Re: malevolent non-acceptance directed towards blonde female Shepard. I can't grasp why this is an issue at all. Let's take a look at different groups of players getting started with ME3.
1. You have an imported character, who might be a redhead, brunette, dark-haired, blonde, modded pink with green stripes, whatever. You're not affected, even if they put different presets into the game. Don't like the face on the cover? Well if it bothers you so much that you can't live with it, and are able to, make your own with your custom darling(s). I know I will. You say you can't? Try to live with it then.
2. You've never played ME1 or 2. Really, what's wrong with you? Go buy them now, plus all the shiny DLC. You definitely won't regret it. Don't want to? That's alright, though I'm afraid you'll have to be happy with what you get in this case.
3. You're not interested in any aspect of Mass Effect, just have a knack for complaining/b*tching on the internet about anything. It's only dust in the wind, sunshine. Go find a nice hobby instead.
Sorry for being a little blunt and typing loads. Have a short version as well.
There's always a diplomatic solution for dealing with narrow-minded people:

On a side note, I just purchased a Wacom Bamboo Pen and can't wait to receive it so that I can start editing screenshots in the same wonderful style everyone else here has been indulging in.
Where'd you order yours from? I'm thinking of getting one myself, but wanna get it new, but at a good price.:)
It was only $56.00 from Amazon, and with free shipping. They sell refurbished tablets as well but without the free shipping option so the price comes out to only a few dollars less than the brand new one.

I personally couldn't do cosplay. Not saying that there's anything wrong with it but sometimes even looking, well, I guess English doesn't have equivalent word for myötähäpeä... But that's me.Captain Crash wrote...

In general I choose hairstyle first but there were a couple of instances where I wanted to use a very specific feature.
for Prosperity it was her eyebrows

for Jih it was her nose

For Sarah it was the face shape. I already knew how i wanted it and then after that everything started to fall into place

Jawline for me, for all of them, after that came facestructure combined with a rotation in eyeshapes and hairstyles.
Then emotiveness is very important for me, so I always check them out ingame.
Which is also why i friggin adore Raine, I've caught her showing such a variety of emotions she just feels more real to me then the other two, even though Jane has a knack for it too.

A bit tricky question since I have only one femShep look that I reuse. I fell in love with face structure 9 and classy hair, then the eyes, lips and nose. After that it was tweaking hell - the rest. After zillion small changes and countless restarts I was happy.nranola wrote...

It's true, though. My very first shep, ages ago, had the blonde 'custom sexy' haircut and really pale skin. at first it was about making her look like me, and then it was about making her into a colonist farmgirl turned marine (and being from the US, my idea of 'farmgirl' was that i wanted her to be an athletic, country-fresh-looking blonde)
While i'd tried variations along the way, for me making my canon shep was about tweaking her until her face what what i expected to see when the camera swung around and showed that blonde shep's face.

^ 80% of the sheps i played looked like this from the back

^ it was just getting her to look like i wanted her to from the front. i didn't really know exactly what i wanted until i made it. then i was like, 'that's it!' and i haven't changed her since.
and...

zomg, LOVE this adjusted haircut. I am seriously going to print out this picture and take it to my stylist. i am not even kidding. this wouldn't be the first time i took my stylist a page of manga or a screenshot from a video game. she thinks i'm crazy. ;p

When I create a character (not only FemShep), I start with the eyes. Then her nose and lips. After that her face shape. And at the end I choose a hairstyle.
Mikaela as an example

On a side note, this is the new shep I've made, basically it's an old femshep 'remastered' with some new facial traits, face textures, complexion...
This is what I've got so far:

I shall post the previous version so you can see the differences, but I'll have to do it later :c.
Anyway, any tips comments or critics are welcome since I've got no idea what to do with her XD

I based Kallen's appearanceoff the Code Geass character Kallen Kouzuki so she had to have Red hair and green eyes and the longest possible hair. her eyes had to be big as well and the eyes just to the left of default fit her perfectly for her renegade glares, especially when her eyes start glowing.
oh yeah, pics

UJ is based on a character I created a long time ago and so I knew off the bat what I wanted. The trick was getting her as close as possible. The pale skin came first, followed by the long black hair and blue eyes. Originally, I just wanted her to have a bump in her nose, but that wasn't possible w/ the ME CC. So she eventually ended up with a classic roman nose, which gave her a bit of a masculine quality. Oddly enough, this contrasted well w/ her big blue eyes. Though she isn’t an example of feminine beauty, there is something kind of regal about her (or maybe I'm biased). And unlike Kyrie, who has the “country fresh” look, UJ’s appearance sort of dictated her colony back story as "a rebel without a clue."

To be honest, I don't know. Sometimes hair, sometimes face shape, sometimes nose, I really never have a set plan for any of my Sheps, I just...go with it, even with a plan, I just tweak it at points. Like for Lili, I wanted a beautiful badass, she could kick ass and look good doing it. For other Sheps, like Titra, I just go with what I like the look of (it's also why I never make them wear helmets, I spend to much damn time on their faces to just cover them up) but yeah, it kinda depends I suppose.nranola wrote...

She's got a sexy side but also a commander side too. That's the plan I usually have in mind, however, with my Sheps. I think I got that pretty well done with my Sheps, mainly Lili, but....

Cheeks and facial structure. My biggest gripe in character creation and very difficult to perfect for every angle. Additionally getting a balance with cheek bones is tough. I like them visable, but not overly pronounced so that they look fake or have a sharp edge.

My development process on Jessica was interesting and kind of backwards, actually. I started with a general Face 7 that I tweaked and pinched and pulled to try and get the proportions as close to anatomically correct as the character creator allows. I think I based her originally off a face code on the ME2 Faces database site. I played her through a full playthrough of ME1, then a full ME2 playthrough on which I tweaked her a bit, but the third playthrough (ME1 again) I finally settled upon the nose she now wears, and that’s what pulled it all together.

That’s when she finally turned into Jessica. I switched the mouth out as well, but that was icing on the cake.

By now I design based on experience since if I counted all the various characters and versions of those character I've created across all the games I've played with the custom face option I've probably made over a hundred of them. I can take a mental concept and put it into the creator or look at a character and have a pretty good idea of what I need to do next and what features I'll need to pick. It's like a writer who knows how to use a word in a sentence even if they can't give you a dictionary definition of what that word means.
I can tell how all the sliders are going to work and combine together to create certain shapes that then inform the colour combinations I'll pick.

I usually start with the Hairstyle then get the face shape and jaw line done after that. With Hrist I knew I wanted her to have the short hairstyle and be a brunette, the rest I just made up on the fly. I tweaked things a bit over the months but she hasn't changed that drastically from her initial design.

For Nemain, my biggest focus was her cheek and jawline. She needed to look petite and lithe. I like the overall diamond shape of her face(which is helped by her lack of hair) and she comes pretty close to how I imagined her:

The same applied to Indra. Face shape first, everything else second. Of course with her I wanted a much more broad look. She needed to look mean, but without any need for scarring:

[b]For Devi I started with her general face shape and skin tone. I wanted someone with a well defined profile that looked as though it belonged on an ancient coin, and I also wanted someone that looked as ambiguous as possible ethnic-wise.![]()
LOL, I really like how you described her as being on the back of a coin! Great work!
