Well well, the UE3 can do some decent looking hair. Do it, BioWare.

Well... That still doesn't look quite right.

Still an improvement imo.

Anything is an improvement, it hard not to get much worse at present :P

NVIDIA Luna demo. >5 years old demo.

I think the problem is that certain hardware (*cough* consoles *cough*) probably can't handle the real heavy stuff.  So until the PS4 or the XBox 720 comes out, we're stuck with technology that's lost its polish.

My apologies to anyone who has submitted any art to the FemShep deviantArt page. Summer brings less time for people to approve the art pieces. If you submitted something and it wasn't approved, please submit it again and myself and the officers will try to approve it in. Thanks. : )

A cap I took from SQ's awesome video:

Yeah, current gen consoles suck big time. Current gen PCs are on totally different level. I guess that's why DICE decided to make PC as leading platform for BF3.

Also, I blame consoles for crappy textures, low poly models, stupid loading screens and pipe level designs.

well, the flip side is that on PCs, we constantly have to update hardware to make sure we can still play stuff. i've fried at least 3 graphics cards over the years ><

but with the hair thing, i think it's totally possible to have lower-rez textures look okay. it's about the cut and the design, not the flow. i've seen hairstyles in games of rather low rez that i LOVED b/c they were so cute in design. i'm thinking the asymetrical bob from the original dugeon siege, or many of the styles from nwn2 - the short, boyish one with the long bangs (Can't seem to find pics).

seriously, even with pretty low graphics, i actually took those pics to my stylist and asked her to make my hair look like that (she thinks i'm crazy). i never did that once with an ME style, even though the graphics are better.

Sadly, tech demos like that do not really tell anything about what is actually practically doable in large scale, real time in a game. On today's hardware that could be doable. 5 years ago? Not so much. Not to mention the current gen consoles are over 4-5 years old and they weren't exactly high-end back then.

Still, they could improve on the awful hair loads in ME3.

You can definitely do some amazing things with low poly counts and amazing textures. I mean, I remember zooming all the way in on a ghoul in Warcraft III and being amazed at how few polys were used. The model was absolutely made by its textures.

I don't mind the ME2 hair (minus the clipping issues), but I would love to see some decent physics surrounding the longer styles.

Liara: "Thanks for saving me."
Jolene: "Anytime..."
Ash: "Skipper? ... Commander? *slaps on the back of the head*"
Jolene: "What?"
Ash: "Stay focused."
Jolene: "I am totally focused."
*Ash sighs*

I've never managed to destroy any component myself. I had pretty bad luck with GeForce 6800 GT (received many faulty cards) and X1800 XT died (one year warranty ) and oven did not fix it. I must say that I love EVGA and their 10 year warranty; I've been buying their cards for now, awesome company. :D

For hair that may be true but low resolution textures are annoying. Heck, even my smartphone has the same about on RAM than Xbox 360...

Well, the above was running in three digit numbers @ 1080p with 8xMSAA. It doesn't even have to be that dynamic and "excessive" in games so that would speed up hair rendering a lot. On top of that, I bet there are ways to do it even faster with new APIs (DX11 and OpenGL 4.x).

PS3 has pretty much equal GPU to GeForce 7800 GTX and that above demo was made for that card... The performance wouldn't be that great on consoles. They're just too old.

 Awww!

Okay, I just have to share, and thank Hyper for this awesome 'gift' for Kyrie from Kaidan.  This is just terrific. Though it did take me/Kyrie a while to figure out how to run the file (neither of us are tech experts).

In case you can't see that too well, close ups here.

Awww. And Kyrie once told Kaidan that firearms make excellent presents. THANKS HYPER!

D'aw. That's really sweet.
Which reminds me, I forgot to post what Hyper did for Lili's claymore:

The reasoning behind wolf, or how I figure it: Wolves are strong, powerful, deadly, yet beautiful animals. I'd say Garrus thinks of Lili in that way, and thus a wolf would represent her, in a way.

Hey, I like that! Great way to put it and damned adorable. Oh Garrus, you old charmer!

The mod is cool too. I can see lots more of these popping up in the near future.

Hey! I have been so busy doing nothing that I missed about the last 100 pages or so, and now someone from my msn messenger sends me a link to game tourists and it's sage's video! I guess I'm the last person on the planet to see it but I finally saw it, wow, outstanding work! I'm thankful for your sharing it with all of us. I can't imagine the amount of work put into that video, I spend a whole hour just positioning the flycam before getting a screenshot!

I can't comment technically because I know nothing about video, but it all kinda fits in, it gives the impression of a 'whole' oeuvre, and also I saw how you took care of making each Femshep do something according to their personality. Personally I'd like to commend you for making Jih pawnch the SB. You totally hit the nail on the head with that. LOL! Oh and the ending is hilarious :D Cheers!
