I miss the ME1 scars.  They definitely gave Shepard a chance to have some character.  The ME2 scar system was alright, but I just didn't feel attached to those scars like those from ME1.  You know?  Even before they disappeared they didn't have the same kind of story that the ME1 scars had.

I hear ME3's scar system is supposed to be the same as ME2's, and that your ME2 scars will even carry over. Shame they picked this game transition to do that with instead of the last one. Guess I'll be updating the Scar Continuity Project...

QFT.  I said the scars were from a near miss due to a grenade on Elysium for my Spacer/War Hero, and she rejected any sort of cosmetic surgery because they showed how she survived her own stupidity.  Did any one else come up with a story behind them?

Oddly enough... I can do both these.  All I need is a blow dryer and a flatiron and mousse.  Lots of it.

I really liked the lip scar, and said that she got it when leaving the Reds.  She got into a fight with her then-lover and de facto leader of the Reds at the time, who didn't take kindly to being abandoned.  I gave a couple other not in-game visible scars stories in the fic I linked.  The ide of cosmetic surgery to have them "corrected" never crossed her mind, she liked the scars and the stories they told.  Hence why she was somewhat upset when they were gone come ME2.

Neat!  She really does.  I actually had no inspirations when I made her.  I like how she ended up sort of ambiguous (not really the right word) she reminds me of someone familiar but no one I can put my finger on.

Jakarta got hers on Elysium too - she was grappling with a krogan and someone set off a tech mine right next to them, catching them both with a fair bit of shrapnel. They didn't really have the time or medical facilities to heal it properly in the middle of the Blitz, so she just slapped some medigel on it and kept going. She's not proud of them, exactly, but she's not particularly bothered by them either; to her cosmetic surgery to remove them would be as extraneous and purposeless as breast augmentation. She's a soldier, scars happen, its nothing to get worked up about either way. That said, she'd be pretty vexed to wake up without them, because it would be like waking up with a different nose. They really do a lot to define the way she looks and she wouldn't recognize herself in the mirror without them.

Which is why I TexMod them into her ME2 game; I can actually see Miranda and Wilson fixing small scars (or rather, choosing not to restore them, since I don't imagine Shep actually had much skin left at all), but if the idea was to bring back Shepard for her celebrity and public icon status as much as her particular talents, then scars as dramatic as Jakarta's would pretty much have to be kept.

I'm sure no one cares (except Shenzi), but I got some comparrison shots of Hrist & Kate to see how similar they are. While they do look quite similar in some regards, it's very easy to tell who's who.

Anyway a few screenshots. I modded Hrist's hair & eye colour to that of Kate and used the same conversation shots from on the Normandy.










@Ais: Awesome video. Hillarious and completely crazy, but still awesome.

@Akari - You can tell them apart but they definitely are very similar looking and I had to stop and take a look at the pics to identify the differences, mainly Hrist has a larger face, what's her base face shape?  Kate's a 7.

And speaking of faceshapes, did another collection of my new crew from the CC challenge using identical shots.  (and tweaked 5 and 9 a bit more)

Hale has really been selling the "I am femShep, hear me roar" aspect of the character. And good for her, I say.
