Right well, rage, do your thing. I'll come back when it's died off and people can be happy again.

Just explaining my views in a thread where it's highly relevant.

I'm with 100k. Just more proof that femShep is "fun fanservice" to BioWare and not an important and powerful choice that could actually sell a lot more games for them if they would pull their heads out of conventional Western marketing wisdom and loudly, proudly tell people about her.

I'm absolutely loving Varick and Serenity. I think they're impressive, good job!

Is the green visor a mod?

Thanks! Next to Jakarta they're my two oldest and most-played, so I've had years to tweak them to perfection. Varick is indeed rocking a modded headpiece. It's one of the NPC equipment meshes (I can't think of anyone in ME2 who's got it offhand, but you can see one of the marines guarding the CIC in ME1 wearing one), which I set up to ape the Umbra Visor (which I actually do like the look of sometimes - Ayumi wears it - but it really doesn't suit Varick).

We just dont get the cynicism thats all,

This was never going to a over night job. We knew there would be delays with the onset of the contest otherwise im sure it would have been earlier if they just revamped the default model. They never so now they have to work with a new face. I find it perfectly understandable as to why there a delay

They just spent months marketing her.  Thats not fan service anyway you look at it because they completely remodelled what their set in stone marketing was and spent money and investment time on her.

The media has done their part in latching on as well.  The trailer is just another benefit we will see.   Plus if its released in November it still 4 months before release!!

A long time before end game marketing

I know. I'm just peeved because it's taken them 5 years for what feels like five minutes of coverage on her.

It's the reason I'm pissed at Valve as well. Where the hell is HL3? It's been 5 years without a single mention of that game. Further more, they were supposed to release Black Mesa in 2009 -- which they delayed until 2010 -- ...which has now disappeared.

I'm a loyal consumer who won't pirate, sell, or vandalize their property. Is it too much to ask for them to throw me a bone occasionally?

My posts keep getting shorter since once again Crash and Ottemis say exactly what i think and probably damn better then i would do myself. As Crash said this isn't a over night job, they could've done that if they wanted but they didn't

She went from having almost nothing, to eventually getting something.  A Trailer, box art, media attention, recognistion, screenshots, official artwork, months of developer communication...

Its still not enough though?...   Im sorry but your expectations are set far to high!!

I understand your fustration dont get me wrong.  I just think you need to appreciate whats happened and not be hung up on something like this.  She will still get more attention going forwards that there is no doubt. But its still a long time untill release

She hasn't had her trailer, screenshots, nor her box art. These are things currently promised to us, but keep getting pushed back because they haven't started on her yet. I know, I know, 6 months is a long time. But not in the world of marketing (which is the angle I'm attacking this issue from).

She has had her official art work. I don't think any of us know if she's had months of developer communication -- or what extent that goes to.

I don't think I can have expectations high enough when it comes to femShep. Oh, I know that under no condition will she satisfy all of my needs, but I don't think that anyone (with all due respect) has the right to tell me that I need to lower my expectations.

I understand your fustration dont get me wrong.  I just think you need to appreciate whats happened and not be hung up on something like this.  She will still get more attention going forwards that there is no doubt. But its still a long time untill release

But (imo) nothing's happened. We've gotten maybe a dozen tweets about femShep from the devs. We've gotten a cool but ultimately controversial "beauty contest".

You're quite right I think, when you said "this could've been an overnight job". I agree. But it could've also been a 30 day job.

You can't honestly expect me to think it would take half a year to scan/model a default Shepard's face into a computer, can you?

And she will get more attention as we move closer to ME3. But consider this:

The devs are being as tight lipped as possible for trailers, game play segments, demos, etc. They want to show less and less (probably partially because they showed half of ME2 before it came out). If there are 6 months until Mass Effect 3, is it unreasonable to assume that we'll get, maybe....5 or 6 new trailers, and maybe a dozen promotional advertisements/posters in magazines?

The closer we move to ME3, the more mShep will be marketted for attention towards the game (understandably). The window for redShep to shine is getting smaller and smaller.

Sorry but it still sounds ungrateful and I still think your bar is set too high.

I was on the old boards asking this stuff in 2008. I been here a long while and I learnt to be patient and not get caught up with a minor setback like this.   Do it right is what I say.  Yes they have been promised and I trust Bioware to deliver without a doubt.  There still a lot of time and no it doesnt need to be delived to us straight away.  In a few months Bioware will be prepared to show off newer stuff, so im sure the trailer will be even better then!

So yes I will just do this I think:

Nothing we can do about it anyway, so what about we move on.

Having femshep in the next gig as a surprise would be cool though. "Hey, we're going to play a bit of this same level we've been showing with Mordin and the Krogan princess again, but this time we have something new to show you..." weeeeee  it'll happen, eventually!

Hope for the best.  Expect the worst.  You'll never be disappointed again.

Where is your patient after all this years you have claimed for waiting? Would it make any different between 5 years 2 months or 5 years 4 months? Like what Ottemis said, give the DEV enough time to make a trailer that is "forever-blow-your-mind-away-awesome".

Yes, you can express your rage on everything but just keep it to yourself. Or, open a new thread in ME3 section to express your concern about the delaying, lets keep this thread away from complains and rages.

I personally feel both 2 rounds of voting is for the fans and also for strategy of marketing, the larger and longer 'noise' you can make, the more attention you will get from potential customers. Lets not forget this is also doing a favor to femshep as well, which is what we fundamentally wanted, let the rest of gamers know her existence.

Btw, I have gotten two femshep done on the face challenge :)

With all due respect, I have already addressed where my patience went over a period of 5 years. Showing a femShep trailer shouldn't be that huge of an issue. It shouldn't take 5 years. It just shouldn't.

And I'm not "raging" like you guys said. I'm just agitated.

They turned a great fanservice (a femShep default reconstruction), into a proposed marketing idea (which is great), into a prolonged delay.

Like I said, I want femShep to be an equal figure to mShep in ME3's marketing. Not as an "Oh, we'll get to that later..." side work.

I think that she's worth more than that.

Good things come to those who wait. I want Shepard to looks good and not shove her out the door with a half ass trailer. 'Cause god help us if she doesn't look 'perfect,' so many people with **** like children because she didn't look or move or whatever and meet this insanity high expectations we dream up.

I don't think we're ever going to get that.  To be fair to BW, this thing sprung about organically. It came from us, both the years of asking combined w/ the Twitter campaign made this happen. It started off as a fan made trailer contest, but quickly became an official BW trailer. Had this been planned from the get go, I'd be a little more peeved by the delay.  Quite frankly, I am astonished that they have done what they have w/ the trailer, the CE cover, the PAX coverage w/ Jennifer Hale, the poster, wallpaper and even t-shirts.  Yes, they should have promoted her from the start.  They should have had a high-res version of femShep from the beginning.  But live and learn.  In part due to femShep, LadyHawke got a little more coverage for DA2, especially in live demos.  The DA team even said they may look into marketing the fact that the main character can be customizable in the next Dragon Age game.  So, will BW take to heart what it seems to have learned from the femShep phenomenon?  Will the next game promote both Mr. and Miss. Savior of the Galaxy equally?  Only time will tell.  Furthermore, while there were many, many different camps in the femShep Facebook debate, something some would call ridiculous, you can’t deny the passion from her supporters.  So while femShep will never be equal to maleShep in the marketing, she has done something he’ll never accomplish.  If only for a moment, she changed the way BW saw female characters and players.

You're probably right. Maybe its just the idea that ME3 is still a long way away is just getting to me. I can't wait for this game -- but, alas, I must.
