If I remember correctly you actual words were " I could hear your pretentiousness from across the internet". That implies that the vastness of the web was no match for Sable's attitude -- which implied that she had quite a lot of attitude, which gave the impression that you were telling her that she was being overtly arrogant/pertentious to the point of bellowing her high class and status.
Looks like you're hopping from one conclusion to the next.
Sure you could arrive at that, or you could just read what I said I meant and respond to that.
100k wrote...
In such a case as this, the the act of Sable being pretentious is completely tied with her individuality -- as you cannot have one without the other -- in most people. Therefore, I concluded that you were calling her (and everyone who made similar choices) arrogant, and that their reasoning for doing so was petty.
That's your assertion, not mine. I have explicitly made a different distinction.
I think smart people are capable of doing dumb things. It doesn't make them dumb, it means they're human.
100k wrote...
I then told you that you could just as easily try to copy her, and in so doing make your own masterful creation, even if not completely accurate, you basically said that making your own creation would require "jumping through hoops"
Now you're distorting. You presented a hypothetical based on your code, there were several possibilities listed and whether or not you would be upset. You then said you would only react positively if they had managed to recreate your Shepard on their own with no assistance from you. Hence, jumping through hoops.
100k wrote...
Later, you seemed to belittle the apparent difficulty of these actions by saying that in the end, it was litttle more than numbers and letters.
Again a distortion that anyone can go look up just by going back a few pages and reading. You were clumsily referencing Socialism and I was pointing out that you were building silly strawmen and wanted to remind you what were were talking about.
I'm still waiting for you to answer my question. Also, my last word seems like so long ago.

And what question is that?

I agree. The world would be a better place if we all shared w/ one another. But if you don’t want to, don’t. As far as I'm concerned people can do whatever the hell they want w/ their facecodes, share, don't share, write them on the bathroom wall, tell people they are nuclear missile launch codes (okay, maybe not that) I don't care.
Does it surprise you that I agree with this?
I just don't think there's anything wrong with letting people know that when someone doesn't share their codes when asked nicely, other people might actually resent it.
Of course it's still ultimately Sable Phoenix's decision. But I'm not going to apologize for thinking it's a dick move and saying so.

People, grow some thicker skin. I know this thread is isolated and safe, but let someone rock the boat a little and all hell breaks loose. It doesn’t happen often, something I am grateful for, and I’m not saying everyone needs to get along or that you shouldn’t defend yourself, but just grow a little more skin and think before you post.
That's why I don't give the Femshep thread the benefit of the doubt anymore and just barge in and start kicking over sandcastles. Myself and others have tried to be more subtle before and we get exactly the same reaction I got this time. So why bother? That's where the sarcasm about inclusiveness comes from. The idea that the Femshep thread would consider itself so friendly and tranquil as to rally together against these pesky outsiders who don't understand yet can't even share facecodes with each other is begging to be commented on, even if only with a passive-aggressive aside.

Hmm, maybe you did answer. It's all blending together. Remind me if you did. It was the one about "do you think it'd be nicer to share."

I just don't get the possessiveness over the combination of a set of features on a scroll bar. It's like being proud of a particularly pretty Mrs. Potato Head and not wanting to share how one got her particular accessories. Perhaps it's a crude analogy, but it's mine, so there you have it.
Also, just because the topic has swayed to something else (ie, not pic-spamming and awe-ing and ooh-ing over people's creations) , doesn't mean it's "off-topic."

Thread: "TROLL!"
There are... personality types that rely on their targets striving to keep civil whilst kicking said target's shin under the table. Then get all surprised and shocked, shocked, when they get an irritated response from the target or someone who notices what said personality type is doing.
Pictures are always good, though.

I've been getting that impression from some posters too. The attempts to circumvent the swear filter really give away this "personality type."
But seriously if you're going to throw passive-aggressive insults my way, you might want to go ahead and show that my summary is inaccurate - it's just good sportsmanship.
Oh and just in case it isn't clear: I am shocked by none of this. This response is exactly what I expected.

