@Jamesp81 I believe taking the "I saw her first" option when Kaidan talks about Liara after you get her off Therum will shut down his romance. Though the only method I know that will for sure shut down the romance path is to pick the bottom right option when he apologizes for rambling, if he ends conversations with "I'd like that" as opposed to "Commander" you're on the romance path.

I'm not sure the "I saw her first" is enough. And that option is not that hard to miss.
The problem with shutting him down too early is that he won't talk much after that I believe. Abby turns Kaidan down like this It's the 3rd convo with him IIRC. No LI "confrotation" this way.

Well I'm the same way but with Liara, since you get the opprotunity to fill in and choose so much of what defined Shepard as a character it's hard not to get super-attached to certain PC / NPC dynamics. I'm such a sucker for the Liara and FemShep dynamic that even my alt-Shep romances her! Being that "far gone" is probably why I'm way more protective of my Shepard designs than my Warden designs, I know that Danielle and Liara are perfect for each other but someone else might not and they'll pick the wrong one!



I couldn't bear to see it!

This is one of the reasons I haven't made another FemShep.  I'm so used to "being" Alice, so used to her character and her decision-making process that the idea of approaching it another way seems alien to me.

I'm curious as to what has got Bioware talking about FemShep all of a sudden though. Not that I'm complaining. It's good to see them finally embracing the amazing character they've created.

I wrote a post a few pages back.  Im assuming they always thought she had a strong vocal minority fanbase.  Especially because they announced that skewed 20% list, which they themselves eventually admitted was flawed and they used as a guide.

When you ask a sample of 20,000 people and over a third of those say they prefer femshep then its a hard number to dismiss.   Its in Biowares interest to captialise on her and im so glad they have done.


Plus having one the largest and most active threads on BSN, a giant Deviant Art page and her own website helps to compound her awesomeness! :happy:

Well, maybe they're milking the idea of femshep becoming a bigger sales-asset by vocally giving her more attention, hyping it a bit hoping that will further increase popularity.

I'd like to think they enjoy getting on our bandwagon more then any other, because we're such amazing people, and pleasing us is very satisfying and makes them feel all warm and fuzzy inside =P

David Silverman sheds a bit of light on that in this interview, something about asking a focus group what they liked about Mass Effect and a lot of them screaming "FemShep!". There's probably more to it than that, but whatever the reason is, I'm glad they decided to finally pursue it; it's only been a few months since I've joined the ME fandom but a preference for male lead characters is nothing new to the gaming world. I'm sure BioWare doesn't mind the warm and fuzzies from very happy femShep fans, either. xD
