If that's the case, why are we voting at all and not just sticking to the original default Jane Shepard?

Because doing it like this gets thousands of people involved in the process, increasing the visibility of FemShep while at the same time getting user input.  I'm not saying it's the best way to go about things, but from a marketing perspective, if they had just unceremoniously dropped a FemShep trailer it not only would have flopped, it would have raised a big stink from the ManShep fans who felt Sheploo was getting pushed aside (much like they're doing now).

Oh dear, round 2 voting happened as we feared. Another tank division sent down the road. Ceased to care, just hope that the blonde choice will be reinforced, so it will be proven how unnecessary all this is, and to see the foaming-at-the-mouth, amusing rants. I'm a terrible person, I know. On a positive note, the wallpapers were a really nice gesture, therefore all is forgiven.

Wake me up when the results run in.

So.. if this is a hair colour choice, why did they not give them all the same eye colour? I would never have noticed the difference so clearly without that image that Ottemis just posted.

Probably in order to make her look more like default FemShep from ME1 and 2.

Then why is this vote even necessary?

Because it’s a case of the best intentions meets marketing.  I truly believe BioWare and Mr. Silverman had the best of intentions w/ the vote, but it had to benefit BioWare in some way as well as femShep fans.  The voting was a marketing move to give a few loyal fans what they wanted plus help spread the word about ME3 and Shepard.  And boy did it ever.  They could not have planned this to work so well in their favor and gain so much publicity in so short a time.  The only downside is that the voting went by so quickly that femShep never (to my knowledge) got picked up in a print publication.

I don't know, all this drama could cause a bit of a backlash (and I think it already has).  They should have just improved Jane Shepard (improved the face model and etc) and marketed her straight away in the trailers instead of prolonging this needless vote.

And I still don't know why Sheploo is even coming up in arguments anymore, only a small majority actually use him.

I'd be much happier if they did something like sagequeen's video, where they do a mashup of a bunch of different FemSheps performing the same actions, with something like "Create the hero that will save the world" as the tagline.

I've been saying this from the start.

I don't like vote about our hero with doubts in mind & not knowing if really I am following my ideals I have been defending for a year or well, being swept out by the collective thought. Altho I voted in the first round, don't like the way BW have taken with FemShep so surely I am not gonna vote this time.

Same. I'm staying back this time. I voted for a femShep poster child, not a public CC.

True, and I agree that it already has caused backlash.  I also think that had they simply used default Jane, high-res textures or no, without obtaining any user input there would have been backlash as well.  But at least now they've increased FemShep's visibility prior to the launch of the trailer.

I still don't like the way things are going, but that's more because I don't want FemShep to simply be a carbon copy of Sheploo the Action Hero™, only now with boobs!

And that's pretty much what most of us wanted.

Here's my thought about the voting from the beginning:

BW have already planned ahead for two rounds on voting for the new default femshep, the first would be the overall appearance and the second one is more concentrate on the hair as we see it now. There should be mainly three reasons for doing all this:

1)To let the fan, and the rest to vote for the best one they feel comfortable with
2)Bring attentions from the gamers also the recognition of Femshep
3)The trailer need this amount of time to become a well rendered, designed one.

If my assumption is right, BW has already know how Femshep's fan will react on the voting, they know we wouldn't really care about how she looks like; on the other hand, by giving out the choice to vote is all about marketing and meet our main concern ,more recognition of Femshep, can be achieved at the same time.

I deeply doubt there will be a round 3 and the next we will have shall be the long waited trailer.

Please relax fellows, the trailer will be delivered. Afterall, BW can't just simply satisfy fan's need but also on the marketing strategy as well, if they can make more profit, how could they have the resources to support and make better game, eh? :)

I'm not going to waste my time on making an account on Facebook just to vote on hair colour. Default Femshep has always been a redhead, Bioware should just stick with that.

It appears that Red is taking the lead as of now. The gal with black hair is second place and the two blondies are last.

Huh, and after all that 'death to blonde shep' sh*t, too. Funny how everyone really wanted a brunette or a red-head, they just liked the hairstyle of blondie best.

Long hair tends to be popular, I guess, esp. among the folks voting. "Long hair is sexy hair" and all that.

I just want to hide in a corner from all the ignorant people and hum myself a lullaby now.
I can understand that the people who pref a redhead are very happy with the revote, don't get me wrong. I just don't understand how people seem to be forgetting about all the hate blondy gets and got, and realising that there are people now voting against Blondy ON PRINCIPLE rather then personal pref for a different color.

The (negative) attention this first vote got has undoubtedly attracted more people for the second poll, and seeing the negative attention miss blondy got you can bet your behind they ain't all voting with pure intentions either.

That's aside from the fact that we were voting with the idea of picking a general favorite, and having known beforehand that we'd be granted another opportunity to vote on something like haircolor would have changed the inital votes outcome aswell. So basicly, this second vote invalidates the outcome from the first doesn't it.

It's not a fair vote, it's all tainted now.
Anyways, carry on.

Meh. It's not even so much that. For me, it's that every month they delay showing femShep is a month less that she'll be marketed. We shouldn't forget why this whole femShep default thing was set up in the first place: to be marketed.

There's a difference between marketing and exploitation.

Altho I have my preference, don't matter so much the race, hair color..etc of Shepard in the box & trailer. What bothers me is that Bioware organize that "Beauty contest". Shep doesn't deserve that. BW could have been made an EPIC goal, they have all in their hands... and they limit to this. Disappointing.

I think that these polls are doing a good job in themselves of marketing her.

It's pretty much become the no.1 topic of conversation on the ME3 boards, for the last few weeks. As a result, it's likely to have piqued the interest of those who otherwise would not have considered playing as FemShep, and make them more likely to play as FemShep on ME3's release.

I voted for the original #5 (and went back to vote for #6 as well the next day). It was just process of elimination for me. I didn't care for the first three styles because I felt the pulled back styles in the game were not implemented very well so I skipped over those. That left 4, which I nixed because I didn't like the hair blocking the entire eyeball like that. I liked both 5 and 6, but picked 5 because she looked like she just got out of a fight. It was messy and unkempt. Hair length and color wasn't a consideration -- just the overall attitude/presentation, which I felt #5 conveyed best. (#6 was a tad bit too salon-ish. If I had known that #1 was actually a short haircut instead of pulled back, I would have probably voted for that, too. I didn't look at the larger resolution until too late.)

tin hat firmly on head

It's odd that BW have given Red green eyes and freckles instead of blue eyes and the beauty spot the other 3 have. It's as if they want Red to stick out more.

I voted for her regardless because for me that *is* Default Jane but I can't help but feel a bit manipulated.

Be awesome but she is too old to be Shepard. Headey is almost 40.
