Thanks, Akodo, Deturis90.

I never even thought to use the Pen Tool. I've used the erasor tool both with a bursh and the block, layer masks, the magnetic lasso and the extract filter. Feel a bit stupid now, as I've used the pen tool for smaller things, but never thought to use it to cut out a character.

Pen Tool is extremely useful.

I mainly use pen tool as well, in combination with the soft-round eraser. I like to use the eraser to remove unwanted areas because it gives a softer edge to help with blending.

Alright! Thanks to Pordis Shepard's directions I managed to get a few good screenshots of my femshep. Had to use the save converter but oh well.

Here she is, Alyx Shepard (of distant relation to one Alyx Vance, my favorite female video game character):

-snip-

I was going for a hawk-ish, predatory look. This woman kills for a living, I wanted her to look like she did while still being attractive.

Her eyes are bright green because they are the most piercing color allowed by Bioware's character creator. I like how her cheeks accentuate her eyes but that was completely unintentional.

EDIT: Hope it works this time.

Wow, those cheekbones could cut glass ;)

I think you've definitely acheived what you were going for.

did I hear right ? they are going with long hair in ME3 becouse the hair is able to move now and not look so plastic looking . i thought heard it in game informer. if it true Isoke my femshep will have long hair

There are two ultimately trivial, cosmetic things that would make me SO happy if they added to ME3.  The first is the moveable hair that you mentioned, and the second would be allowing long-haired Sheps to change their hairstyle (I don't always want it down, you know?)

Granted there are other things that I'm hoping for which are a little more substantial, but it never hurts to ask, right?

This is also a cosmetic thing I would enjoy. But being a short-hair gal myself (chopped my own hair short a few years back and have stuck with short cuts ever since) i would also love to see more short and bob variants. i was watching the Matrix last night, and trinity's 2 styles - both in the matrix slicked back with the one piece of hair hanging down and out - longer and slightly more tousled - would be a lovely addition. and a short pixie cut with straight hair and decent bangs (my main complaint with the short cut 'afro' is the bangs are too short for many sheps) would be lovely.

imo, short hair is really well suited to active gals because it's off the back of your neck and yet you can easily get it into a helmet without having to deal with a ponytail/helmet crunch. whenever it's snowboardings season, my hair gets real short so i don't have to deal with that.

True enough.  I only mentioned long hairstyle 'quick-changes' because it seems easier to do IRL.  My wife has short hair, as well (only about 1" longer than mine) and she rarely does anything different with it on a day to day basis.

Would you be happy with a new selection of hairstyles to choose from if you had to stick with one?  Or would you like a handful of 'options' per style that you could switch between using a system like the armor selector?

Thanks. :3

She's based off the look of my canon Shep but with some extra tweaks. I strangely found the scarring to be more attractive the more I played her. >.>

I know it's not aimed at me, but I'd like to offer my opinion if that's OK. What I'd like is the hair to be much more realistic looking. It's so plastic and fake at the moment, even with ME2's improvements on it. I really only like one or two hair styles, and I don't use the others.

I think what I'd prefer is the hair, or headgear, to change depending on the situation. If Shep is wearing the visor, I'd like it so her hair either covers the back of it or is pulled back in some way rather than going through the visor. I'd also like some more 'pretty' hair styles that aren't unpractical. Kelly's is a good example of what I mean. It doesn't have to look like it'd be better suited on a model, though.

Agreed.  I only like a handful of the available hairstyles, and unfortunately they are rather unrealistic looking (though the ME2 hair is a VAST improvement over ME1's).

To throw my tuppence into the mix, I'm not a fan of most of the hairstyles available to Femshep.  My canon FemShep (good old Katie) has a modded blonde version of Kelly's hair style.  Cara (my current avatar and ME2 mod test bed) has the bun.  But that's mainly due to the severity of any other tied back hairstyles.  I posted this pic a while ago, but I like it so I'm posting it again.  This is the sort of ponytail I'd like in ME3:

Gotta tell ya, Noah doesn't appear often enough around here :) I believe she's a very personal look at Shepard. You know how there are painters who may do good-enough-looking work but in a generic way, and then there are painters who attract crowds because they've got a style you can recognize instantly? I think that's kinda what happens with Noah, too.

Thank you very much -- that's very nice of you to say. Image IPB

i don't mind sticking with a single hairstyle for a game. it gives the shep a certain "look." i just find the hairstyles that actually 'work' for shep are rathe limited. the pulled styles (which make of half the styles) virutally all look alike from most angles. the 'longer' styles seem too static. i jsut wish they had a greater range. but hey, i think they could have 50 styles and i'd probably still want more to play with. that's sort of just the girly side of me. :innocent:

I just want a good bob, the Chakwas one is ok but it's too neat and sophisticated for my liking...I like the messy longer one but till looks odd. My current FemShep is sporting a bun for the first time, looks good but again not my favourite.

I usually have a pixie cut myself but I've actually grown it past my shoulders. Quite wierd. the hair in DA2 was good, it bounced!

@jwalker: Just a random space scene I nabbed off the interwebz. I particularly looked for a greenish one to match the lighting on Klava's face. I tried fiddling with the colour changing tools on Photoshop but I can only learn so much in one day and admitted defeat. >.> Still, the space scene was pwetty so I'm happy with it anyway. :)

Tup, that is possibly the most bizarre shot I've seen in a while.

On the whole hair subject. I caved and decided to make a new femshep and I was going to go for one of the bun / ponytail haistyles, but they all looked pretty similar and didn't give me the look I wanted, so I ended up modding in the Kelly cut. They really do need to add a bit more variety. Like Sage says, a few more short styles would be nice.

So here's my new Shepard:

Image IPB

Claire Shepard / Sentinel / Colonist / Sole Survivor

I've run out of Valkyries to steal names from, so I gave her a standard everyday name. It does have a vague connection to Mass Effect though, as it's the name of a character voiced by Ali Hillis in another long running game series. An internet cookie for anyone who can figure it out.

As well as the hair style I also modded the colour of said hairstyle and her eye colour. I also got a bit daring with the CC and used different options that I hadn't used before. Though I still think she ended up looking like my other Shepard's. I seriously fail at character creation it seems. :pinched:

Haven't decided if I'm going to run her through ME1 yet or just add the flags through gibbed. Either way though she'll be my first Kaiden romancing Shep.

A couple more pics
