Quite the opposite. Besides having strabismus (a condition of the misaligning of the eyes), other features, (such as her nose), give her a low self esteem of her physical appearance. However, she is very proud of her accomplishments.

UJ is not a diva in the traditional sense, but she does carry a self righteous chip on her shoulder, for good or for ill.

UJ was more into music than anything else and her favorite band was the Clash. She sort of began as a rebel without a clue. Looking back, her parents were her heroes. They were very progressive and did not believe that violence was needed to solve every problem. She took that to heart as best as she could, though it was hard after Mindoir. The only thing that comes close to a super hero idol is the story of a Mage-Knight who slew a mighty Arch dragon to save a nation. UJ later retold the story to her girlfriend in which the Mage-Knight was accompanied by a beautiful red-headed bard.

Why do people call your FemShep, well, Shepard?
Is it out of military necessity, and she actually prefers another name with friends and family?
Has she just sort of gotten used to being called Shepard?

UJ has pretty much gotten used to being called Shepard after being in the military for so long. She was an only child and so she is glad to carry the name. She does prefer to be called “UJ” by her closest friends, namely Liara and a few surviving settlers on Mindoir. Her real name is Urania Jane Shepard, “Urania” being the Greek muse of astronomy and astrology. Jane was a family name. As a child she got teased for her first name, but after she beat up most of the tougher boys in school, kids simply started calling her UJ. Only her mother, a former professor in astrobiology, called her Urania.

What is she doing with her "unwind" time? and, if she is listening to music, what song is she listening to right now?
UJ likes to bop a bit to the Clash or Patti Smith in the shower to unwind the stress. But when she really wants to unwind she will quilt a bit and listen to Patsy Cline or Cowboy Junkies. Right now, she'd liseting to "Walkin' After Midnight" by the Cowboy Junkies and drinking a shot of bourbon.
