"Los combates serán más intensos que nunca, con una velocidad entre un 10% y un 15% mayor. Se ha prestado especial atención al combate cuerpo a cuerpo, que ha sido ampliado y mejorado hasta el punto de dar pie a una nueva clase que permitirá sacarle todo el partido: el 'Heavy Melee.'"
So the interpretation of this as a Heavy Melee class wasn't a translation error--it specifies that it's a new class. If there's any error, it's because the journalist misunderstood the information he was given by BioWare.

Thanks for the video! It was a really touching tribute. I found that part of the game very emotional -- and I hadn't even played ME1, so it wasn't like I was already attached to Shepard. That sequence made me love FemShep from the get-go.
Thank you Shinobu, glad you liked it.
Like you I came late to the party with ME2 and that sequence was both powerful and poignant. It truly set the scene for the epic journey that lay ahead of us.

Anyway, I kind of want to look at spoilers but I kind of don't. I'm torn. I really loved playing ME2 without looking at hardly anything. I almost want my FemShep's adventures to be a surprise.

Expecting Anderson to walk in at any moment, meanwhile Joker is goofing it up as always.

Ah, screw it if Anderson comes in. I'm looking out that window!
Sorry about the window bar. I'll try to keep those out of future pics.

Okay, so here's the relevant quote:
"Los combates serán más intensos que nunca, con una velocidad entre un 10% y un 15% mayor. Se ha prestado especial atención al combate cuerpo a cuerpo, que ha sido ampliado y mejorado hasta el punto de dar pie a una nueva clase que permitirá sacarle todo el partido: el 'Heavy Melee.'"
So the interpretation of this as a Heavy Melee class wasn't a translation error--it specifies that it's a new class. If there's any error, it's because the journalist misunderstood the information he was given by BioWare.
The article that quote was taken from isn't the actual magazine article, just a piece written for a Spanish-language fansite by someone who's actually had the article. Here's the actual relevant quote from the magazine:
"El combate cercano toma tanta relevancia que incluso se ha creado especificamente una nueva clase que aproveche las habilidades del heroe, 'Heavy melee'. Este no sera el unico cambio al sistema de clases..."
After that it goes on to talk about how any class can use any weapon type. My Spanish is not fantastic, but I think that translates roughly to:
"Close combat plays a bigger role, they have even created a new class to take advantage of the hero's skills, "Heavy Melee." This isn't the only change to the class system..."
Does that sound about right, ciaweth?
There's still room for interpretation there, and there's still the definite possibility of a misinterpretation on the part of the journalist, but as written, the most obvious interpretation seems to be that there's a new full class.

Song of the Siren
Here is a little video inspired by the accompanying music, ‘Song to the Siren’, a truly beautiful track.
I would like to think of it as my small contribution to this wonderfully creative body of femshep fans.
Hope some of you enjoy it. I will now return to lurking mode

I like that, the video and the song contrast very well together. Very nicely put together!!

I prefer to play games the first time around spoiler free as well, I played ME1 and ME2 without spoilers. I know a certain Staff Commander is in ME3 and that’s really all I wanted to know.thompsmt wrote...

I realised that it would not be to everyone’s taste, there is no guns a blazing, no biotic mayhem, so thank you for your kind comments. I was trying for a more emotional feel with the video, hoping for a touch of the melancholy. The song is about a mariner being lured to his death by the Siren so there is a tenuous relevance.

Well, I love all of his textures, but having Liara look good and consistent is important for me, since she's such an important character for my femSheps, and her LotSB look is her best look.
Also, random and off-topic but beer goggles amuse me.

Truly, I think it depends on the femshep. Some would outfit themselves in THE BEST gear they could find - hightech, sleek, something that's going to give them every possible edge. Others, like Kyrie, just go, "meh, tha'ts what barrier is for" and put on

i do so love the customization options though, in ME2. give us the ability to get jumpsuits back for ME3 and i'll be super happy.

Liara: I could have told you that if you'd asked for the blue sprints I had on the normandy.
Shep: shouldn't you just have said "oh hey Shepard you have a 100 inch TV in your room" so I wouldn't have to sit in here in the quiet falling asleep due to boredom?
Liara: but you never watched TV on the old normandy.
Shep: well I'm making up for lost time.

Myddine is firmly in the 'best gear' camp. As long as she's mining all these damn planets, she'll be working the armory's 3d printer like a rented mule
But there is definitely something to be said for beat up levis and cowboy boots!

Kate's a vanguard, and a slightly insane (okay maybe more than slightly) one at that so her armor might be high tech but it shouldn't look new and pristine.aimlessgun wrote...

Yeah I downloaded the textures and will have to figure out how to install/use them (I've written down some notes on renaming the EXE and using texmod) when I import my current character to ME2. I really like the screenshots I've seen so far.
Not too concerned about FPS since I'm running an i7 system with a 580GTX video card and the game runs full tilt at max driver settings.

Yeah, quite a few of my FemSheps are tech junkies. They love having cutting edge gear (especially Moira and Holly). I also have a slight obsession with armor customization. I love playing with the the armor parts, colors, patterns, etc. I hope they'll have more of that in ME3.

I also love the beat-up look of the old N7 armors. I never really used Onyx armor in ME1, because medium Colossus is so lovely, so it's also quite refreshing for me in ME2.
Also, I've been quite massively offtopic here lately. I offer this barrage of screenies as an apology.

Strangling mechs doesn't seem very wise.

Bring it on you piece of crap mech!

Get up close and finish 'em off.

And here's a link for my screenie album. I need to reupload most of my shots as I only recently made an account for my Mass Effect stuff. How silly of me. Should propably add that to my sig or something.

that's a good point. Shep should have her own line of gear eventually - kind of like how professional snowboarders get their own line of stuff - handpainted guns, etc.
now if i could only mod levis and cowboy boots for the normandy casual wear. sadly, my skills seem to run out at photoshopping of any kind. and the cargo pants don't have the right shape. you'd need the officer uniform on bottom and the t-shirt on top and that's just way too confusing. ah well, i don't see kyrie as dressing down that much on duty anyhow.

I have a save point right now just before starting LotSB, and since I love it so much, I'm gonna do it twice, both for fun and screenshot purposes, once with each armor. Good stuff. The only real problem will be with the exterior of the Shadow Broker ship, due to the lack of helmet. Oh well.
Here she is getting her Spectre status reinstated with Onyx medium.
