Shepard’s War - The best article on BioWare's femShep marketing campaign. (IMHO)
Fortunately, it's more about the happy accident that is femshep than the campaign itself.
Great article Jamie, Thanks for sharing.
Nothing would ruin Shepard like ramping up the more traditional ‘girl
power’ elements instead of simply letting her have power, full stop,
stemming from her ability to save the universe twice before breakfast.
Nothing would be more annoying than her losing either her friendly side
or her authoritarian side in some focus-grouped attempt to create
another Strong Female Character. She’s exactly right as she is right now
– the beloved dark horse of the franchise who manages to have her cake,
eat it, smash the plate into some alien ****’s face, then head back to jam with Joker, cheer up Tali, and sell out on the Citadel.
This pretty much sums up my feelings about FemShep. She is not exactly a femme fatale (though she is indeed a 'deadly woman') She isn't a Spice Girl 'Girl Power.' Nor is she a raging feminist. She is a smart, tactical genius who happens to be a woman. She is cousins to Ellen Ripley and Sarah Connor (Who FYI happens to be blonde too.) Really she isn't Female Shepard to me, she is Lieutenant-Commander Shepard of the Special Tactics and Reconnaissance, a Special Forces N7, Hero of the Citadel, and the person who is going to give the Reapers a military-issued boot in the ass in ME3.
Ah Crap ToP, searches for screenshot... TADA!

Boot meet Reaper, Reaper meet Boot.
