Well really what did anyone expect.   We just made a massive leap for a trailer out of nothing afterall!

I second what Crash said; it's kinda expected. It pisses me off, not because it's a MaleShep in the movie, it's not about the gender for me; it's about the fact that the game has no canon.

We have options, what's the point of giving us all this freedom if you'll end up taking it away from us by making a movie about the main protagonist who -in all games- has no canon gender/background/story? Shepard is not just a male or a female; Shepard is a different person for each one of us, to some he's a male and to others she's a female. S/he is a paragon, a renegade and everything in between, s/he is a xenophobe and an alien lover, s/he loves Liara and Kaidan and Ash and Garrus...we have so many options, why ruin this for us by making a movie that tells us basically everything we made is not true because Shepard is whom the filmmakers chose to be?

And yes, a movie with Shepard will ruin the experience this much for me. I took the decision now that I won't watch the movie, not cause it will suck (although I honestly have a feeling it will) but because I refuse to let anything ruin the story I have been creating for the past 5 years be ruined because Legendary/EA/Bioware want to make more money off of the masterpiece BW created.

I just tweeted about this on Kallen's account. She'd be pissed they didn't actually use her or ask her how stuff went. She'd be pissed while her LI tried to explain why they didn't contact her, and she'd scare the hellout of her actress andshoot up opening night out of vengeance.

To be quite honest, I don't really care what the rest of the world thinks. As far as I'm concerned, William Shatner is still Captain Kirk, Darth Vader doesn't say a damned thing when he kills the Emperor and Commander Shepard is a woman.

She would stop in her tracks and wonder what the hell people are thinking and then call the actress and the ones making the movie idiots and question their heritage. She would try to make sure the movie never got out and ignore all the publicity

About Shepard, but when will it take place? As we all know that there are 3 different background and sounds like they will not touch this part of history to prevent confusion with the game. So it will be the time Shepard in the Aillance earlier days?

Looks like they are making the movie about Shepard right before Shepard become XO of Normday so that it will connect to the triology series. So, the decision is made base on marketing strategy? I am quite disappointed....

To the recreate question:
I may try not always stick with creating unique character for each of the game, it is like I am reading different novels.

Anyway, here's the character I made in EVE CC. Be warn though, it is very addictive and powerful

As Colly, she will be pissed at first but later pay a visit to Liara (her LI) to think about the way to make this movie 'disappear' like it never happened, no one should mess with Shepard and Shadow Broker, your day is DDOOOOMMM!

As Velina, she will likely sue the movie for exploits her relationship but not about her story. Since she cares about other more than herself, she would rather to see the movie of her could somehow inspire other to be a good person. About the LI part, she will definitely avoid it since she is still stirred by the 'event of Horizone'. Velina is likely to attent for the opening night, which is a good oppuntunity to 'promote' Alliance and her ideal if the movie could deliver them but not twisted them.

UJ would want to ignore it completely, but Liara would talk her into seeing it and meeting all the people involved.  She would be very polite and keep her opinions to herself as she typically does and grin and bear all the publicity. UJ would then sit through the movie and nitpick all the inconsistencies right down to the buttons on her suit, driving the movie execs and audience crazy.

Again: Why would they talk about the most important info regarding the movie on a blog, but not at the panel where the fans are at and definitely were waiting for this kind of detail (especially THIS "little" detail). Jeez, it's actually the most important piece of information for many people and they don't use that panel which gets a lot of attention to reveal it?

This doesn't really make sense to me, unless they badly suck at marketing. So unless BioWare confirms it i still take all this with a grain of salt.

There already is an in-game movie about Shepard and the events of Mass Effect 1.  You can hear the advertisement for it at one of the holo-stand things.  The actress playing Shepard says "This began with an attack on a human settlement in the Traverse..."

At some point, my Shepards would have invited a friend or two to her cabin to watch it and take shots every time the movie got something wrong.

I errr...have that mod.  It's on the game vixen website for free.  I used it as a template for *cough*lingerie*cough* so I wouldn't be blindly experimenting trying to find where seams lined up.

