ELE did this with Caroline shepard using hair hacks. in the many face of femshep vid, she's the one with the beret in combat, hair down on the normandy. it is a seriously cool look that just plays GREAT in the game. (truly, caroline is such a well-designed femshep, i really felt like she should have been default jane).

This could be done by editing the hair parameters in a save game editor. But doing it over and over each time FemShep disembarks would get tedious. But it does not sound like something that would be difficult to code. I hear ME3 will have more customization options, and I hope this is one of them.

Interesting.    Presently 34% listed on there prefer femshep.   Although reading some of the comments there are a few "I never played femshep" and a lot more "why would I play femshep".

Shame your missing out folks!  B)

Plus its a whole 14% better then those odd "statistics" Bioware published last year.   This is much more what I was expecting.

That's interesting, Captain. My poll indicates that 28% prefers FemShep. I think that my poll or the 34% are closer to the truth than BW's figure. BTW: My poll had 3200+ voters.

That's cool! If you look at my poll, you'll notice that the actual number of players mainly interested in FemShep is larger than that 28%, because of the differentiation in the answers.

That's not a bad showing of FemShep votes. I read through the comments section and a lot of people said they didn't vote because they play both genders.

The poll might as well be asking whether you are a male or a female. It's only natural that ManShep wins because the greater majority of players ARE males.

Voted on the FB thingy. But I do expect it to be skewed towards manShep, for the reasons already mentioned here. And it looks like it's 5600 FemSheps to 10900 manSheps right now...not bad at all.

One save edit.  I made the scalp the pulled texture that goes with the bun hairstyles.  The hair mesh is the long classy style.  When you put on the beret the hair mesh is hidden and it looks like the hair is pulled up and tucked.

No headgear

I can see one obstacle to being able to change hair on the fly and that's the head sizes vary between hairstyles.  Notable when going from, ie the bun hairstyles to the down hairstyles the scalp clips.  I can see them having a black emporium type deal, but not an automatic hair switch option.

agreed. actually, keeping with the trend of femshep notice, dare i read between the lines and say BW is plotting a femshep marketing plan for ME3?

we can hope, right? it does seem a little chicken-and-egg though with the polls. if you never let it be known in the two previous marketing campaigns that one can play as femshep and continually promote sheploo, then suddenly ask people if they've ever bothered to play as femshep, it is any wonder that the numbers for femshep players are low? the fact that she's got the following she does DESPITE the attention is quite telling, imo.

then again, i do dearly hope that if she gets attention, it's for what she IS and not some oversexualized version of what certain demographics would expect her to be.

anyhow. i'll stop rambling. a shep pic from the vaults

they percentages might be skewed anyways - their statistics count all the characters created, rather then players, yes? there are a lot of people who might prefer a femshep, but still have malesheps, you know :)

and sage, thank you so much for that horrifying image. now I'm waiting for the hair changes with dread O_O

Well, that's some optimism ^_^  Is it really on marketing to make people aware of videogame features though? Do people seriously not explore the character creation screen before starting the game?

Mmmm...Barbarella...
