Is this in reaction to the current discussion or just Dave's post?  I do hope it's not the former, which implies that any criticism of this thread or FemShep's fans is a criticism of FemShep herself.  I know I'm a huge FemShep fanatic, which is why I'm still being a masochist and reading this thread daily instead of just walking away in search of some discussion beyond mountains of picspam.

No, I’m not implying that criticism to this community is criticism to femShep herself. Absolutely not.  She gets enough criticism on her own. It's a reaction to all the naysayers of both femShep AND the community. Seriously, both she and this community get a lot of attention, some of it good, some of it bad, but it’s still attention. As an artist, I know the worst thing one can suffer is apathy.  People don’t rant or make jokes on something that doesn’t have an effect on them in some way.  Good or bad, both femshep and her “fanatics” bring out passion in people.  Example.  I don’t care what color my neighbor paints their walls, because I really don’t give a sh*t what color they paint their walls.

Ah, true enough.  I certainly wouldn't try to argue my anti-picspam position in here repeatedly if I didn't care about FemShep having a strong community and consumer voice; I'd just ignore it like I do 99% of the other threads on the BSN.  That's also why I think people on this thread should be more accepting of dissenters and silly arguments like the one we've been having all night.  It's why I get so annoyed when I see people try to shut down discussion and say "I REFUSE TO TALK ABOUT THIS, HAVE SOME PICS".  Any discussion is good discussion; people shouldn't try to drown it out with floods of screenshots.

Yes, dissent is good.  And actually Dave has a point.  A lot of femsheps do look alike, but who the f*ck cares?  I say share them and be proud of them anyway ... or not.  The earth will still revolve around the sun.

And speaking of pic-spam ... top 'o page femshep.

Speaking of apathy...

In my one, single response to the last -- what, six pages now?  Seven? -- the reason I was so dismissive to the original accusation was because I really do not care.  So Upsettinghorts thinks I'm a big fat jerk.  Oh well.  I know I'm not a big fat jerk, and since I do not know Upsettingshorts in any capacity, and value his opinion less, his accusation has no impact on me.  I'd have happily let it slide by unnoticed.  In fact, I almost (and should have, in hindsight) let the original request for the face code slide by without response, but I figured that would be more rude than saying a simple, "thank you, but no".  Lesson learned, I suppose... next time, be rude, it saves trouble later.  We could've avoided this whole pointless sequence of veiled insults and everyone would've been happier, except perhaps Upsettingshorts, who is apparently a troll extraordinaire (despite his protestations to the contrary) that enjoys inciting conflict for its own sake.  I am not going to share my facecode, simple as that; it's my right to do so, I'm harming nobody by doing it, and I'm apathetic towards what anyone thinks of my decision, for good or ill.

What I'm not apathetic about is the femShep thread itself, and because of that, this is finally starting to ****** me off.  There are people who weren't even part of the original exchange who seem to care more about the insult towards me than I do.  Yes, I understand that the insult could be extrapolated to you and by extension many other femShep fans (or broShep fans, or Dragon Age players, or anyone else who creates a character in any other character creator in any video game and doesn't want to share their creations).  But it wasn't directed at you, and while I appreciate your attempt to stand up for me, yourself, and all other players who so selfishly refuse to share the means of recreating their characters, could you please just ignore it and let the thread go back to being a primarily flame-free zone?  Trolls die very quickly if you don't feed them.

I have always enjoyed this thread because even what minor conflicts or arguments pop up are always handled quickly and in a civil fashion.  This has been neither, and for the last seven-ish pages it has really spoiled the mood.

I honestly do not care if someone is willing to share facecodes or not.  It's their choice, their decision, and getting upset about that is...well, I don't know what to call it without insulting anyone, and it is not my intent to further the discussion, so I'll just drop it here.

Anyways, I promised earlier that I'd show off my newest femShep, and here she is:

Posted Image

Her name is Kyra.  She's a Colonist/Ruthless Paragade Adept.  Before I go into her history and story, I'd like to explain why I've got (yet) another FemShep going.

I've only done a few playthroughs of either ME1 or ME2 with a femShep, including this current one.  I realized before I started Kat that femShep had become "canon" in my mind.  My dudeShep is great, I really like the guy, and I'll be taking him into ME3 for sure, but Commander Shepard is, in my mind, a woman.  So, I started Kat as my canon playthrough.  I wanted to have her be a Colonist/Sole Survivor, because even though it could be the most "angsty" background combo, I felt it had some great headcanon rp potential, and I still think that....if the story had ended in ME1.  With ME2, as I played Kat more and more, I just couldn't connect with her like I had in ME1.  The fact that Cerberus was instrumental in the events surrounding Akuze meant that I could not see her ever working for Cerberus, especially with the paper thin justification given in ME2.  So, I decided to change my femShep's background.

Now, I certainly could have just redone Kat, and made her background something different, but I feel that each of my femSheps are their own characters.  It wouldn't feel right to me to go back and redo Kat, but with a different background.  It wouldn't be "Kat" anymore, just like I couldn't go back and change Rani from an earlier playthrough.  So, unfortunately, I must lovingly retire Kat, and start fresh with what is hopefully my final canon Shepard.

So, with that wall-o-text outta the way, I'll say a few things about Kyra.  I actually sat and considered the various background combinations, and how they'd impact a playthrough, rp-wise.  I've always loved the earthborn/war hero combo, but that one's taken by my broShep, and I wanted something different for my FemShep.  I also *LOVE* the colonist background for a femShep (Hale does a MUCH better job at the "I remember me" lines than Meer does, imo), so I thought I'd try the Ruthless background, seeing as I've never gone that route before.  It makes for an interesting combination, and can either justify an ultra-renegade Shepard or a remorseful Paragade Shepard.  I chose the remorseful paragade, since that falls into what I want as "canon" for the ME series.

