Not really FemShep related, but:

Mac Walters
Another huge improvement we're taking on... More squad banter. I dare say, more than any other #MassEffect game to date.

Thanks everyone. I was already planning on picking it up, but I thought I'd ask anyway. :) I'm also planning on buying the dlc's for ME2 as well.

Ver, definately! Me1 is an amazing, amazing game.

Ironically, it suffers a little bit from the same design flaw that DAII does- recycled interiors. Not to the same extent, and it is most evident on side-missions and exploration, but it's there. Make sure to download free bring down the sky DLC for ME1 too. It's excellent.

@100K: I'm a big fun of that armor and mask too! :) Suits Shep nicely, imho.

Hey guys I have a question. I started
playing ME2 because I got it with my copy of DA2, I was wondering if I
should buy the first one and play it. What do you all think?

Yes, definitely. Though I'd say it's best to make your character in the ME2 CC and then use the face code to recreate them in ME1. As discussed on the past couple of pages, the slider values are exactly the same for both games, you just have to count the values manually in ME1.

@Gam3rG1rl23 We've always used a combination of gender-specific anims and shared ones. We have more specific anims to choose from in #ME3

specific anims to choose from

anims to choose

choose

:o

Does this mean we can choose whether femShep struts like a man or a woman? Because I'm all for it! Giving us an option to make Shepard gesture more feminine/masculine would be a nice little bit of customization that I'd really like to see.

Anyone know what happened to the site that converts the ME2 facecode to ME1 sliders, or where another version of it might be found?  I've been messing with faces for my other two femShep concepts which I still haven't played yet, I'd like to be able to go back and forth between the two CCs.

Can't seem to find it any more either. You know what... Mebbe I could code a quick tool for that purpose. Lets see.

Heh. So I made one. You copy paste face code and it generates .txt file which contains ME1 sliders.

I think you are reading too much into it, and he just means that game animators have an extended library of animated moves to work with.

In DA II, while female Hawke had her own walking/running animations, some cutscenes used the same amination as her male counterpart did. Try rewatching the cutscene where she runs up to the table with a dead woman in 'All that remains quest' or majority of 'approaching npcs' close up poses. She still walks like a man in those, heh.

Can't blame me for being hopeful. xP I just think it'd be a nice touch if they didn't paint all manSheps and femSheps with the same brush as far as animations go, especially now that they're introducing same-sex romance options for both.

...It would be odd to see manShep suddenly swaying his hips though, I have to admit. I guess my concern is mostly for femSheps. I figure that a Soldier would probably have a rougher walk and an Adept would have something a little more fluid and graceful - not saying this is how it should be for said classes, it all really depends on the kind of Shepard you're playing, but you get the idea.

:D I'd go gaga over that level of cosumization.

Would adore if my Shep could be more graceful, use biotics/pull out a spark-ready omni/tool instead of the rifle, depending on their spec, etc. But the jaded cynic in me is saying that they'll never commit resourses for that.

The most I'm realistically hoping for is walking/running/posture anims... and given how it was handled in DAII I have doubts that femShep will have 100% her own rig. Most likely unique running/walking while player controlled, a new sitting animation. I hope they don't go DA II route where scripted cutscenes still had female moving like a male.

You people are making me fill up my hard drive!

I’ve always taken some screen shots while I’ve played through my games, but since I’ve been coming here and I keep seeing all the great shots by everyone I’ve suddenly begun to go screen shot crazy.  My last couple of playthroughs I took maybe 20 or so screens of my Shepard.  In the playthrough I’m on now I’ve only finished Horizon and I’ve already taken more than 50.  And I haven’t even tried to do any fancy fly-cam stuff or anything like that (yet… likely you will corrupt me further and I’ll find myself backing up my game and diving into .ini files despite my better judgement). :P

It does give me an excuse to post some pics though.  So here is Shamara Shepard, paragon colonist war-hero vanguard.  Shamara is a name I’ve used in other games going back years and years.  It’s an Arabic name and means “ready for battle,” which was just too perfect not to use for my Shepard.

Now if I can just get the custom portrait uploader to work I’d be really happy…

yeah. no letter "O". i guess they didn't want it to get confused with zero? but there is no zero, so... i don't get that, but this is true. my shep's face code has some major extremes on the sliders, and this kept goofing me up at first.

Maybe having a zero or anything like a zero in the code would be like trying to divide by zero and thus Shepard would explode.

*pic snip*

Okay maybe that's silly but so is skipping letters that look like numbers when you don't use that number!

it is bizarre. all i know it is it means i never got an offical transfer code for my shep. i have approximates, but mostly she's an import with a facecode i can't reproduce. of course, i've gotten paranoid and backed up all vital game info for her in multiple places, including end saves and headmorph files.

to echo ELE and others - YES ME1 is worth it.  but i would add that i have friends who are more into shooter than RP elements, and they got annoyed with some parts of ME1 gameplay (the Mako, sticking to cover) and would not bother to play it. this is totally their loss, but there you go. they jumped right into ME2 and i keep telling them they're silly for not bothering to play ME1.

and as a total ME addict, i have to say, the DLC is WELL worth it for ME2. probably one of the few games where the DLC is sometimes better than the original game (lair of the shadow broker is the one i'm thinking of here).  i sort of feel bad for folks who are going to start up ME3 without ever playing anything earlier, becuase off all the awesomeness that they missed.

I've done the conversion math via gibbed for Ryn's Shai Shepard, she was a ME1 only design but I did all the conversions so I could take some screenshots for her. I keep all my stuff backed up in triplicate myself, saves and codes on my other computer, external hardrive and thumb drive. As well as all the source files and texmods to make them.
