@flr3 oh wait, have you tell David about this is the very design you would like to get from Biostore? Lets get Akari hire for designing T-shirts ;)

For the ongoing discussion,
Sadly, for all the years I have been and seen on the internet, forcing two group with different thought to coexist just NEVER WORK. It is not a simple calculation 1+1=2, most of the people on the internet treat others differently than in their real life, in most case, much worse, insulting, inconsiderate and so on.

The idea of SAK is too ideal, if this is a chatroom which SAK has some sort of control to boot/block user, it will be a different story.

@Ottemis, I share the exact feeling when I first posted on here, but letting people know about you rather than just a person walks by, it is just like a friendship/relationship which needs time to brew it.

I am glad that there are dozen of people here reach out and become friends for real, when the 'relationship' break through the 'barrier', it will be something that really need to be cherished. Does other users become real friend in other thread? May be, but in here, I know there are more than 15 people have become friend.

For the newcomer,
You are always welcome to join the group even the chatroom on femshep, but you have to treat us equally. The more you are willing to 'invest', the more you will receive back from others. ;)

Edit: Grammar....

@Akari -- Gorgeous screenshot! Is that the light pink lipstick or a modded skin? Certainly made me look twice and consider using a lip color for my next Shepard!

What is there to love about FemShep? - In focus: Valkyrie Shepard.
Posted Image

The hardships experienced during her young years on Earth were good lessons. She grew to be granite-tough and devious, never to be oppressed. None the less, she is proud to be Earthborn, and feels romantic patriotism.
Posted Image

During her military service with the Alliance, she demonstrated her idea of efficient problem solving on many occasions. Her ruthless, defiant nature has earned official support.
Posted Image

Now, she is a vanguard of destruction.
Posted Image

Combining her wild biotics with close combat skills, she's imaginative and creative. Well, if we consider smearing burnt brain tissue along walls a sort of abstract art.
Posted Image

But what's she really like inside? What's going on in her heart and mind? A complicated question.
Quite often, she's annoyed, especially when held back by stupidity
Posted Image

On several occasions, furious
Posted Image

Swaggering
Posted Image

Stubborn, in such a way that it makes her look dumb
Posted Image

Still, she definitely has many redeeming qualities. She can be very nice if she wants to be
Posted Image

Rarely, even cute
Posted Image

In the right mood, she can turn into a devourer kitten
Posted Image

The End, for now

Haha. I'm glad you think they're good enough for me to get hired, but I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon. :)

Thanks Gilsa. Yeah it's just the standard pink colour that's available in the CC.

Ok, slightly off-topicness to start. I've played a vanguard before, early in my ME2 career, but never liked it. Now, with Kat, it's all starting to click. Granted, I play on Hardcore, not Insanity, because, well, I'm not insane (*snicker*) but this is, so far, the easiest and funnest playthru yet.

And now, a little more on topic, since it relates to femShep and the players who play her. It's been mentioned in the last page or two that there's a certain "cliqueishness" to this thread. To a slight degree I've seen it. I'm a fairly infrequent poster, and I don't get a whole lot of replies when I post something. BUT!!!! (and this is a very big but - hey, Miranda! get outta my post!) I see where it's coming from, and it's not exclusive to this thread. People reply to those whom they're used to replying to. People get to know each other, and those posts are more quickly responded to, and other posts from newcomers or infrequent visitors (like myself) are often lost in the shuffle. It's not intentional, it's normal for this kind of communication medium. Therefore, I am not offended in the slightest, and if someone is offended by it, they need to take a few moments and reconsider the situation. Just my opinion, btw.

That being said, even as infrequently as I post in here, when I get replies, they're supportive, upbeat, and positive, so I enjoy my time here. I also love reading about everyone else's Shepard, and seeing the amazing fan art inspired by our femSheps. And so, as a self-described sideline lurker in the femshep fan thread, I salute all of you who post here, regulars, lurkers and newcomers alike.

And the last 15 pages are fairly great, in my opinon. Naturally trolling will occastionally occur-- especially with some of our younger members (for many of whome this is their first forum). But their whinning is almost completely drowned out by the cooperation and energy going into that thread.

I encourage everyone who feels uncomfortable after their initial experience to go back and give it another try. Lets make it the stuff of legend instead of nightmares.

I finally finished the Me playthrough of Nadia Shepard, and now I have started Me2. I expected a bad conversion, but I'm fairly happy with the result. I have also udated the hd face texture for femsheps to 2.0, it took a while, but finally I could sort the nose texture, that weren't showing correctly.

Here are the pictures:

That said, as someone who has always been on the fringes of this thread and never really gotten a lot of replies here, I am not in favor of transplanting this thread to the ME3 boards as-is.  Yes, communities on the Internet often have to be tight-knit in order to remain friendly, but this thread has a reputation for being very clique-ish.  Infrequent posters are often ignored.  It seems more like chatting among friends and stroking each other's egos over certain favorite Shepards rather than welcoming new faces.

There's nothing wrong with what you guys have here, but you do already have it... well, here, and (I think) on Femshep.com.  Yes, ME3 spoilers don't belong on an ME2 board, but it seems to be this community vibe you guys want to transplant over there.

Agree with this.

I hope they create a separate FemShep thread in the ME3 forums, but I also hope it is a little more 'open' than this one. Maybe they can create 2 threads - one being a fun free for all, and another for hardcore group who already know each other.

