re: shep and cerberus.

i've made peace with the fact shep works with them. i feel like that's just something the writers decided had to happen and if i'm going to play at the me2 party, i have to walk in that door. it's sort of like the ending of either da:o or da2 - you get crap you don't like (or i don't, anyhow), but in me2 you get it up front.

i can understand that for the sake of the trilogy they need it to happen. i can understand they force things like working with them or horizon or whatever. i just find it crazy that there's so little opportunity to really put up a fight with TIM. i'm so used to head-canoning that he's manipulating shep that when i truly play through the intro again, i'm always appalled by how quickly shep capitulates on ANY dialog option.

i guess they didn't want tIM to be full-on evil from the start, but wanted people to think of him as merely shifty or neutral. and i guess if you never played me1, you wouldn't know better. my hubby was kind of 'what, Cerberus isn't all that bad' and i then geekily spouted off all the nasty things they did in me1.

so maybe the problem was they made them too evil in me1 for what they intended in me2? or maybe they're just going to go back to being full-on evil in me3? i think i could even respect their evil scientist ways if they weren't so totally incompetent about it.

Hi, Garrus!  My funny bumps... you should touch them.

Heh, that's not quite what's going on.  They're discussing non-lethal ways to take down each other's species.  She's pointing out the diaphragm/solar plexus (or whatever it's called.)

On my latest playthrough I really tried to listen to Jennifer Hale's voice and how it changed depending on who she was speaking with. Every time she spoke w/ TIM I noticed a hint of frustration in her voice or what could be perceived as a standoffish tone. Contrast that to how she spoke w/ Joker or even Kelly, she has, for femShep, a much livelier tone. And Jennifer Hale has said that she has an image of what Shepard’s relationship is w/ each other character. In an interview prior to ME2’s release Hale said that Shepard had to do something that she didn’t like at all. So while Shepard is much more capitulating that she should be in with her words, her tone reflects a different stance.

^ that's interesting, jamie. it also speaks to the fact that hale really puts a lot of hidden depth into her vocal performance. its' like she treats femshep as a person and not a placeholder. all the more reason why femshep just *works*, yah know?

So scampermax told me the other day she was downloading the EVE Online trial to check out the character creator (look at her avatar). Have you tried to recreate your Sheps in other games?

Here's my Shep in DA2:

That's an interesting question, Nyoka.
Yes, I do! I always tend to recreate Noah for other games.

Nope. My Sheps are recreations of Revan from KOTOR (Avery) and Exile from KOTOR 2 (Meghan), but I haven't pushed them forward, though.

They also don't really look like the character heads I had to use in those games. I just recycled their personalities.

I make it a point not to, but I can't help but see similarities in how I arrange the features on some of my characters. I think everyone has their own aesthetic standard that they apply to their creations with or without them knowing.

Arrrgh, EVE Online CC. So tempting... xD

@f1r3storm -- I love that earthborn has a cat next to her. Cats rock.

@Nyoka -- I wouldn't say that I've recreated my Shep in other games, but I have definitely started to lean towards creating tough characters with blonde hair and thick eyebrows as a nod to my Shep. Loved your screenshots. The EVE Online character has amazing details on the face, wow. (Not familiar with the game myself.)

I don't think that my female Cousland, Taru, (I haven't really played with any other class/origin yet) looks much like Tiia. I didn't try to make 'em look alike either. So no, Shepard is Shepard and I don't have lookalikes in other games.

Sarah was made with a character in Starcraft as a model at first but grew to be herself with only slight connection to the said character. I've never tried and won't try to recreate her in any other game. Ofcoruse since i love her so much she will always be part of every character i create one way or another

Re: Sole Survivors working with Cerberus in ME2

I've come to terms with it this way: TIM is the head of the snake.  I'm also guessing that he tries to remain ridiculously hard to find, since he'll only communite with Shepard via hologram.  For my sole survivor, she's cooperating now so she can use their own resources to get revenge later.

Look at Jack, for example.  She knows that helping Shepard and Cerberus is going to get her the information she needs to get personal vengeance.  My Kate Shepard is basically intending to do the same thing.  Work with Cerberus for now until she can track down TIM and freakin' wreck him.

On Kate's file, I did Lair of the Shadow Broker before the SM.  As soon as a trusted friend becomes the Shadow Broker, Kate figures she's found another way to track down TIM and noticeably stops cooperating as much (as evidenced by her blowing up the Collector Base).  So there are ways to RP it if you think hard enough.  Hopefully this Sole Survivor oversight will be addressed in ME3.

Actually, Ivy is a sole survivor and since the scientists Toombs were killing and trying to kill (she made sure he stayed alive) were Alliance scientists she's very interested in hearing who was really behind the whole "project" of Akuze. She wants to know if anyone in the Alliance Brass knew about it and she figured TIM is the only one who can give her the answer she seeks.

Am I the only person who has never had this problem?  Seriously.  I have taken five Shepard through ME1 and one romanced Liara, one got the confrontation (as I had intended) and the other three turned Liara down using three different distinct dialogue routes. I’m on a PC.  Nice femShep, btw.  :)

Sole Survivor & Cerberus. UJ is a sole survivor and I really hope this comes up in ME3.  Something like, “Thought I forgot about Akuze, didn’t you!” as she’s putting a bullet between his eyes.

awesome!

what a cool question. i was just thinking of this, since i both do and do not do this.

my characters often have a very similar facial structure. i guess it's because i tend to base their underlying bone structure off of my own. i have really high cheekbones and a twice-broken nose. so somehow that sort of translates into my characters. i tend to be jealous of them if they have cute or straight noses, since mine is quite imperfect.

i think i need lessons from ELE on how to create super-unique characters.

anyhow, i had an original Kyrie Cousland the Warden (only pic remaining of her):

Posted Image

who melded with previous builds to become Kyrie Shepard (over a few trials and errors of CC)

Posted Image

and in replaying DA:O i tried to be quite different for my new cousland, but the bone structure is similar. i was playing with the romancable ser gilmore mod though, so i tried to make her look good with the ginger warrior.

Posted Image

in da2, i sort of channelled kyrie's looks into my first Hawke, but much more vampy/deliberately beautiful. she lacked the tomboy edge. and then her personality took off in a totally different direction

Posted Image

so i tried to make hawke #2 just look like the family. but she's not particularly unique.

Posted Image

so i made hawke #3 something totally different (mostly). and she's one of my fave character creations yet. she animates fantastically, esp. when she sneers (Which was often).

Posted Image

^ I am now seriously toying with the idea of making elizabeth here into a renegon femshep. she's a strong enough personality to make the transition, i think, if i ever get bored with the da stuff (which is no time soon, i think)

and then currently, i'm running an Amell in da:o and i got awakening, too. i'm planning to make her my 'canon' and import her into a 'canon' hawke run. that hawke will likely be a sort of kyrie variation, but i haven't built that kyrie variation yet. i sort of wanted this one to look like the cousin to kyrie, but the hawke-kyrie will also be a cousin to kyrie-shep.

Posted Image

um, yeah. pic bomb. :innocent:

Most insane mod for femshep possibly, IMO. Its Wonder Woman, its a lil silly, and on my outdated laptop doesnt look so hot (not sure its meant to be so bloomed), but im still very, very impressed
