That's an awesome shot, Shenzi. The way the biotics are flowing off Tris it makes her look like a water elemental.

And... singularity is not friendly to screenshots hehe... the warping effect is... tricky. It disrupts a lot of angles. Still!

Flycam is getting better!

The biotic effetcs can mess up any chance of a good screenshot because of the warping, but when you get it right, they look amazing.

I don't really like the brightness setting either. Anything above the default setting makes the picture sort of washed out.

I found a tweak that adjusts the games dynamic shadows so they don't appear overly dark everywhere. Here is the post. There isn't that clear instructions so here you go:

Thank you so much for sharing this, I just did it myself and tested it out and am really happy with the results. I've been tweaking a good portion of my screenshots in photoshop to fix the lighting issues.

You should probably calibrate your display. Here's quick test for black level and for white saturation. This should be smooth without banding.

I use the default brightness/gamma settings for all games. I have checked my monitor gamma level with Spyder 3 Pro and adjusted it correctly. My display has pretty decent picture quality considering that it has TN panel. It can show difference between #010101 and #000000 (i.e. all black boxes are visible in above test, black to white gradient is smooth). It shows much more dark detail than any other display I happen to own. White saturation is good too. Games like Mirror's Edge looks good and light colours are detailed too (all bottom row grey boxes are visible in above white saturation test). Colour saturation could be better, like with any TN panel.

Good dark colour production is really important for ME2 or stuff will just look black without any detail.

I can spot pretty easily when people have changed the default in game brightness/gamma. In those cases they have usually made it look brighter. On my display those look really, really washed out.

Laptops usually have rather nasty displays, at least my laptop display sucks big time.

Shenzi's talented and I'm very fortunate that she's become such a Photoshop Goddess -- since I'm an xbox player I wouldn't have any screenshots to enjoy but thanks to Shenzi, I get cool shots of Tris, like this one!

Thank you for those links. 

This is the shot I was working with to test the change Influ linked a few pages back and the black level / white saturation as you suggested. Before it was way too dark to be useable without adjusting in photoshop but now it's fine just the way it is.

I have actually used that Lagom site for calibrating my displays. I just don't like the default shadowing in ME2. It casts dark shadows even in some well lit scenes, where it really doesn't make any sense. It looks quite awkward in my opinion.

Thanks for the link to that lagom picture test thing, I knew nothing about this monitor and now that I've got the blacks turned on high... sooo much better. So very much better. Awesome. Off topic but it was the awesomeness of the femshep thread that let me fix that. Lets me get glorious images like this one of Cat. Just realized I missed an achievement for Arrival so... since she was there...

I do keep the gamma cranked up in my game, mostly for videos. If I don't, they turn out extremely dark during the process of editing and uploading them. It looks better to capture on a higher gamma setting then try to crank up the brightness in Vegas.

Thanks! When I first got my new system up and running, I was drooling over the new graphics and sat there playing with my Adept getting flycam shots for like half an hour. XD

I tried out those settings Influ posted. I'm sort of conflicted. I like the softer shadows, but it seems slightly washed out to me... not sure. Here's a few shots with regular gamma settings, what do you guys think?

Think I might stick with the regular settings.

I noticed an immediate difference in mine when I changed it to high blacks instead of low and dropped the brightness some. The glare / bleed off of white bits of armor has dropped immensely. I noticed it a lot when I was using Aria's armor. Not so much now, and those pictures don't look to bright or dark for me. Not sure which way you are going. Now... I will kill all 5 waves, and I will do it on insanity, I will not lower the difficulty... Cat doesn't need any lower difficulty!

I've got all kinds of altered graphics settings in place, already. Pretty much the same ones that Tup uses (since he was kind enough to share). I'm quite fond of them!

Anyways, I got to take more pictures of Holly and Thane, so it's all good.
