I really don’t care about what bioware does with their default, I won’t be using it anyway.   I’m just happy with the extra exposure femshep is receiving.

As for me, I’ll be importing femsheps with 3 different hair colors into into ME3.

Oh picture time. Well here's the lady I will be playing ME3 with - to each their own:

And here's a pic of how she feels when people try to hijack her for their own ends:

Well, okay.  My apologies for disrupting your thread.  I meant no harm and certainly didn't mean to come across as antagonistic or without empathy for those who are excited about FemShep being featured.  I'm not even that upset about the choice of blonde FemShep and if I came across as hostile that was certainly not my intent.  I'm excited that FemShep's getting marketed as I have stated a few times in other places.  I just wanted to offer a different perspective and I wasn't trying to hijack anything with any sort of hidden agenda.

I usually just lurk around here because I like to see other people's creations and their versions of Shepard.  I thought I saw some unfair comments.  I was wrong.  So again, my apologies.

EDIT: Took out apparently so that it is obvious that I'm being sincere and not sarcastic.

Talk about taking a fairly innocuous comment and completely overreacting.

Do you consider this comment by Adneate innocuous?

"And there is the reality behind this faux "controversy" and asinine "debate", it's a total lie when people get up on their high horse and tell everyone else that they should do this or that and make some social stand with a default face gen setting. What they really are saying, without just being honest and just actually saying it, is that #5 doesn't look enough like their Shepard. Since they obviously have perfect taste and a boundless intellect and would never pick something that was wrong, everyone else should do what they do and like what they like and think about it the way they do."

   Followed by...

"It seems like most people have totally lost the point of why anybody wanted something like this in the first place, it wasn't to make some statement against Western standards of beauty or start some media revolution. It was to make clear that the female Commander Shepard was just as valid an option as the male counterpart and others (both male and female) should try it. So that maybe others who didn't know about her could prehaps enjoy the character as much as we all do."

I'd be hard pressed to come up with a comment as dismissive as this and I have every right to point out its absurdity with my own bit of snark.

After all these people value their own opinion very highly, shouldn't you value their opinion just as much?

If by "their opinion" you are referring to simply appreciating the exposure that FemShep is now receiving and rejecting all of the dumb-blonde jokes and implications that blondes aren't as capable; well, that's something that I have already agreed with many pages back.

I for one, could care less what color skin or hair they make default femshep.

And I for one, do care. Others not caring does not mean that they get a free pass for making negative remarks without being called out on it.

This kind of hostile attitude is so out of nowhere and does nothing to further your cause.

Right...because all it takes is one snarky reply to turn everyone against some of the issues fans like me had with the Facebook contest.
~~

By leggywillow....

I'm just trying to put it in perspective, and I'm also trying to figure out why I'm the only one who remembers that Twitter posts from months back basically saying "Haha, of course FemShep will be caucasian, anything else would be weird at this point!"  I found that a bit more dismissive than this whole voting hubbub, but it seems no one was offended by that and I'm curious as to why.  Publicity, I guess.

Must be publicity because I do not visit Twitter often and whatever ME news I hesistantly receive is filtered through other sites or this thread. BTW, I should have just directed my earlier post to Adneate. Rereading your quoted post, I admit you were unfairly targeted.

You have nothing to apologize for. You said everything I have been feeling all along(and in a much more palatable way...)

Now commence the photo spams that will inevitably bury this argument in a page or two.

Sorry if it was unclear, but I was referring to the post by leggywillow.

I have already said this is not the place for this kind of debate you persist in perpetuating, so I'm just going to leave it at that.

I have no desire to have this debate with you. Do with that what you will.

Give me a break. You post a lengthy response to my earlier post and you expect me not to reply to you? Don't try to paint me as the odd the one out when this topic as been passed around by other members as well, and within the last 5 pages or so. I'm more than happy to drop it completely from this point on.

And THIS is why I think that a trailer that shows the CC, leading into the creation of BW's femShep, and displaying some of the game play would be really an excellent way to market femShep -- along with mShep (to a lesser degree).

Now, please don't misunderstand me, ladies-- I'm not saying that the two genders should get different marketing trailers when I say "to a lesser degree". If they decide to show a CC based trailer for femShep, they should obviously do the same for mShep.

However, Bioware can already safely count on a casual male audience to see their commercials for ME3, and purchase their title. Doing the same for a casual female audience ("casual" eliminates most women on this forum) will be more difficult.

If EA could even get two trailers for TV, one displaying femShep exclusively, one displaying mShep exclusively, each 29 seconds long (or however long the commercial restrictions are today), devote maybe 10 seconds to the CC ----> default fe(m)Shep, and the remaining 19 seconds to fast paced game play that would really help differentiate them from Halo and Gears of War.

But plenty of people already like shooters, so why wouldn't they get this?

Because of what "shooters" have turned into in the last five years -- social shooters. COD, Halo, Gears of War, they all have a key component that ME lacks: multiplayer. If your friends are playing a certain game together, the average consumer will want to join in (once again, this doesn't apply to everyone). Look at how much money the above shooters bring in, and tell me I'm wrong.

ME3 (thank the gods) doesn't have multiplayer. Therefore, it really has to sell itself on being more than just a SP exclusive shooter to compete with the other big titles. The average consumer doesn't know Bioware. The average consumer doesn't know Bungie either. But they do know what their friends and coworkers are playing.

With a trailer displaying the CC, you can reach out to not only casual gamers, but minorities, people of different age groups, and people who fit into groups like goths, hipsters, or whatever. You can still display the default Shepard in your trailer, but the CC shows casual viewers that they can play as whom ever they want. If you only show casual viewers the default Shepard, they won't know the option is there.

That is all.

Seriously, enough with the complaining about the way Bioware chose to pick THEIR default Jane.

Yes. That is a good way to see the entire thing.

BioWare was having a little trouble making their shep. they could have asked ELE, but instead they asked the fans for an opinion.

anyhow, i hope they have fun playing her. i am going to post femshep pictures of random origin:
