I never liked having helmets on unless obviously necessary (i.e. missions with no atmosphere). Most of that is aesthetics - I mean I created this face, I kind of want to see it. Helmets make sense to wear in combat, for the most part, but I think that as a sniper you'd want your senses to be as minimally impaired as possible. So that's how I RP it. But I wouldn't be averse to some sort of auto-engaging helmet system (like they use in Dead Space 2).

If I can, my sheps will use the breather mask when it's needed. If not, I don't mind seeing her on the SB ship exterior with no face gear at all, even if that doesn't make much sense.

The same goes for combat in general. I'm pretty sure my Vanguard would thank me some helmet or something. Constantly charging, shooting at point blank range and meleeing people to death might be hazardous to the head

Either way though she'll be my first Kaiden romancing Shep.

/highfive

and given the recent press screenshot, i imagine kaidan-faithful sheps will have an interesting story to enjoy in me3.

i'm wondering about sniper-guy. i'm tempted to pull an ELE and make a shep for him.  i keep thinking i'll make a shep to romance someone other than kaidan, but i just can't get into the aliens. i LOVE them as characters, don't get me wrong, but that always fails to translate to becoming engaged in the romantic subplot - for me at least. and no, AD, i won't romance jacob. seeing it through kallen/erisi's eyes was enough for me.

omg, can i just say i LOVE lili's look? it's just awesome. she keeps reminding me of a WNBA center who's ready to stuff you, steal the ball, throw elbows, and then trash-talk the ref.

Assuming all the spoilers we've been reading are true, I wouldn't bother.

Part of me is happy though. Now I won't have to kill off or otherwise character assassinate Bishop (Caroline's out-of-game LI) in fanfic. Because I might have been tempted.

So does this mean you're keeping Drea? You've made three pieces of work with her in by my counting. Or will she eventually end up in your overly stocked femshep graveyard? :?

I'm keeping her, she rounds out my collection.  Besides, look at this face.

Please don't send me to the graveyard, ELE, I have too much to live for!

Glad you like her, Sage.
That's sorta the vibe I wanted from her too, so that's good.

Just out of curiosity, based on the discussion of helmet philosophy above (my posts 1, 2), what about the rest of you?

How do helmets fit with your femSheps, and do you have any "in the game universe" reasoning for it? i.e. Do you just wear helmets or not for the look? Or is it part of your Shepard's character to do so or not?

It would be more realistic to keep helmet on but since this is a game and it doesn't matter much, I usually do not use it. However, I don't think that it looks bad on my Shep. Even the opposite since the hair in ME isn't that great. It does add realism - I keep helmet on for Sheploo and I would always wear helmet in army (even when it would be optional; that's rare, though).

That hair looks surprisingly good on her. When I tested it on my Shep, it looked like a hat.

Realistically, you would remove your helmet for all talking scenes and wear it in battle. However, since ME2 has no toggle option, you are forced to just leave it off.

In ME1, I guess I could technically toggle the helmet constantly back and forth...but I'm lazy. So I just leave it off and pretend I put it back on in combat

My Engineer wears the Umbra Visor because it looks like high-tech nerd glasses.

Other than that, I give them the Sentry Interface or the Kuwashii Visor because they don't cover much of the face.

I really hope they bring the toggle back for ME3.

Same here, on both counts.

If any of you are interested in Warhammer 40k, or have a high tolerance for universe-specific lexicon, then Enforcer is a good buy, IMHO. I wouldn't say Shira is very similar to FemShep, but she does kick backside.

The helmet discussion on the last couple of pages was interesting. I personally would rather helmets acted like they did in Dragon Age, where in conversations they weren't there, but showed up the rest of the time. It makes sense in combat.

However, my FemSheps use visors of some sort waaay too much.

OTOH, I did really like how everyone wore what was visibly armor in ME, including helmets. Breath masks stretch my suspension of disbelief a bit, and to be honest, while you could survive skin exposure to vacuum, eyeball explosions would not be fun.
