Look at it from the perspective of a newcomer. If he reads a title like this, he might think this thread is full of obsessive whiners, and might be turned off.

Funny, I never found the Calibrations thread to have such an exclusive atmosphere. Though I do acknowledge that fast-moving threads are hard to join in on for newcomers (and it's a shame the group feature on the forums isn't better).


And that's fine, Rynluna, you're the OP after all and you can do as you wish. I only felt a little criticism might be helpful but it seems to be attracting negative attention more than anything else. C'est la vie.

You're not really making your case that you're not coming in here to show off your persecution complex.

You've made your point about the thread title.  People have disagreed - politely so.  The owner of the thread has said that the title is not going to change.  You can continue to discuss why you disagree with the assertion that FemShep is a (tongue-in-cheek) Easter Egg, but I think most of us would prefer that be done in a different thread.  Particularly if your arguments are going to boil down to the above.

This is becoming an exceptionally silly and pointless topic of "discussion" if you don't like the thread and don't like the people in it then maybe you should go someplace more agreeable to you. I don't constantly stick my hand in a bear trap and then wax philosophically about why doing this isn't very enjoyable to me. How about instead of debating the perceived politics and trying to be some asinine example of fair and balanced opinion on a internet forum you actually try to engage with the people here. That's probably a better way to get to know people and be part of the discussions than just coming in and making a value judgement on people you barely know.

You might be surprised to find that isn't the best way to make friends with people. Much like participating is a better way to be part of something than not participating and occasionally complaining about how you don't instantly feel like part of the group.

I'm not sure it's a big enough deal to me to qualify as a complex one way or the other.  In any case, you're right - the point has been made.  There's not much more to say, it's not exactly a complicated issue.  

The thread - this and others - have every right to base titles on in-jokes, but pointing out that this might put people off isn't "angry" so much as it is a critical observation.  It's not a condemnation.

Who gives a damn about the thread title? The name is not important, the content inside is. No one probably cares about my opinion about the thread title (I would have picked something different myself) and it's not important what I think, but the fact that "femShep" is first in it is good enough to me.
