Not it doesn't. Someone saying they like a screenshot someone has posted, or that they have a similar one is completely different to saying that you hate a certain hairstyle that somone has chosen for their character. Why you feel you have to tell us that you hate certain things, I have no idea. You're entitled to your opinion, but you could go about expressing it in a more eloquent way that doesn't involve ripping on someones Shepard.

And how does saying "I like this hair" ads more then my comment?

No it makes people feel ****, even if they can logicly assume this is your opinion and not a globally counting one.
They come here to share their creation with enthousiasts, not with critics. As such, it has no place here.
If you would have said, "i'm not a huge fan of that hairstyle myself" that also sets a wholely different tone don't you think?

I said I hate that hair, why would people get bothered with that? I'm not saying anything about them.

Because that's simply what happens, if you don't have it in you to mind the potential feelings of others, then you have no place being here.

And how is this place not for critics?

If you'd payed attention, you'd know it isn't.

This is public forum and long enough I'm not braking any forum rules, I can say anything.
And I expressed my opinion on that.

That's all fine and dandy, but this is a tight group of people that care about eachother, if you don't care then imho, what are you doing here? I assume you don't do it just to ****** people off, nor would you enjoy others to have a crappy opinion of you?

How do I hurt someones feelings for not liking hair they're using for game character?
I really don't get that.

Reason why I'm here is because I support FemShep as well.

I just saw that pic and I said that I really hate that hair, which I do.

If you don't like my opinion, it's YOUR problem.
If you don't like people criticizing stuff on public forum then make a private group, if there's no already.

So. That's what you want to do in this thread, right? Hate on other people's characters, make everyone uncomfortable and then argue endlessly about your posts and about you. This is your way to support Femshep.

Guys, he was just saying that he doesn't like the hair - not necessarily the Shepard wearing it. I don't think he was aiming to ****** anyone off by saying that. Let's not make a big deal out of it. :)

But speaking of which, I do like that hairstyle. I just don't like it when it starts clipping all over the face:

I'm talking about the hair, not a character.

And seriously, making people uncomfortable? Come on!

People sometimes criticize my canon Shepard, I don't feel uncomfortable at all when they do that.
It's their opinion.

Some are more sensitive then others, while it might not bother you personally to hear your shepard critiqued, it might really make others feel crappy. The train of thought comes from here:
1. I created this shep, i stuck a piece of me in it (because it's appearance is based on my likes/dislikes, my opinion)
2. This makes me proud of my shep, I'd like to share her for said reason.
3. If people hate on that shep, which is my creation, hence part of me in a way, negativity can reflect badly ON ME, because it's got to do directly with me. Not liking my shep is not liking my opinion or tastes, is there something wrong with me?
4. Possible conclusion: I don't like my shep now, I can't do this, I don't want her anymore. Feck it, I give up.

This is over-dramatized yes, and your comment wasn't all that bad, but the point of this is that this is a possibility, and even the possibility of this happening here should be enough to not want to push it the wrong way. Just because we care.
So do we let such a negatively perceived comment slide, or do we speak up to emphasize what problems might arrise from such posts, should they happen in more frequency?

Heh well, if you'd have said the same towards my favorite shep, i'd have been bent the wrong way about it too, thought for me it wouldn't go in such extremes as I gave, the core reasoning is the same and it would definately make me feel slightly crappy. In the end there are a ton of reasons why someone would be insecure about themselves/their creations to make something small grab them the wrong way.

I know it sounds off to pick your comment up so heavily on the chance it might have been crappily recieved, still it's so easy to minimize the possibily while still being able to voice your opinion on something like hair.

Edit for grammar, plus picture for win.

And that's a very constructive comment.  Thanks for hating on my FemShep for no reason whatsoever.  Appreciate that. Keep that to yourself in the future.  And if you continue to do so, I'll report you for trolling.

This is the last post I'm going to make on the subject, as it really isn't the place for it.

My problem isn't that you don't like a particular hairstyle, it's the fact that you seem to repeatedly make ill concived posts of a similar nature that add nothing to the topic of conversation and think that it being you're opinion makes it okay.

As Nyoka pointed out you've done the same thing before and all you're doing is stirring up trouble. Try thinking before you post something of a similar nature next time.

And really?
I hate that FemShep just do to hair?

Come on people.
Do I have to start using disclaimers on my every negative critique?

There are things I don't like, but I don't generally go around pointing at things, when they are not the topic of discussion, especially in a support thread, where the tone should be rather postive than negative by defintion. If someone where to make a topic of discussion like 'Do you like that hairstyle?', I'd say, it is ok to say no or even that you hate it. But going around and pointing fingers out of the blue is never nice.

To steer the conversation back into FemShep territory (sorta): When writing background stories for your Sheps which do you tend to focus more on, pre-service history or psychological profile? Or which of the two carries more weight for your Shepard?

It's pre-service history for my main Shep, which makes me sad because it tends to get swept aside most times. Like in Jennelyn's case (Colonist/Sole Survivor) when Kaidan ask about why she joined the military she answers with "My family were farmers" and right after that Kaidan answers with "Oh right, Akuze!" without batting an eyelash. And en-route to the Cerberus facility when Jacob asks about Shepard's history she only ever gets the chance to comment on Akuze.

I suppose it would make sense for a lot of people not to know about Shepard's life before the military and thus not comment on it, but I wish it got a bit more recognition. Here's to hoping that it'll have a greater impact in ME3.

I don't favour one over the other. They're both equally important.

Jei's past is particularly shady, so in a way she's thankful all they talk about is Akuze -- I mean, hell, who knows what kinda reactions she'd get if word got out that she used to be a red sand runner for the Reds, y'know? I'm betting the reactions certainly wouldn't be the usual mix of pity and admiration the way it is when people talk about Akuze. That being said, her socially awkward personality was already half molded by her shady childhood, Akuze just cemented it into 'my ship is my family and I will lose them no matter what I do' territory.

Needless to say, ME2 was traumatizing. She's still kinda numb, actually. But I'm betting by the time ME3 rolls around she's gonna take that numbness, turn it into avenging angel type anger (can you tell Garrus is her BFF?), and aim it at the Reapers... and anyone else who gets in her way. Blaze of glory time, ohhhh yeah.

And thanks for reminding me, I gotta finish this fic I've been sitting on, which addresses her Earthborn background in the first place. :P

For 3 of the 4 femSheps I currently have playthroughs for pre-service history carries more weight in their development. Two are colonists (Lucy & Prosperity) and one is earthborn (Jih). For my spacer, Andromeda, it is her psych profile - war hero - that defines her.

Merc: Great! Now hold that pose and sneer. I said sneer, not growl! Now hold still while I get my pastels!
Shepard: Wut?!

Backstory: Both are importnt w/ UJ.  Mindoir. Akuze as well as other trials in her life are what turned her into the person she is.

With Raine, I kinda picked both to be more extreme in comparison with my other two chars, and she formed to fit around it, while still fitting 'me' as well. She was supposed to have some rough edges.
Her personality is product (in part) of her pre-service history and the reason for her psych profile actions.
I reckon as such, neither and both for me.