Ah yes. You asked that question to somebody else.
Sure it's nicer to share than not share. But who am I to go around demanding better behaviour from everyone? Who am I to tell people how to live? Even on these forums? If someone is connected with their Shepard, it is just as immoral of me to demand that they give it to the people who ask.
Are you the saint who can justifiably say that that person's treasure should be spread?

Someone annoyed with all the non-sharing? Authority is a requirement for opinions?
Would you indict Mister Rogers for his presumption? Not to compare myself directly - that'd be absurd - but read what you wrote.

That's a tad melodramatic. I am not standing next to Sable with a gun. More like standing in the street outside with a sign saying "FACE CODES 4 EVERY1"

It amazes me how much passion femshep and her "fanatics" invoke. The greatest insult one can suffer is to be ignored. Clearly, this does not happen w/ femShep or her supporters. So to all the naysayers, be you trolls w/ your kitchen jokes, fans screaming the stats, or (my personal favorite) those who constantly post claims of indifference, I say this. Thanks for your support.

I don't think its melodramatic at all. I really like my face codes. So does Sable. So do many other people. We'd rather keep them to ourselves because of the time and effort we put into them, and the mythology of their character. We display them, because part of the joy of this forum is showing what we worked on.
But you still haven't recognized the big thing I'm getting at. There are many people who are willing to share with you. If one person wants to share with you, gravitate towards that person! Those people! That community! But don't insult those who like their personal creations. We definitely appreciate your appreciation for our Shepards, but if you're not willing to attemp to remake them from scratch, then you clearly don't want them badly enough to warrent a 5 page argument on the matter.
And finally, there are entire threads based around codes and code sharing. Didn't get the code you wanted here? Go to one of those threads and check for another face that you like.

When did Femshep's integrity come under fire in this discussion? We are merely discussing sharing face codes vs not sharing face codes. Why does this have to be an attack on femshep?
Femshep is not defined by her looks. Why people place so much importance on how she appears, I will never know.

I have recognized this "big thing" you're getting at, it just hasn't really addressed what I've been saying because it can apply whether or not I think people should share facecodes or don't. I'm not posting because I am looking for ways to modify my behavior. I've asked for a facecode once - a friend of mine did a really good job with the jawline and I wanted to apply it to my own Femshep - and got a response immediately, it was a nonissue.
And yes, I would still categorize your first paragraph as pretentious. In any event, I do have to sleep, so I suppose that means you get the last word.

I do hope it's not the former, which implies that any criticism of this thread or FemShep's fans is a criticism of FemShep herself. I know I'm a huge FemShep fanatic, which is why I'm still being a masochist and reading this thread daily instead of just walking away in search of some discussion beyond mountains of picspam.

No, I’m not implying that criticism to this community is criticism to femShep herself. Absolutely not. She gets enough criticism on her own. It's a reaction to all the naysayers of both femShep AND the community. Seriously, both she and this community get a lot of attention, some of it good, some of it bad, but it’s still attention. As an artist, I know the worst thing one can suffer is apathy. People don’t rant or make jokes on something that doesn’t have an effect on them in some way. Good or bad, both femshep and her “fanatics” bring out passion in people. Example. I don’t care what color my neighbor paints their walls, because I really don’t give a sh*t what color they paint their walls. So, I'm not going to make a joke about it. I'm not going to criticize it or even comment on it because I don’t care. If I do praise something, make a joke on something or criticize something then that implies I have some form connection to that thing. It affects me somehow, either positively or negatively.

Ah, true enough. I certainly wouldn't try to argue my anti-picspam position in here repeatedly if I didn't care about FemShep having a strong community and consumer voice; I'd just ignore it like I do 99% of the other threads on the BSN. That's also why I think people on this thread should be more accepting of dissenters and silly arguments like the one we've been having all night. It's why I get so annoyed when I see people try to shut down discussion and say "I REFUSE TO TALK ABOUT THIS, HAVE SOME PICS". Any discussion is good discussion; people shouldn't try to drown it out with floods of screenshots.
