What undermines your argument is that people don't HAVE to do anything. This is a choice. Whether not giving out facecodes is a choice you don't support matters f-all. It's still their choice.

I've addressed this by acknowledging that they don't have to, my argument is that they should.

It is impossible to undermine an argument I'm not making.

If you'd like to, however, continue this pointless discussion, go right ahead. You must be really bored.
But go right on ahead headbutting everyone that doesn't share your opinion, it's bound to give you a headache at some point.

I beg to differ that this discussion is pointless.  If Sable Phoenix shared her face codes with WalkingBartie I would have nothing to say.  That's pretty much the definition of a point.  I have a clear and stated objective for raising the objections I have.

And we're all on the BSN, aren't we?  Comparing relative levels of boredom does, by contrast, seem pointless.

I guess I don't really see why people guard their facecodes so closely.  I do understand the feeling of ownership and wanting to have exclusive rights to something you've worked hard on, but the ME character creator is so limited that most FemSheps end up looking like cousins regardless.  I guess I'm just stuck thinking in terms of efficiency, lol.  If someone really wants to recreate a Shepard, they'll be able to pretty easily thanks to the limited CC, so if someone ever asks me for a facecode I just decide to save them the time and give it to them.   I think every single one of my FemSheps has a near-twin on this thread.

Pretty much this. I always find it pretty humorous when someone refuses to give out their Shep's face code. It's not a SSN for crying out loud. It's a face code for a video game character which in many cases a lot of people can't even copy because they use edits that can't be duplicated by someone playing on a console. Some people get way too attached to their characters.

The answer to this question will completely determine the conclusion of this ridiculous topic of discussion.

Sure, if I accept your premise that this is about "property."

It's about a set of letters and numbers that determine the appearance of a video game character.  You know, "fun."

I'm not beating my copy of Kapital and demanding an end to private property, I'm literally advocating sharing and I'm the bad guy.

I'm sure continuing this pointless discussion will wear Sable down and give the facecode away anyways!
No, not really, atleast i'd have 0 inclination to at this point.
You're acting like a 5 year old in a candystore, not advocating sharing.

People that don't share their codes, even though the point towards why you 'should' is perfectly valid, also have perfectly valid reasons NOT TO.

Aaanyways, have fun, I'm out.

Well, now she knows that there are at least a few people other than "that jerk" (I'm talking about me) who are annoyed when people don't share.  People who might not have said anything at all had I not raised a stink.

"Pointless."

Good to know you count spite among valid reasons for not sharing.  I had a feeling.

Well then, if it's really so trivial as simple numbers and letters, you should have no problem recreating them yourself :-)

"I don't have a problem rebuilding them or not getting the code, but people *should* share them..."

You don't have the right to demand how everyone should act -- unless it involve actions that can harm you.

I can answer that, and yes I am for each of my femshep. Every gamer has their feeling and grasp on what they feel is important, but that doesn't give them the right not to let other laughs at them.

Still, if you can find a character in any game that you really attach to it, good for you! If not, that is just too bad and you should move on the next one.

Love the green details off-setting the red in her features too. Very complimentary colors.

thanks you two. I love her too.  I used ELE's Rhona face texture to make Quinn. :)  I thought the green armor was best for her too.

You're the bad guy because your message of "sharing" was accompanied by a few insults and implications that weren't appropriate. Sharing = good. Not sharing = good. Being angry that someone isn't sharing, and using words like pretentious = bad.

Dismissing the premise of the question is an answer.  I am under no obligation to accept it.  So yes, I did answer, by saying your question misses the point.

In other words, I'm not interested in discussing your straw man.  Is sharing codes when asked instead of witholding them the nicer thing to do or not?  If your answer is yes, you agree with me and there's no need for you to respond to me further.   If the answer is no, explain.

The difference is that his objections involved insulting this thread and its members -- while admitting that he was trolling. Trolling is against site rules.

Threads don't have members.  Your difference is arbitrary.

When followed by "from the heart," it's safe to assume the comment was tongue-in-cheek, but you're free to interpret it any way you wish.  Why even mention trolling at all?  Because the last time I was banned for "trolling" here the moderator apologized, agreeing that it was levied in error.  That's right, the comment was meta.

Shorts may phrase things a bit harshly sometimes and even refer to himself as a troll, but to me a troll is someone who comes flying in with a cruel comment and then sits back to giggle at the aftermath.  Shorts always sticks around to genuinely argue his points, even if they aren't popular ones that everyone agrees with.  To me, that's not trolling.  ::shrug::  To each their own; I always enjoy the debates Shorts brings up.

He was being facetious.

Shorts is not actually a troll. Which is pretty clear if you look at any of his post history. Posting something that other people disagree with is not trolling, except apparently on the femShep thread. Neither, do I think, is the subject of face code sharing a particularly provocative subject. I think our fragile psyches will survive this altercation.

Hah! I'll give you that one.  Where were we then?

Oh, you were going to explain why it wouldn't be nicer if people gave out their face codes.  Or stop arguing.  We hadn't gotten to that part yet.

Hmno.. he's ignoring the counterarguments, which are just as valid as his argument for sharing is.
As such, it renders all this bull obsolete, and can be classified as trolling.
If there's any question as to what i'm talking about, all you gotta do is read through the responces.
Now I really am done with this nonsense.

It is funny that someone think they could weaken their aggressive intention by admitting what they are.

A troll is still a troll no matter how you define them, it is only matter of a smart troll who can speak with so called reason to support their thought. So please, leggy......if shorts is your friend, you should ask him stop now by making himself like a crown as an entertainment in this thread.

And this agruement should stop now because this is totally not related to thread's topic. If you feel the "debate" is not over, start a thread with the title "Sharing or not sharing, that is the question" B)

Dismissing a strawman is not the same thing as ignoring a counter-argument.

Calling someone pretentious for not sharing their Shepard means that you're also insulting me (by extension) and every other member who did something similar, even with good intentions meant.

I've now heard half a dozen argument as to why we should share our codes, ranging from "all of the Shepards look the same anyways..." to "it will eventually be replicated, so I might as well give it away". That's great for those people. You should seek out those share-ers if you really want a new Shepard.

But don't complain when you ask someone for something as personal as a code, and they don't give it to you. We call that being "butthurt" on the interwebz, and I don't think anyone wants to be associated with that.

Cut your loses and move on.

I'll let you get the last word in.

It's still the same topic that started when Sable Phoenix posted her Femshep, WalkingBartie asked for the code, and Sable said "thanks but no."
