I was tired of the hate and negativity when it started. That kind of "discussion" drives away people who want game discussion.

Well, it seems BW likes to see their fanbase tear each other apart. They could have easily avoided most of this by choosing her themselves. Instead, we ended up with people recriminating other people's preferences on basis that aren't related to the actual point: FemShep into BW's marketing.

I wouldn't say that Jwalker. If they'd just created her we'd all be complaining about bioware forcing their vision of her on us and what we think is wrong with her etc etc. They tried to put it in our hands to see what we wanted but of course if certain people don't get what tey want they complain to any and everyone and then everyone and their grandma starts arguing. Bioware tried to give us control but the fan base sucks in that aspect. I say just put blonde Femshep in there and give her the most ass kicking scenes for her trailer.

They enforced their vision of the male space marine on everybody. They enforced their vision on how a kick ass lady looks like in Thedas. So ?

Yes, there would have been complaints. But all those complaints would have been towards BW. But what happened is people complaing, sometimes indirectly somtimes not,  against other fans' preferences.

I didn't vote for her, but I'm pretty sure I would have felt insulted for some of things I read. If someone had to do some stand in regards of standards of beauty and such, that should have been BW.  Not me. If someone thought this was an opportunity for such a stand, good. They could make it so. In the end, they would have been expressing their preference, just like everybody else.

Look on the bright side!

We've gone from wondering whether we'd see a few screenshots of femshep to anticipating a trailer and bukus of femshep propaganda. That's a huge "win" in my book. Recent events may have left us with scorch marks and stunned looks on our faces (hehehe), but at least we're not being shrugged off like second rate citizens by BioWare.

What you said wrote! If anything of significance has been overlooked during this whole discussion, it's the fact that femshep will never equal or surpass her real-life counterparts. The character is fortunate to have captured the adoration and imagination of so many smart, passionate fans IMHO.

Kathryn, Kyrie, Drea, Teagan, Holly, Noah, Jane and the crazy-long list of other, no less significant femsheps "out there" owe their collective awesomeness to the peeps who moulded and internalized them to begin with. It's impossible to conjure a singular, homogenized vision of Commander Shepard that sufficiently represents this. The fact that there will be any such representation, at all, is more than good enough for me.

Regardless, I view the new face of Commander Shepard as the face of BioWare's participation in these ongoing femshep festivities. Their participation is most welcome!

I guess it could be stated that there are no great strides without great barriers when it comes to gender equality -- especially (and never more prevalent) in the gaming industry. Perhaps Bioware is [subconsciously] about to make a huge leap for feminism in gaming?

And yeah in theory you could take her face/top neck part and combine it with a separate picture for alternative clothing but you'd always have to blend the neckline and skintone.

The white circular thing in the background actually makes it look a bit like one of those really broad sidemounted hats? I like.

Hmph. Oh, that icky "Western" stuff, or whatever they could grasp at to make a complaint. All I saw in the images was a group of ladies in combat gear who looked like they were about to kick someone's butt and hopefully not mine. I didn't bother voting since I was going to use my custom Sheps anyway.

Not sure about the complaints about "too beautiful" since a woman who is at that age group, in good shape, etc., is usually going to look very good, even spectacular, but that's just my icky guy view on things.

Gonna do one more round before moving onto to something else...sneaky assassinations in Assassin's Creed: BH.   In this round, I guess I have to bite down (cringe at the dialogue and behaviour from Shep too) and do something I never wanted to do initailly...have Shep cheat on Kaiden.  But I guess I'm just curious to see what would happen in ME3, whatever Kai's gonna say? And Shep gonna to answer if he pulls her up on it. Should she sic Horizoon and tempus fugit (blah blah) on him? hehe.

Actually I love how you can get out and use it a massive barrier against get Colossus's.  Yeah it goes down to one bar of health, but not any lower!!

I wish there were an easy way to change outfits without having to redraw parts (yes, I am lazy) but atleast ME1 armor is a bit easier to work around.

Nemain looks amazing, Handles! She looks too unique to be a custom Shepard. Her facial structure doesn't appear to bear any resemblance to the femshep face template.
