Stigmas are funny. If I were to say that playing w/ a G I Joe (Real American Hero) makes a guy gay, then people would either rage, laugh their a** off or just do a wtf? Today, G I Joe is the epitome of macho, but, when the G I Joe was introduced in 1964 there was an actual fear that it would make boys gay because the G I Joe was a "doll," a girl's toy. Hasbro marketed Joe as an action figure, but some parents still saw him as a “doll.” That was today’s historical moment.

I wasn't aware of the 'gay male playing female characters' stereotype. All the gay guys I know play as men 'cause they're 'prettier to look at'.
You play WoW, too.

Not anymore, I don't. Not that I'd have time to play, what with all the Mass-Effecting I've been doing!

@ kheven - Niiice. thanks for sharing. she looks lovely and i love the story arc you've got planned. sounds painful, but powerful.
and i gotta say, barrier adept is awesome.there's something lovely about the RP element of it also, for someone who has put up walls between them and others, both literally and figuratively.

oh dear. now look what i started. i suppose she's expecting her hair to work as her armor? and a crossbow? really?
yeah, that is NOT what we want when we want more femshep. femshep truly breaks the mold by not being THAT. sorta sad, really, that femshep is the exception in sci-fi and barbarella there is the rule.

There's worse. I recall seeing some fantasy MMO ads whose idea of female armor leaves me wondering how many female characters die from gut wounds.yeah, that is NOT what we want when we want more femshep. femshep truly breaks the mold by not being THAT. sorta sad, really, that femshep is the exception in sci-fi and barbarella there is the rule.
...so you don't want me to dig up the original Dirty Pair TV series opening?

btw, wanted to share that up fixed my blog to have tabs across the top of the homepage that can insta-link you to a list of modding tutorials and video guides. that's all the pages i have yet, but since i realized folks were using the blog as a reference for flycam guides and such (which is awesome, thank you), i wanted to make it easier for you to find things. so anyhow, just thought i'd point that out.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you my newest FemShep, Rani!
*snip*
Rani means princess in India, her parents being from that particular subcontinent. I was going for an Indian/Middle Eastern look for her, and I think I succeeded. I like her alot, so far. Took me 5 restarts and about 4 total hours in the character creation screen to get just the right facial structure and everything set right. But I think she's worth it!
*snip*
Don't make me angry...
Here's her profile so far.
Beware, WALL-O-TEXT incoming!!! You have been warned!!
Rani Shepard
Colonist/Sole Survivor
Renegade, (except Feros)
Adept with AR training (ME1)
Probably Adept with Stasis or Barrier in ME2
The ball of violence and hate that is Jack is what Rani could have been, except for the first 16 years of her life. Raised on Mindoir by two loving parents, Rani had the potential to be anything. Then came the batarians. After watching her parents die almost literally in front of her, only barely being rescued herself from a life of slavery and unspeakable horrors, something in her snapped. Once a happy-go-lucky, everything-has-a-silver-lining kinda girl, the events of that day left her a snarky, card carrying cynic.
Something of her parents lived on in her, however. At the age of 18, she enlisted in the Alliance military after her latent biotic abilities were discovered and brought to the surface. Intent on trying to keep the tragedy of Mindoir from happening ever again, she excelled in her biotic training, and far surpassed the combat training of most Adept-class trainees. Her marksmanship abilities and biotic prowess earned her a nomination to the vaunted N7 training program, but before she could rotate out of her current unit, stationed on Akuze, tragedy struck again. Thresher maws wiped out her entire unit, and once again, Rani barely survived.
The last vestiges of her sanity were sorely tested, and only through sheer pig-headed stubbornness was she able to keep her head on straight, if not unchanged. Her snarky cynicism morphed yet again into an almost sociopathic uncaringness. Her regard for her own life is virtually nil. She believes that she is already dead. The bullet just hasn't hit her yet.
**This is her story as of the start of ME1. She is polite but stern to the crew, simply because it is a part of military decorum, but traces of her "brokenness" show from time to time when she snaps at her subordinates. Planned romance is with Kaiden, and I want to "renegade" him, but roleplay that he slowly breaks down her walls. Dying and being brought back in ME2 will almost be a letdown for her, as she thinks she should have stayed dead. Believing that it's in Kaiden's best interests, she won't contact him, thinking it's better if he still thinks her to be dead, at least until after the suicide mission is over with. She doesn't want to make him lose her twice if she doesn't make it back this time. Horizon is going to be even rougher than usual, considering that by this point, Kaiden is very nearly the only "personal" reason for her to be alive. Other than him, all she has is "duty." Her duty to humanity, her duty to the entire galaxy to keep trying to figure out how to stop the Reapers. Once Kaiden turns his back, it'll be a blow to her, personally, that's almost like the final feather. Minor compared to Mindoir and Akuze, but it'll almost break her. But because of who she is and what she's gone through, no one will see it.
Yes, this is a totally angsty, almost emo kind of playthru, but it's my renegade playthru, and that's how it's going down!

Nyoka, main news is that femshep might, maybe, get a bioware trailer. Or at least an officially sanctioned and promoted trailer contest, of some sort.JamieCOTC wrote...

I learned something today!
Speaking of stigmas, it's amusing that gaming has gone from being universally seen as nerdy, to some games now being stereotyped as games played by stupid bro jocks (CoD). And one of the genres that has remained nerdy (RPGS) is experiencing a culture war in Mass Effect involving that

Not to slight anything that anyone does here, but OMG that wallpaper is DOPE!