As for Jenn, well she'd be polite, and if she was invited to the opening night, she'd probably decline, then she'd watch it in her cabin, alone or with Kaidan and laugh her ass off about all the exaggerated stuff.

Using the same features across characters is a good discussion. My dwarves are definitely in this category. When I made a new character, my only rule was that I used a different face structure for each of them. I usually gravitated towards the same features in all of them -- button noses, wide jaws, and the thickest eyebrow available.



I went out of my way to use different features for each of my Shepard whenever possible.

I don't really have any DA2 shots to share. The CC felt limiting and they all sort of looked like each other no matter how hard I tried. I was/am a huge dwarven fan and didn't have any problem playing as a human in DA2 (didn't really expect Varric to be a LI either), but there weren't even any dwarven female models in DA2 at all. Dwarven culture was barely mentioned in the game. That really killed my enthusiasm for DA2 so I didn't really bother trying to take good screenshots. Had fun with the romances though. Waiting on DA3 now!

Y'all were just talking about Shep as Wonder Woman, right? Jakarta is already very Dianalike (or at least my particular Platonic Diana; you only need to spend five minutes in Wondyfandom to learn that there are a lot of different perspectives on what "Dianalike" means), and I imagine her response would be a lot like Diana's in that recent Simone arc. Some Alliance media liason would contact her and say "hey they're trying to make a movie of you, do you want to squash it," and Jakarta would visit the set, be amused by some things, horrified and foot-putting-down about at least one (probably a star-crossed Alenko romance, that seems like the kind of thing Hollywood would do and would ****** her off immensely as an insult to his memory), but on the whole be like "whatevs, it's just a movie, I've got bigger problems than whether it's any good or even happens."

Since, as leggywillow observes, obviously the movie does happen, her response would be to basically ignore it until Kasumi pretty much forced her to sit down and watch it. She'd drag Garrus and Joker along and it'd turn into a big cringing drinking game mockfest with them making fun of the movie and each other.

Varick would just politely offer to shoot anybody who talked about it in her presence, and that would be that.

Definitely not. Every PC for me is a different person. My mains tend to have certain personality traits in common -- a devotion to duty, a talent for leadership, a happy childhood (when possible, RPGs don't tend to like that option, which is perhaps part of why I'm so fond of it), a strong, friendly innate charisma -- but ultimately that core is always shaped by the setting and manifests in really different ways, and they all have different sets of flaws. Jakarta and my Cousland are among the most similar, but Jakarta would have done the Dark Ritual, for instance, and Melody would have had Chan's issue and not been able to play ME2 due to the Cerberus thing.

(Though I fic Jakarta as under surreptitious orders from Anderson to infiltrate Cerberus once she visits the Citadel anyway, since it's the only real way I can make sense of her passivity in that too. ME2 was just... not the game I wanted, I admit.)

As for meeting the actress, heh....

Lili: Oh? A savior doesn't have to be sexy in a firefight. I wear my hari pulled up so enemies can't get a hold of it, armor is a MUST and I don't wear make up because it's a waste. I can be very feminine when I want to be.
Actress: I understand, but who would want to watch somebody like that in a movie?

As you can see, Lili isn't amused at the thought of a movie of her life. She actually HATES the idea.That and they always screw movies based of things up. Any movie based off a life or a book or a game is always screwed up, so she knows that vid would be. And she would totally have Liara shut the movie down, having the Shadow Broker as on of your BFFs has it's perks.

Edit: Re - recreating Shep in other games
Actually, yes. My Nyraa Tabris looks like my Athena Shepard (but more elf) and my Kathrine Hawke looks like my Titra Shepard (though romances are VERY different, I can't imagine Fenris and Thane being anything alike, lol) and my Alice in Fallout 3 looks like my like a cross between Lili and Athena. Oh and then my Oblivion character is a Dark Elf version of Lili. In short, yes I do. Though, my characters in future games might not be, who knows. In Skyrim I'll make a Cat version of Lili maybe, haha. Well, she does like cats. (sorry for lack of pictures, I blame me being an xbox player)
