anything above the default setting makes the picture sort of washed out.

I found a tweak that adjusts the games dynamic shadows so they don't appear overly dark everywhere. Here is the post. There isn't that clear instructions so here you go:

1. Go to your Mass Effect 2 install folder and from there to Engine -> Shaders

2. Locate and backup the file UberPostProcessBlendPixelShader.usf and open it with a plain text editor (like Notepad or Notepad++).

3. Find this line: float3 x = max(0,InLinearColour-0.004);

4. Change the line to: float3 x = max(0,InLinearColour);

5. Save the file and fire up the game to see the results.

If the result is too bright for your liking, you can use a lower value than 0.004 instead. And here's the comparison shots I took when I applied the tweak.

I really like Roxanne!    And your right Vanguards are awesome!   I was a soldier in ME and made her a Vanguard in ME2.  Most likely will stick with it, but I always seem to change my mind

lol! I like them all too....never can pick my absolute favorite.  Would have to say it would be the first one though..

The last one was a photoshop "quicky"  that I did from a great shot that ELE got for me that really shows Maddy's dark side...that came into being as a result of her parents death.

Unless you want FemShep to have Jack's tattoos.  Hey Jack, I like your tattoos so much I went out and duplicated them EXACTLY!  We're like twi--*singularity*


I'm feeling inspired--will wait to see what other ideas come up.  A lot of down-time ideas, but I like the thought of a bunch of fully armored ladies with biotics/tech/guns blazing.  Of course, biotics/tech/guns blazing can happen during down-time.  It's funnier that way.  FemShep bar brawl!  Kallen accidentally punches a Krogan swinging at Conrad, hilarity ensues.
