Jennifer was trained by a personal tutor her Mama got her when she was young during her initial biotic training, she -her trainer- was a crazy perfectionist, but she taught Jennifer various hybrid techniques and forms of martial arts which involve biotics, and sometimes knives/blades/swords, and sometimes both.

Oh also, it was heavily inspired by Asari Justicars :D

Definitely. Sports and sparring are Devi's forte. Garrus is her favored sparring partner and sometimes Jacob, when he takes that stick out of his *ss!

I finally created a brief profile of Devi over at the FemShep site: femshep.ning.com/forum/topics/devi-shepard-an-overview .

I'll post the first portion here though:

   Image IPB

Let's call her "D" for short, Devi having never been her actual
name but simply a teasing moniker for a teenage girl who had her head
stuck in the clouds. At least, that is how D's friends saw her when
carousing around the streets of Los Angeles.
Not much is known of D's actual background save for some basics:

    1. Abandoned at infancy, she was taken in by a modestly sized, Catholic run orphanage.

    2. Her possible ethnic background ranges from Hispanic, Black, to
Pacific Islander....a true child of the 23rd century world.
    3. The last name Shepard was taken from a mentor and priest named
Thomas Shepard, a man who managed an alluring mix of faith and a
liberal world view. He taught D a respect for knowledge and tradition,
Earth's history and its current path. Perhaps this is where D developed
her trademark idealism. How fortunate that D's idealism is tempered with
her brief stint with a small time gang known as the Reds.

  Personality Traits:
Calm and collected to the point of seeming dull (sometimes!),
D's presence can instill confidence in the most cowardly of men. Her
leadership skills lay not in a blazing display of charisma, but in a
demonstration of physical strength and battle-hardened tactics. D's
humor is often understated and her inquisitive nature draws her to the
most unlikely of friendships.
Introspective yet not shy, D may at times find it difficult to
easily navigate social circles and her reserved nature can make her seem
aloof. What friendships she has, nonetheless, remain strong if not
always long-lasting. (Sole Survivor, anyone?)

 Skills:
In spite of her Cerberus upgrades D was always known to be
physically gifted in both strength and endurance. There is seldom a
moment when she regrets not having an Adept's magic touch, and she
secretly takes pride in having accomplished so much with distinctly
human limitations (not even Kaidan knows of this secret pride).
D is skilled with a variety of weapons along with bare handed
combat, the latter skill owing much to the petty street fights D had
when with the Reds gang.
As far as shortcomings go, never ask D to perform complex computer
maintenance or solve obscure calculus problems.....  She'd rather take a
punch to the face.

 Fun Facts:
    1. D learned fluent Spanish as a child, though this ability is
nearly pointless with the widespread use of universal translators.
    2. Can throw a mean fastball.
    3. Aside from her childhood mentor, D admires the Saint Joan of Arc.
    4. Is an agnostic theist.
    5. D is reluctant to admit that her initial reason for joining
the Alliance was to feel closer to a high school boyfriend two years her
senior (with the added benefit of escaping her poor surroundings).

Renée ran triathalons at the Academy, and she still runs on various 'gerbil gear' on board the Normandy.  She does keep up with basic hand to hand techniques, and has run a few drills on techniques for non-humans with some of the crew.  And yes, the image of her and Grunt (or Wrex!) working together to find out how a human could take on a Krogan and survive is mildly amusing.  As for sports, I figure she played in team building events, but she wasn't that into playing.

Nimue, I can see her taking up a martial art as an authorized way to beat people up.

Oooh, I do like the idea of Krogan sparring, especially biotic-enhanced Krogan sparring. I mostly don't want to punch any of the dudes on my ship because I don't want to hurt them. Less danger of that with the Krogan.

Well, there's always padded suits.  Also, most training here would be medium contact (you don't pull punches, but you aren't out to knock the stuffing out of them).  Full contact would be reserved for actual high end training.  I was envisioning something like the USMC's Marine Corps Martial Arts Program, though.

Bah, I was trying to set up a femshep/Mass Effect tumblr account, and the name I wanted is taken, but completely unused - not a single follow and not a single post. /sadface

Nobody here happens to have the janeshepard tumblr, right? I'd take it offa you, if you did.

to answer my own question, Kallen spars with Garrus regularly, even with Grunt at times. Mostly to test out the weaves she got during the course of the overall mission. Of course she knocks Garrus on his ass, and threw Grunt through a crate, which he thought was totally awesome.

Garrus is Kate's preferred sparing partner as well.

Having learnt combat tactics and the clear benefits of ranged combat Amelia primarily used to just go to the Gym for a work out.  Other then basic close-quater moves she never felt inclined to learn anything too technical.  After all she intended to kill anything with a gun before it got to close.

However with the Lazarus potect upgrades she was suddenly thrust in to close combat with her charge ability. Not only has this changed her physical workout but also the way she has treated a combat situation.   She quickly adapted, but has since discovered that she wants to improve her close encounter abilities.  She likes to train alone, but this is a slow way to learn.  So she trains and spars with her friend Garrus.  Additionally having been given such advanced biotic abilities so quickly she often seeks guidance and meditation techniques from Samara, who has been a great teacher for her in learning to focus her abilities.

Cara trains obsessively, she probably works out more than Jacob, which is saying a lot. She also has a thing for bare-knuckle cage-fighting with anyone unwise enough to take her up on it. Jacob did once--once. She didn't spend all that time in prison fights for nothing, her krav maga is to be *feared*.

Pretty much the only who came back for seconds was Jack. They have something of a rivalry.

Oh, and Zaeed. He keeps up with her.

I finally got around to making something new in photoshop after a couple of months of not being able to think of anything to do. It didn't turn out as I originally intended, but I'm quite pleased with the end result. :)

@Zeuss, I've always imagined that a Jacob romancing Shep, as rare as they are, would be working out with him haha.

Greetings FemShep thread! I have only recently begun playing female Shepard in ME. This is kind of strange, since despite being male I almost exclusively play female characters. My canon Warden was female (though I had male ones as well), my Hawke is female, my Revan was female (Exile was male though), my Bhaalspawn in BG1/2/TB was female. Until recently, ME was the exception to this rule, but that has recently begun shifting. I never played female Shepard at all, and am struck by the layers of emotion Hale manages to get into lines. This isn't knocking Meer, simply that the two have very different styles of delivery that lead me to RP the characters in different ways. As such, I feel I may end up making the transition completely to FemSheps by the time ME3 rolls around =/. Also migth actually be able to romance someone in ME2 considering I generally find the romances on the male side rather unappealing.

Tl;DR: New FemShep player. FemShep is awesome.

This one's for you, ADLegend:

Was getting some fraps footage and Miri decided to jump up in front of Kallen as they were fighting the baby reaper. I couldn't see around Miri's butt to shoot at the dang reaper, and Kallen didn't seem inclined to tell her to get out of the way. She seemed...distracted.

I don't think you can decide that just yet. Needs more screenshot research to determine.