The events on Mindoir affected Kyra deeply, more deeply than she realized.  She'd gotten some councelling before joining the Alliance, to deal with the trauma of the raid, but the issue wasn't fully resolved. The attack on Elysium by pirates and slavers and the scum of the Terminus systems triggered a rage in her that she couldn't contain, and when the time came for the battle on Torfan, she was enraged beyond mercy, beyond sanity.  In my mind, she didn't send her marines to die callously, she just acted.  Those actions lead to many unnecessary deaths in her unit, and she's felt horribly guilty ever since.  She hides it well, even managed to fool Alliance psych evaluators, but it's that guilt that makes her more paragon.  She refuses to let herself lose control again like she did on Torfan.  It'll come close, though.  During BDtS, I already have her responses mapped out.  She'll kill Charn when he tries to talk, because he'll casually mention a slave grab, and that'll trigger her rage.  But the hostages lives will snap her out of it, and she'll let Balak go to save them, because she cannot let others die for her revenge.

I think that's enough of a post on Kyra for now.  I hope y'all don't mind that I show off my Shepards like I do.  I just really enjoy getting into their heads, and working out how my headcanon and the game's decisions can mesh into a coherent whole.  Plus I'm proud of how each one has looked.  Kyra needs tweaking in ME2, though...in some angles, her cheekbones are a little too pronounced.  Not sure if I should narrow them, or bring them in yet.  I'll hafta cross that bridge when I get there.

I have felt something similar (as have others I've read) and gone back and changed things in ME1 after seeing how things happened in ME2. Sole survivor Shep working for Cerberus in ME2 is a prime example. It's really hard to reconcile on some characters.

Colonist/Ruthless is maybe my favorite combination for background because it can go either way. It was definitely my favorite to "head-canon-out" and resulted in the most morally grey of my Sheps, thus making them most interesting to think about.

Love the RP opportunities for all the Batarian related questlines, and paragon/renegade decisions. My colonist/ruthless Shep killed Charn too, same reasoning. Unlike Kyra, Caroline killed Balak too. She ended up completely ruthless. Great RP possibilities, based on how she reacted and dealt with Mindoir and Torfan.

Uh, not at all! It's good to read.

As much as I love picspam...I know there isn't a whole lot going on until more ME3 comes out.

Need to find one or more so I can use the line from Invader Zim.
"I put the fires out." "You made them worse!" "Worse... or better?"
Hm. Maybe I can make a group of motivators.

Me too <3 Except if femShep is skin tone 4 or higher, because she looks like an oil slick or possibly wrapped in cellophane under those lights.

Is it my graphics card or just Mass Effect? The darker skin tones don't seem to have this problem for me.

oh wow... 6 pages I missed... but it seems the conversations is still on sharing vs not sharing. personally - I understand both sides. I've shared face codes for some of my femsheps. I will also refuse (if anyone ever asks, they most likely won't :P ) to share face codes for my canons and a few favorites (I actually shared a code for one of them once and kinda regretted it, but meh).

and yeah femsheps look similar to each other most of the time, but nonetheless - some of us feel attached, we feel like they are not just femsheps - they are this specific Shepard, unique in their personality, backstory, motivations, hopes and dreams and morals. they become more then just in game avatars.

some writers, artists, etc - love fanart. some tolerate it. and some - absolutely forbid it. this... is kinda the same. and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. move one, focus on those that welcome it instead of berating someone for their personal choices.

speaking of femshep whose code I will not share.

Personally, if I could share my femshep code, I would. Is there a way to produce a code from a me1 save?

Ah Rinji, i spotted this question yesterday but forgot to answer it.
The easiest way to do it is to import the save to the ME2 CC, then you'll have that face replace the default.
Then start recreating her under custom, it really helps alot if you can still remember the facial structure, but having the face imported in the CC will enable you to switch back and forth between viewing the custom and the import so you can compare the two against eachother more easily.

It's a roundabout way of doing it, but the only one. Might take a bit of trial and error, but there are ways (atleast on the pc) to skip part of the starting cinematics to speed up the road to the CC and reduce it to about 5 mins of waiting every time opposed to 20.

No, not so awesome, now I want to tweak her again =(
Observe:

Hairstyle..why you look good =(

Also, I want to try that with the modded lipcolor I have her with here:

And then possibly give her a lighter eyecolor..
And then tweak her browdepth, because it's too pronounced.
And bleh, feck me. What have I done, shoulda left it well alone! =(

Chocolate and alcohol.. good idea =o

OK, so, this is my first post, after taking a few weeks to catch up on all the great posts in this thread - not even sure now if i started from the start or somewhere else along the way...but it's taken a while ;)

Let my first post be of my newly created (tonight) Engineer (my first of this class), Idoru Shepard:

She is Colonist/Survivor/Engineer who at the moment I am just playing as it goes, not too sure what side of the Paragon/Renegade line she will fall on yet. Tried to make her look like the "Official" FemShep for ME3 with a few tweaks.

I have 3 other femsheps (1is ME2 only) that i intend to introduce to you all, but this was a good a first post as any :)

And also got a question for all you brilliant people, i have modded my ini for ME2 to enable flycam/screenshots/HUD removal/Pausing - but how do i go about it for ME1 (before i go searching the forums for the answer)??

Cheers