Not to be a downer, but I think I'll pass.  Never get a second chance to make a first impression and all that.  This thread's great, it's comfortable here, I'll stick to this one until it's transplanted to the ME3 forum.

It's a lot easier to get a reputation as a den for jackals ready to rip people to shreds for their preferences than lose it. I see no change in that thread it is and always will be a giant pressure cooker waiting to explode at a moment's notice.

The only reason it hasn't blown up lately is that a bunch of FemShep fans (most from this very thread) have gone out of their way to appease the other group. If the conversation became unbalanced in favour of FemShep it would explode just like it did in the past.

And what's wrong with 2 separates threads ? It has worked pretty good so far.

And it has kept the two crowds separate, which is exactly what should be done for ME3...

Maybe the ME3 Shepard thread has changed a bit since I last visited (haven't been in a while - avoiding spoilers and the war i saw when there) but I think the real problem with Shepard threads is this:

Is Shepard 1 specific person or is Shepard whatever you want him/her to be?

There are some people who adamantly dislike Shepards that are different than their own. Generally, they prefer Sheploo, have a very distint opinion on paragon/renegade, dislike anything that makes Shepard 'weak' (i.e., humanizes him), and their Shepard is always straight, thank you very much. To suggest anything otherwise seriously ruins their gameplay/immersion experience.

Then there are some folks who take Shepard to be whatever you want him/her to be within the constraints BioWare has written (and may even question some of those constraints). They play custom sheps that are male or female, take varying morality paths, tend to request more RP elements so they can make Shepard more their own, and will question why certain NPCs are off-limits for romance.

Obviously there are many shades in-between, but those are the 2 camps I see most clearly.

And obviously, there's going to be contention between those 2 camps. There has to be.

If Shepard just IS Sheploo, it's going to annoy the heck out of people to see their hero turned into something that they feel he's not. It would be as offensive as someone coming along and saying your favorite custom shep wasn't really an adept, or romanced liara, or what have you.

And for those folks who make custom sheps, to be told your shep isn't 'real' - or to have them ripped apart because they fail to fit someone else's idea of Shepard also going to be annoying and offensive.

Clearly, I belong to the latter camp, as I imagine just about every regular on this thread is. This thread is, to me, a place where custom-sheppers can enjoy showing off their femshep creations.

And I don't have a problem with the first camp, exactly. That's their Sheploo and that's fine.

But I do think that if you try and mash those two camps together - which is what is going to happen if you try and make a single Shepard Fan Thread - then you're going to get some tension.

Shepard was billed as both Sheploo the Poster Boy AND Shepard the Whatever-You-Want-Other-Thing. Even with the upcoming femshep stuff, it's still that way. So I really think there ought to be a separate femshep and manshep threads, OR somehow make a 'this place is for the custom sheps' thread.

As for me, in an effort to avoid spoilers and nasty fights on the BSN, I'm not leaving this thread until it closes.

Here's the thing though -- I have no idea what "giant pressure cooker waiting to explode" means! You seem to think that at some point, a boy is going to bash one of the girls in the thread, and everyone is going to take up sides and bull rush each other.

This. Is. Absurd.

Worst case scenario? A younger trolling member starts a fight with a female gamer and her CC that lasts for maybe two pages. Half a dozen people report him, and tell her not to listen to him. The situation ends. Plain and simple. Mods will intervene LONG before a hypothetical explosion (whatever that means) occurs.

The only reason it hasn't blown up lately is that a bunch of FemShep fans (most from this very thread) have gone out of their way to appease the other group. If the conversation became unbalanced in favour of FemShep it would explode just like it did in the past.

And this quote -- which is only partially true -- makes me think that you want the other thread to explode more than actually believe it will. I've seen new Bioware fans post both male and female characters in that forum -- people that I'd never seen before, and enough of them to freshen up the thread.

If all of the femShep members stick to their ME3 forum thread, then it will probably be like this one. Very intimidating to newcomers (like myself) because it comes off as a sisterhood, or clique. And you know what will happen to the Commander Shepard thread? It'll just turn into the default Male Shepard thread. And instead of it turning into a warzone -- well...just look at our current mShep thread. It's just...dead. Is that how we -- as collective fans of multitude of characters, all sharing the name of "Shepard" -- want to always do things?

Look. I know you'll probably just blow this whole thing off -- but I've been to almost every major gaming forum on the internet. I started, in 2005, on Gamespot.com. Then went to the IGN boards. Then spent about four years as a fairly recognized member of Gametrailers.com (which I left about a year ago). I've been on the Sony boards -- I've been on the Bungie boards -- I've been on the Ubisoft boards. I constantly lurk on /v/, /b/, /soc/, and /tv/. I can tell you right now that this forum of Bioware is an excellent example of a forum that isn't perfect -- god no -- but is a hell of a lot more active, creative, and accepting than most boards out there -- certainly the best board I've been to. I attribute it to Bioware's character creator options + diverse character cast, and how that is almost garanteed to attract someone from every back ground.

If you fear a mass gender dispute breaking out, then calm your fear. There will always be the occassional assh0le. But pretending that you're immune to them because you stay in a gender (character) specific thread -- especially one revolving around a CC character that everyone plays as -- just promotes the ignorant comments we can see all over the internet. I'm not saying "we have to migrate to that new thread!". I am saying don't villianize that thread  unfairly.

This isn't /b/. This isn't anywhere near /b/.
