EDIT: ToP Shep!!!

@ Nostang: I didn't mean that maleShep being the game default was arbitrary. I agree that was planned. I was simply commenting on the variable name. I doubt that was a planned element. Marketers probably never think about the coders.

Yeah, that comment was just a little dig from me because I'm in software development and thus reserve the right to poke fun at my profession. It's just an interesting bit of insight into the "mindset" behind the code base that being female is the exception condition:

if (IsFemale) {
    // make an exception
}
else {
    // do the normal thing
}

 In case you hadn't seen, the ME2 facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/masseffect) posted a comic starring a FemShep for the holiday weekend.

somethin's definitely afoot, i think. preparing the fans for something at E3? maybe? maybe?

Well, that's Aimo's one of the oldest comics posted on DA before ME2 *buzzkill* It can be there just because it's awesome.

EDIT: FemShep question!

- So, how are you feeling Shepard?
- Like a morning after shore leave... How long was I out?

So, tell me: what happened on that shore leave? (Assuming there was some memorable experience in the past that left Shepard with a terrible hangover/other kind of indisposition)

Love that part of LOTSB. Lots of photo ops!

@Sable: Your question coupled with Interactive Civilian's screenshots make me think more on Liara's new role as the Shadow Broker and how that is going to roll into ME3.

Seems as though we are set up after LOTSB so that Shepard can escape the invasion of Earth and perhaps barely make it to Liara's "refitted" Shadow Broker's base, which becomes the nerve center for the war against the Reapers. This would rock for many reasons, not the least of which is that Liara assumes a key role in coordinating intel and developing the alliances Shepard will need. On the flip side, it may mean she is pretty much "glued" in place there, which would be unfortunate.

Aside: Neither Rhea nor Enid have the Liara romance as part of their canon, but I'm strongly considering a runthrough with that option, because I'm thinking now that will likely be a significant plot variant in ME3.

^ i had a friend who was sad he'd gotten the zaeed dlc because 'this guy is such a ****' <-- his words. i said 'want a spoiler? you can hit him. you can even kill him.' his response was 'i LOVE this dlc.'

yeah, zaeed is a not-so-lovable character. but then, i see grunt as being just as violent and uncontrolled, esp. given his post-game comments about turians. the only difference is grunt looks a little more cuddly, which is a total illusion.

Zaeed is a character whom I hated when I first met him. I didn't like the way he was beating up on that Batarian. Then with everything that happened during the DLC (I go the Paragon route there and save the workers). On that play through, I never used him.

Then, more recently, I've started using him more and more, and I've grown to like him quite a lot. Based on his comments in various situations (take him with you to recruit Garrus and tell him to protect Garrus; he doesn't give you any of the lip that Jacob does) his character actually grows a good bit into a decent and seemingly trustworthy comrade.

For Artemis, he's the missing Wrex on your squad in ME2. I can't say he's as dear to Artemis as Wrex, but I could certainly imagine him becoming that way if he sticks around.

In response to AkodoRyu's question: With Renee, her wildest shore leave was right after finishing up Special Forces training. She's normally the one who gets everyone else home safely, but this time, she managed to drink far too much. Enough to make splitting the bottle with Chakwas seem like a night of light drinking. She went dry for a few years after that.

Nimue partied pretty hard, before shortly after she was commissioned, and informed that "Officers are expected to handle themselves in a responsible matter at all times, or face dismissal from the service." She straightened out after that.

Also:  the Alliance working uniform seen in ME1 reminds me a lot of the modern US Navy Navy Working Uniform, except the shirt's piping, and no blouse is work.  Interstingly, that means there's no rank insignia worn either.

Normally Jane doesn't drink. But that "shore leave" she will never forget. Actually it was the day when she graduated from the Military Academy. That was fun! Jane still keeps a photo of her dancing on the table in front of the guys. She remembers that half the guys got drunk that evening and there was a fight. Next morning nobody could remember why it happened.

Kaidan happened. If you read "Guns and Poems" Kallen and Kaidan had a fling on the shore leave before the SR-1 was operational. Alcohol, biotics, and sex, not the best combination for the brain for either of them.Posted Image

A Bad Night, eh?  Sort of a prequel to A Good Night?

It was back in the early days, soon after Alice joined up with the Alliance.  There was lots of drinking and dancing, unintentional groping of the wrong person which lead to a fight that got way out of hand far too quickly.  After escaping, she went back to some guy's place only to find out his girlfriend was the jealous type.  There was more fighting followed by jumping out a window which resulted in a bad landing and a twisted ankle.  She decided to try and drink it off, but having forgotten about the fight she started, wound up getting chased around by the cops.  Once she lost them she decided to go the easy route and bought a bottle of liquor for herself and just sat alone drinking herself into oblivion on the top of an office building.  Not her finest hour.

Jolene doesn't get drunk anymore since the Academy, which has specific reasons i don't want to explain in more detail (yet), cause it might be part of a future FanFic.

That's an excellent piece of work by Patryk. I might start assembling a FemShep wall paper series for Windows 7.

At least once a year, Olivia takes a three week long vacation. Most of the times she spends it on Bekenstein, where her mom owns a decent penthouse amongst the Illium rivaling skyscrapers of the main city.

Olivia has the bad habit of drinking on and off during her shore leaves. She has a drink with every meal, and between meals as her "snack", when her friends come over, while watching TV, at conventions, etc etc. Because of her light weight, she usually gets tipsy after a few drinks, however her self control (even when inebriated) leads her to be rather quiet and sleepy, rather than a rambling drunk. A month before she served on the SR1, Shepard went to a popular Bekenstein night club called Eternal where a man, who's name she now has no memory of, bought her 5 asari cocktails. She woke up 8 hours later with her bed fellow in a sh!tty hotel near the lower ends of Bekenstein. Leaving him asleep, Olivia left the hotel still semi drunk, and was robbed by a batarian teenager and she tried to find her way back to her penthouse.

(if anyone was ever to assassinate Olivia, doing it on her shore leave would be relatively easy for a semi trained merc/assassin, because she isn't armored (minus her kinetic barrier), usually only carries a pistol in her bag, and is often even slightly drunk)

Since that event, Olivia tends to spend her vacations on the more private planet of Intai'sei, where she spends her days training, drinking, and joy riding in a Mako variant across the arid desert.

Finally I made it! One more video about Jane Shepard and the Reapers. Since there is no official FemShep trailer yet and I don't know if it will be at all. So I decided to make my own using videos from ME1, ME2 and two fragments of the official ME3 trailer. What do you think about it?

Creatures from the Dark Space

Loved it, Jane.  You picked some good scenes and lines from Jen Hale.  You also picked a great song.  I always have trouble with song choices. :wizard:
