I think the scarring in ME was a good thing in that regard. I mean, it shows that Shepard has been in harm's way, and looks like she's earned her spot as a Spectre. Looking perfect? Not by a long shot.

Oh heres a close up of Little Miss Popular

Snip

femshep the rockstar.

honestly, i adore them all. my only complaint is that they look a *little* young for...what's femshep at now? 33?

I was thinking that about her age haha.

I would have prefered to vote on close up of faces, definately now as larger images are now floating about and have a few people feeling like some faces fit really well but didn't notice. The hair colour could have easily been voted on seperately.

Indeed, she almost looks fresh out of the Alliance Graduate Academy :P

A little more grit and battle harden would be nice.  Same can be said with a couple of others.  Still they do look great now we can see more detail.

^^ Yeah, looks a little young.  Maybe she started using EternaGel or went to Galactic Beauty Solutions.

I thought people generally looked younger in the MEverse than they would in today's world?

Nah, she's just been thinking super good thoughts. Paragons look youthful, renegades will start looking older and older with each ~cruel and evil~ renegade thought.

I wanna play renegade grandma Shepard.

Seems likely, Humanity was isolated from the Council's strict DNA modification laws for decades allowing Bio-Tech companies to basically run wild. With an econimic system based on capitalist principles it would be far more likely they'd develop a large array of cosmetic gene therapy treatments and retroviruses, since those would be FAR more profitable than weening out some rare genetic disease or curing cancer. It's almost gauranteed that there was widespread and dramatic genetic rewrite of the Human genome prior to First Contact as citizens in first world countries would pay to erase the genetic markers that cause humans to age or even gain weight.

That's not even factoring that ME2 stuff where Shepard's very skin and muscle tissue is criss-crossed with enough cybernetic and synthetic hardware to glow in the dark.

I don't see how she couldn't be 30, considering she didn't age for two years, and got a major skin treatment from Cerberus. Also, in the second book, most woman look younger despite being older, as Sanders explains.

Some think she should be more battlewore, but I don't really mind. I also don't really care about the "battlewore" thing, mainly because Maleshep doesn't really look battle worn to me (he looks like a dude with a shaved head). Nor did the original default femshep. Do they look ideally beautiful for a soldier? Oh course. Not over the top like Miranda, but they're the ideal soldier, which is what default Shepard is meant to be.

Considering they're suppose to be a face that sell copies at a glance, in my opinion, they're exactly what they need to be. Anything else defeats the point. The last thing you want is a face and appearance that doesn't have any affect, or worse, turns people away.

The point of ideal is A) to sell copies, and B) to be something people want, or want to be. Like a fantasy.

Shepard (all 6 of them) looks like a tough but attractive individual, who others would want to be, history aside. A symbol of humanity.

Tried to age her a bit, but I like the original better. :?

I understand all the stuff about Cerberus reconstruction and humans aging slower in the future, but the thing is Sheploo looks super wrinkled, while Femshep looks like right out of the beauty salon.

Well, lets keep in mind that this picture is an fairly (forgive me) poor rendition of the actual in game model. We don't know what kind of skin texture she'll have, what she'll look like when she's not giving us the marketing-glare, or even what she really looks when she's actually looking at us profile.

Even the Vanderloo Shepard version of this picture hardly reflects on what he actually looks like in game.

^ That's true. This is a drawing; she's look different when they make a render and add a good skin texture. One more reason to look forward to the trailer!

30 isn't that old... *is 25* I have several friends who are in their late 20s early 30s and they could still pass for early 20s. Plus in ME humans live to be about 150. Wouldn't do us much good if we fall apart 1/5 that age. The books even mentioned Kahlee being almost 50 and not looking her age at all.

Heh, you really don't see much difference between mid 20s and mid 30s half the time.
30+ isn't old, not like these are the middle-ages where you'd be dead at 40 etc =)

This

If you compare photos of me from when I was 25 and now, at 29, you couldn't tell the difference.

It's skin detail rather than age. She hasn't got pores or cheekbone shadows. Her face feels airbrushed.

The blonde Shep pic is too light though, normalizing the image some she looks like this:

Slight difference, but better on the skintone I think, even though I don't mind her being pale. Some people just are.

A natural blonde are very pale so .. I mean i'm from Sweden so i meet a lot of blondes all the time and this Shepard is normal, especially if you compare her to a blonde in the middle of the winter
The pic Ottemis uploaded shows her off much better
