I vote redhead for purely selfish motives.

(...and no I won't link to TVTropes again. My evil has its limits.)

Ooo... ToP FemShep. Redhead this time.

Could use the gunpoint or arms crossed moment, but I feel like adding a "d'awwww..." moment instead.

Innocent question?

Or do they have some plan in the works to redesign default femshep for some epic trailer production?   Perhaps figure out what direction to go for a real face model for a full blown CGI trailer?!!!

ahhhh wait Im sensationalising again.  :innocent:    I dont care I like that idea :P

I'm actually quite baffled as to what he's getting at there. I thought they already had the default Jane for this kind of thing. It sounds like they're either planning to create a custom FemShep for this trailer or are redesigning Jane. Guess which one is more likely...

Well wayyyyyy back in this thread ele posted some pictures of a redundant file where it looked like Bioware were starting to construct a new default model.  Or it could have been a dev just bored and decided to have a play around. The end result wasnt at all as good as some on here and it just used standard CC features.  Interesting though.

However Sheploo is custom made and higher res.  Wonder if Bioware have a face model in mind to create a really detailed new femshep?   I mentioned it briefly here but will reiterate

"Femshep doesnt have an iconic or has a set image unlike male Shepard.  Bioware I believe still have the flexability to show off another femshep model if they choose.  After all most the art and videos out there dont often show Default Jane.  Femshep really does have much more scope.
This isnt a knock on default, but more of an appreciation at how femshep is certainly much more diverse and doesnt instantly conjur up a set image.  Especially when you explore the femshep thread or the Deviant Art Group and see all the variations and diversity out there."

With this in mind as long as they kept Jane in the CC creation I dont see to much of an issue if they decided for example to create a new face based a similar way they did Sheploo. ie based on a model and made to a higher level then whats available in the CC screen.  Its still optional to the fans.    However you have to ask is it worth it? Only Bioware can decide that.
Plus this is all wild speculation based on a tweet.  But hey were excited  :D

Low polygon count is issue with custom characters. I hope that they do something about it. I do hope that they implement DX11 features like tessellation in ME3. There are many places that would benefit from higher polygon count in Mass Effect.

@Akari - You never cease to amaze me with the beautiful wallpapers you come up with.

Did someone say "intergalactic red head convention?"  Kate will be attending once she finishes taking care of a few things.

They could use good old Jane, couldn't they? I think she's good enough for a trailer. Yes I prefer many Shepards posted here over Jane, but she's still cool. Are they making a new Shep? If they are using the CC, I doubt they can come up with something better than Caroline or Holly anyway. It would be quicker if they just PM'd people here and hired their Femsheps to do Jane's job.

@Fiery Phoenix probably making a Femshep specifically for this trailer. I remember reading there was an official guide in some special edition of ME2 that had a blonde Femshep in all the screenshots. Something similar could happen with the trailer.

Thanks, Shenzi. :)

On the hair colour tweet. If they are indeed planning to make a new default FemShep, I can't say I'm really that fussed what colour her hair is, as she won't be my Shepard. I don't think there's anything wrong with the current Jane, as it stands. Infact I'd prefer they use her than create some space bimbo with an enormous rack, in an attempt to appeal to 15 year old boys!

If they do choose to change the default Femshep then I reckon using Jenifer Hale as a template would actually be quite appropriate.

Yes, the official ME2 guide actually uses a custom (blonde) FemShep throughout.

Akari makes a good point.  Its something I was getting at.  Any new femshep they make wont initially be anyones. She will just be a representation.  Maybe if she included in ME3 on the CC screen then we may grow to like her. However Jane is still the best femshep out there as she represents everyones femshep to a degree.  She can be chosen by anyone at any point and can be yours if you choose.  More people have her image then any other out there by far.

Then again Bioware arnt scared not to use her. The femshep screenshots released for ME2 wern't even of Jane. Which again shows the diversity femshep has and the fact she isnt restricted like maleshep has become.  Or should I say two new femsheps.

Sorry what I meant was we had to ask Bioware for some screenshots and it took some persistence. Those screenshots were released about a month prior to launch.

Before Mass Effect I would, 99% of the time make a male character in a game, given the choice. But I think I've just become bored of playing the same type of character over and over. FemShep was completely different. I instantly found her more interesting than maleshep and I'm now so used to Shepard being female, that I have no interest in playing with a male Shepard anymore.

I have also never created a backstory or personality for a character in a game prior to FemShep. Usually because in the games I played, the characters were either pre-defined, or just a silent, expressionless avatar that I had no attachment to. Shepard was different and I actually wanted her to have her own history and personality, especially after I started visiting this thread. It was more fun to go through the game thinking, what would Hrist do? And not what do I want to do? I doubt I would have ever done that with a male Shepard.

I'm also a straight male and the whole, 'guys who play as a female must be gay' argument doesnt make any sense to me. If I play a game with a big muscle bound bloke, I'm straight, but If I play a game with a female character that I find attractive, I'm gay? The logic in that doesn't add up I'm afraid. And I'm not saying males who play games with a male character are gay either, before someone takes that route.

And to chance subject briefly. I made a final wallpaper for my 'FemShep class Wallpaper' project. It's a sort of cover image, for the whole thing, staring all six Shepards.

First of all, great work with the wallpaper. Looks really nice:)
Second, my experience is similar to yours. I've played RPG games before but only cared for the gameplay and general story. But the PC was usually just some anonymous dude going from place to place. Never bothered to actually role play that character.
That changed with Mass Effect. Specifically playing femshep. My first run ever was with male shep, but I find it boring there was no attachment to the character.
If it wasn't for femShep, I'm absolutely sure that I wouldn't be playing this game anymore

Looks like my theory is confirmed. They aren't sticking with the default. She's just not recongnizable enough.

It did indeed have it's own custom textures.  But it was still totally unfinished and didn't even look as good as most custom femSheps.

It would be cool if they give default Jane a redesign.  I don't mind her overall features, but she needs more realistic proprotions and high resolution textures and better hair.  So pretty much everything.  I like how she's sort of average looking, but speaking from a strictly quality standpoint she looks terrible next to Sheploo (or even the squaddies like Miranda and Jack): low resolution textures, regular CC features, she could be some random NPC.

Or they could just use Caroline (thanks sage.) I'd totally be okay with that ;)
