Well, the amazing thing about ME is that playing through again, even as the same character, is still fun (at least for me). :D

Question time:

Have you ever think of the life after ME3 assuming she survive with her LI?

And if so, what is the "ending" of her? Like laying on the bed with lots of grandchild around her?

That's what i hope. If not, I'll blow up the BioWare building.

Besides that, i already have ideas for storys for the time (shortly) after ME3. There's still unfinished business.

If you mean spending time laying in bed as lots of hanky panky then yes.  :P  Not sure about lots of kids and then grandkids!   Certainly Two tops!  Although shes not really in an rush.

I cant really see a maternal instinct just yet. Possible because raising a family is the last thing on her mind right now.  Plus I dont even know if it will work out with my LI.  He was a bit of a jerk on Horizon afterall...

I've thought about it a lot but honestly Sarah can't see herself after ME3. The one she thought was the one was quite a jerk on Horizon and it hurt Sarah more then she let on. If everything work out in the end she might see herself with a family but if it doesn't then she will as she always have, commit herself to the protection of Humanity

If there is another signature epilogue where my main character vanishes under mysterious circumstances, I'll scream. :P

Hm. Life after ME3... seeing as I'm attracted to tragedies (hey, I went for Thane in all but one of my playthroughs), I'd imagine for the most of my Shepards they'd end up in the center of whatever mess that would be left of the galaxy post the reapers, only the odds would eventually catch up to them, sooner or later. Probably sooner.  No heroic self-sacrifice, just death happens kind of thing.

I mean, need to make some space for the new heroes! ;)

To be honest, i don't even like to speculate on what they will do in ME3 based on the published info we have. When it's installed on my PC and I import a character, I will go over my notes on who they are and what they have done so far and see what happens.
I definately plan to imagine their lifes after the events of ME3 but I am restraining myself from doing so until the credits roll.

Regarding save files: Ever since I've lost a few of my early characters, I make two copies of the savegame folder on different harddrives and another one on a usb stick that is stored in a fireproof safe. Oh my, this really sounds a little crazy...

I didn't think about how it will end, but I have already decided what will happen after ME3 if Jane survives. At first she will marry Jacob on Earth or maybe somewhere in space. They will have two or therr children. After the wedding Jane will travel to Virmire one more time to honor the memory of her good friend Ash. She will continue to serve in the Alliance space troops and travel all over the galaxy to explore unknown worlds. There is always something out there waiting for someone who will find it.

I have save the game file into 3 different places just in case two of them decide to fail on me. ;)

The reason why I ask about something in our speculation which I find it is interesting to see how everyone may wish their Shepard will do afterward. This final chapter of her is the most interesting one in fanfic area, don't you think?

May be some Shepard really go pirate with Jack, just imagine all the fun you can add into it~ :D

It would be a well-deserved ending. That much I know for certain.

Seriously, though, I've often considered the possibility for Shepard to end up in a position similar to Admiral Hackett's following the Reaper war, except a lot more symbolic.

Is it strange to see that the 'Reaper years' defined who Shepard is moreso than the events in her life before?

Myself, I can't see her outside that conflict. Some of my Shepards may hate the situation they are in, but all thrive on contention and conflict it provides. When/if it is over... I can't help but feel they'll be like fishes out of water.

Not to imply there wouldn't be anything else dangerous or worthy to do anymore, but when you compare the scales...

For Kate, after everything she's been through she is retiring after the war with the Reapers.  Her and Kaidan will settle down somewhere remote to live to start a family and live out the rest of their lives.

Sweet ! Otherwise, I love the origin Earthborn. Femshep Shepard has already gained experience in combat in the street. She learned to survive in a hostile environment.

It helps me to think that when joined the army, she shows great potential already sharpened by years of practice in gangs.

Marge doesn't know if she still has any "LI". She's taking him for granted, that keeps her feet to the ground, but what will happen when she faces him? Then we will talk. Even I don't know where I will take her story. Not yet anyway. I don't see her living a simple life in one place.

I know this is about performance tweaks and this is not a tweaks thread, but I wanted to post it here since I know many of you who play ME2 on PCs do some tweaking. Some of you have done a LOT of tweaking.B)

Some of you may have noticed that my recent screenies are better quality than older ones. I stumbled on a couple of settings (on a forum for another UE3 game) that have enabled me to take my lighting and shadow settings up to higher detail levels without killing my frame rates (I play on a laptop so my GPU is borderline). If you want to see if it helps you, you can edit them using the ME2 Coalesced Editor (Sage has really good info on getting started with the Coalesced Editor on her blog here. It's in the context of setting up the FlyCam, but the principles are the same.)

BIOEngine
[MemoryPools]
FLightPrimitiveInteractionInitialBlockSize=
FModShadowPrimitiveInteractionInitialBlockSize=

The value you enter is in MB, and defines the initial amount of memory the engine sets aside for storing lighting and shadow primitives. I believe 512 is the default for each, but you can safely increase each to up to about 1/4 your total RAM. (The sum of the two values should be no more than half your total RAM.) Since my machine has 16GB, I set each one to 4096. (e.g., if your machine has 4GB of RAM, set each value to 1024. if 8GB, set each to 2048, etc.)

No guarantees, of course -- your results may vary depending on the characteristics of your system -- but it worked for me.

It does helps alittle, Skaldfish. Thanks for the tip. :)

/snip

I tried it and I can't honestly say I saw an improvement. But since I only have 4GB of RAM, I changed those settings from 512 to 1024. Perhaps that's not noticeable.

