This thread has slowed down a lot.

So, then... just gonna share a new screenie of a moment with some slight emotional suppression going on.

Very slight, yes.  Almost unnoticeable in fact.  Really.

It's the ME3 forums that are causing this. The whole ME2 section is "almost" dead.

I agree with this. I was gone from these forums for about four months and when I came back, I got excited to see the ME3 forums and was delighted to see they had one set aside specifically for characters and romances. I checked the ME3 forums constantly, but I just couldn't find the FemShep thread. There is a thread dedicated to Shepard and I thought maybe FemShep thread had to merge with the male Shep thread? Took a bit of searching, but I finally found the FemShep thread in the last place I'd think to look -- in the ME2 section. =p I'm a little puzzled why every other fan thread has moved over to ME3, but FemShep stayed behind.

People are afraid of the **** storm what might happen if someone starts separate femShep/maleShep thread there.

There is. I do wonder what would happen if someone started one. The combined thread doesn't seem to be too popular either. Too much stuff (potentially) in one thread, maybe.

I could poke Woo about it? I poked him about the other thread before.

Poke, harass or seduce - what ever it take, feel free to try. It would be nice to break this current situation.

Stanely Woo has made it clear that there is to only be one Shepard thread in the ME3 section.  After the "Commander Shepard" thread started up, some guys made a manShep thread and it was shut down.  Ryn and I asked if we could make a femShep thread in the ME3 section.  He said no.

I suppose we could take that thread over, but we would have to step a little more lightly and ignore any insults, personal or otherwise.

EDIT: Alternately, I could create a femShep.com phbb forum, but it would not be part of BSN.

I find his reaction rather weird. It would make sense to split the thread. It would make it much easier to read and follow since it's rather confusing to have two in one. Technically it's the same character, yes but still. Combined Kaidan and Ashley thread wouldn't work obviously.

I thought this thread was staying where it was because it had been decided to leave femshep spoiler free for all the individuals that did not want to be exposed to spoilers ahead of time.

We wanted to have two threads, this one for the non-spoilers and one for spoilers in the ME3 section.

Both Ryn and I wrote rather lengthy messages and his responce indicated that he didn't really bother to read them beyond, "We want a femShep thread in the ME3 section."  In other words, I don't think he cares. His response to Ryn bordered on rude.

Nice work!  How did you get the biotic effect?  I'm trying to do a custom picture at the moment, but I suck so hard at Photoshop it's not true!

Cheers! Though I normally don't like to disclose technicalities, this is an exception, because you're the only one who commented. It wasn't too complex really, just played with opacity/lighting/smudge and filters like twirl and ripple until it became a sort of "singularity in birth".

Why do I feel this Mod is simply ignoring the needs from fan? We all know that Bioware cares about its fans and their comments, they even dare to make all character in DA2 to be both sex orientated, and they let this happen on their very own forum?

I had made a comment on how the thread fail on delivering his so-called "all Shepard are the same and should share the same love" in that thread and its operator just simply ignore it. =.=

And Moderator Woo, if it isn't that I respect you as moderator, I would have go around you and talk with David or Chris about this issue. If you are reading this comment, please reconsider your decision.

Everyone makes mistake, there's no shame on admitting it; what it matters is to correct the mistake afterward.

It's a nice thought to have two threads going but as we've seen with the character threads, once a thread is going in the ME3 section people tend to use it for everything and the one in the ME2 section sees very little action.

For me at this point it's not a big deal, I'm mainly concerned with storyline spoilers and BW has been good about not releasing anything significant so far but we do have other posters that are trying to avoid any kind of spoiler.

It's something to keep in mind.

So here's your question: What background/war record is your Shep, and how do you feel it affects the way she approaches the world?

as much as i get tired of the "my family got wiped out" chesnut, the way i saw my shep playing out, i wanted to give her the most solid grounding i possibly could before she got hit with the madness that is mer ME/ME2 life. spacer just didn't have the stabilty i wanted, earthborn is (clearly) a little harsh, so i went with colonist. it allowed me to imagine kyrie had this foundation of strength and love that is her touchstone of what is right and good in the galaxy.

for her service record, i liked war hero best because i imagined all that press might be really unwelcome. i picture her as feeling the praise was undeserved and becoming really reserved as a result of people thinking she's either a total hero or a basket case from mindoir.

so yeah. that's why i chose those. in my fanfic i then had a lot of fun using those as a starting point for how she manages to get back to a place of more peace, even in the eye of the storm, as it were.

I'm not really sure to be honest. I know we were looking into it... but in the past it's always proven to either be too expensive computationally, or it hasn't really met some of the visual requirements.

At a guess, you're not going to get anything super fancy - like deforming / fanning / rippling in the wind kind of stuff.

If anything (and that's an if), you're probably looking at some more simple spring based stuff (small amounts of jiggle and bounce), or possibly something animated.

That said, I know we've been putting a lot of work into the visuals of the hair... trying to make it look appropriately shiny and hair-like... I'm just not sure how much that extends into making it actually physically bounce and move.

@sagequeen - Thanks for the link earlier to your modding blog. I've got a few outfits to choose from now, that aren't Cerberus related. I planned to use the Alliance uniform, but after putting it on Kat and seeing her in it on the SR-2, it just wasn't right. Although still loyal, she isn't really in the Alliance right now, and is actually working for people who are antagonistic towards the Alliance. While she knows this is necessary, she hates it, and feels that wearing an Alliance uniform just wouldn't be right.

Anyways, I wound up restarting Kat for ME2, because while I planned for her to be an Adept, she's actually more aggressive, and the Vanguard in ME2 just fits her better. Plus, she was a Vanguard in ME1, so the continuity works well. I also took the opportunity to change her hairstyle (and nothing else). I just wanted there to be a physical "symbol" of her death and resurrection, so I changed her hairstyle to the short curls. It makes sense that while on the operating table, Lazarus kept her hair cut short. As much as she hates how it happened, she actually likes the short hair (easier to manage under a helmet, etc) so she's keeping it for the entirety of ME2. Not sure if I'll change it again in ME3, but that's for the future.

And now, for a long overdue pic-bomb of Kat in ME2!

Regarding face/head mods and savegame imports, the following is also worth mentioning, since lots of peeps here including myself modify their FemSheps to varying degrees:

Brenon Holmes wrote...

Balek-Vriege wrote...

I'm
hoping the custom hairs and Ashley's face texture are the same and also
have the same name. A lot of custom Femsheps depend on those hairs and
that complexion to look cool. If they're not the result would most
likely be similar to messing up the name in gibbed save editor (I think
it just doesn't show, rather than crashing the game). You would then
have to create new Shep face.

I would love to see a new cc like DA2's, but that would almost surely mess up modded custom sheps.

I believe the asset names have changed, and iirc if the player appearance system can't find the asset it simply fails to load... so no hair or hat or fish, or whatever you've modded in and put on your head.  [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/happy.png[/smilie]

In terms of the morph heads, those are a little more complicated, but theoretically it should work the same... the only thing is that some of the code systems may freak out a little in conversations or when you go to do some VO and you have no lips... or face... or head...

It comes to no surprise for me though, since I was expecting this.

In any case:

Brenon Holmes wrote...

SpEcIaLRyAn wrote...

I hope it won't mess up. I need my Sheploo textures for my Dominic Shep for him to look appropriately BA!!!

You guys are pretty resourceful, I'm sure if there are issues someone will have things figured out rather quickly... especially since our save formats aren't changing drastically or anything. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/happy.png[/smilie]
