I didn't mean to imply that I'm not excited about femShep being represented. I am. I'm really excited. But I was just trying to explain that having people make sexist comments about the new femSheps, or complain that they're too butch/barbie is ultimately a fairly shallow (forgive me) thing to worry about.
From the very start of this series, femShep should've been represented as mShep's equal counter part. EVEN if she didn't make it into as many trailers, or posters as him.
The important thing is that she's finally being represented. I agree 100%
The fact that she's just now getting her own custom model(s), is what came too late. And thus, I'm not going to be overly excited about it (the custom femShep).
You ladies/lads have made some of the best Shepards I've ever seen. I've come from several gaming and social boards to Bioware's (late last year), and the creativity here is...beyond words! ELE, f1r3st0rm, Ottemis, etc etc, and in particular you, nranola, have made femShepards that sh!t all over the girls in these six panels. And you know what? You guys/gals have had 4 years to hone your PC making skills to a fine art. Same with me, I guess.
So, in the end, the six panels don't really mean anything at all to me. The fact that Shepard's being finally given the trailer she deserves? That's huge. But the girl's in those pictures were created with new technology for a new game four years after ME1 came out. We created our ass kicking Shepards, not with new tools and new tech, but with old tools and old tech. And the results? Just look around.
:)
I wasn't doubting your enthusiasm for the femShep exposure. Sorry if it came out that way. >__<
It's true, the new femShep will likely not have much appeal to the people who have played with their own femSheps all this time so it's mostly catered to people who take ME3 as an entry point. But, to me at least, that doesn't mean the concern for how she looks like shouldn't be there. It's only now that she's given the spotlight, and it might be a tad too late for a lot of us, but it's still an opportunity for us to showcase this badass of a woman more prominently and collectively.
tl;dr, I think deciding what the promotional femShep looks like is a big deal and I completely understand why so many people are getting huffy about it. xD
It really is amazing what everyone has done with their Sheps what little tools they were given. The six new femSheps have the advantage of custom textures and more refined face models and hair and whatnot, they're bound to look great in ME3, but I think a lot of what's been posted here levels up to them, which is pretty amazing.

I miss the scars we had in ME1, I don't dislike the scars from ME2. And it makes sense that Shepard wouldn't have her old scar since Cerberus rebuilt her. But my Shep is a paragon, so boring old smooth skin. I miss her eyebrow and lip scar...
I miss the ME1 scars, too.

It added a lot of personality (and customization) to Shepard.

Needless to say that I'm very much so enjoying my ME1 re-run.

On a roleplaying aspect Jennelyn mourned the loss of her scars come ME2. It's one of those things that reminded her of the hardships she'd endured, people she lost, to get to where she was now. Losing her scars was like losing a part of herself.
Well... technically she lost a
lot of herself in Lazarus, but you get the idea. xD