Also, with these new numbers, shouldn't MassEffect2.exe use more memory ? It always was around 800 ~ 900 MB. That hasn't changed.

I've been browsing around on this forum for a while and I finally decided to stop the lurking and join. Made my first ever photoshop manipulated image (for anything) with my shep.

I can't get myself to play any game more than once so I completed just one playthrough of both Mass Effect games with a Paragon - Vanguard - Spacer - War hero femshep - romanced Kaidan and stayed faithful. I didn't make up a persona for my Shepard just went about it the way that I would have. I'm not worried about her LI romance having a good outcome. As long as the option is there for me to initiate, she will continue the relationship. I don't have an issue with my shep having kids some day when things are less explody/hectic. Maybe in my imagination or in the actual game if they so decide to imply in one of the endings or dialogue options. :) Optional and long after victory and shore leave of course.

re: FemShep's boyish sitting and such. I don't mind the sitting *except* that it made the dress look so nasty. it's funny, i have gal-friends that are 'tomboyish' or rather, friends who i know could kick a lot of ass, and of them, some put on a dress and know how to sit and walk okay. they're not miss america contestants, but they can move in them. others (one in particular) walks like a linebacker in heels.

so to me, the decision to not customize animations actually pushed my understanding of femshep's character a certain way, making her seem more like that particular tomboyish friend, rather than the other ones.

i wonder if some day games will ever allow us to pick a model build along with custom faces - as in, slim and graceful vs. bigger and more muscular. that could be interesting... anyhow.

do i think about it? yes. i've even written down pieces of it.

kids? i dunno. there are some thigns i feel certain kyrie would do if she lives through the reapers. others, i have no idea. i don't think she feels at all resolved aobut kids. i really think she probably won't have them. she just strikes me as someone who wouldn't. but then again, i dunno. i am kind of hoping ME3 takes us to a place where i can send her off into the sunset with kaidan and hope for the future - and wish her well as she *sniff* moves on from her time spent in my games.

They kind of used to have that option, actually. Remember Knights of the Old Republic? The three starting classes had slightly different physique: soldier was the tallest and most broadshouldered, scout average of the three and scoundrel the shortest and most slim. Granted it was mostly done with rescaling the model and restricted to class, but the option was there and I miss it  very much.

I played as scoundrel every time  LOL. Just prefer my heroines to be the miniature balls of death and destruction :P.

For UJ I’m going to make a lot of assumptions here, not the least of which is that she will actually survive the Reapers.  Being paraqgon, she's most likely to sacrifce herself, but id not this will hopefully happen.

UJ wants out of all of it, but she will serve if called. Hopefully she will be promoted to Captain and continue to command the Normandy in the reconstruction efforts. It will be hard, but she and Liara (still as the Shadow Broker) will continue their relationship long distance.  After five years, she will officially retire from the Alliance.  If she has the money, she will then buy a ranch on Mindoir, a place she and Liara can call home. If she and Liara don’t get bonded ingame, I suspect it will happen in this period of her life, and it will be at that point that she will come out to the public as being openly gay, not that it will be that big an issue.  UJ will eventually get antsy and if asked, she will become the next human councilor, maintaining a residence on Mindoir and the Citadel.  During this time, if it can happen, she and Liara will have “lots of little blue children.”  If she can, she will maintain friendships w/ her former crew, especially Garrus, Tali, Miranda and Wrex.  Ultimately, UJ will retire from the council position, probably sometime in her 60’s. Figuring that she has served enough she will go back to her ranch w/ Liara where she will live out the rest of her days.  When she finally goes to rest, she will be surrounded by loved ones, children, grandchildren, and especially Liara.  Finally, she’ll be buried in a small unassuming plot next to her parents, reunited at long last.

You can with Bethesda's recent games, using the toolset you can create a custom race entry and then edit the Weight and Height values to make the character slim or muscular, tall or short. In Oblivion height actually had an effect on certain values like character speed, short characters would move slightly slower than tall characters due to the difference in stride length.

Oh, yeah, ME1 is probably my all time favorite game.  Yes, there's some genericness to the plot, and the combat gameplay isn't the best, but there's a certain "something" about it that just keeps me coming back.  I've probably beaten ME1 ten times or more, and here I am again, running another 3 Sheps through.

I have my save files on a second HD now, but I didn't at the time.  One HD died on me, the second I got a virus that my AV didn't catch that corrupted my Win7 OS...total HD wipe there.  So, now I'm being careful with my saves.  lol

Oh, and that pic was pure awesome.  My MaleShep is Earthborn/War Hero, and I have a different view of Earthborn, but I like how you see it differently.  Good job!

Well, Kyra (I really need to get screencaps for her...) would love to settle down with Liara and maybe have a couple of little blue children.  I see her as the more "reluctant hero" Shepard of my gang-o-Sheps.  She'd be the one to most likely be able to put down the role as Spectre and Savior of the Galaxy and try to live a normal life.  I see the "end" of her story as something like this:  Reapers are defeated, and the threat is finally over, she'll find herself a private spot and and (not-so) quietly go to pieces.  Liara'd find her and they'd embrace, then Kyra'd pull back, smile this huge "WE DID IT!!" smile, wipe her tears, and her and Liara'd walk off screen.  Fade-to-black, end of story.

I'm still figuring out Rani.  She's definately a different personality than what I had in mind for her. Not sure what her "end state" will be at this point.

More random screenies of Rani!  Accidentally deleted the wrong career, so had to start her again but only lost a few minutes.  I think the tweaking has made me like her even more.
