I'm currently working on my "perfect" playthrough for my favorite Shepard, Kyrah, (I only JUST became a Spectre, *le sigh*.... this is gonna take forever) so it's easiest for me to answer this for her than any other of my girls.

The lovely woman in question:
Posted Image
(as always, sorry for quality; yay Xbox!)

1. Cerberus plays heavily into her backstory before the events of Mass Effect 1 or 2. The most stark example of this was how her biotics were developed. Before Akuze, she was well known in the Alliance as being an incredibly gifted "engineer" (if we're to use the game's classes to designate her knack in those areas), but she was actually captured by Cerberus and was forcefully "given" biotics by their scientists. As a result, she's an incredibly powerful biotic, but is extremely hesitant and uncomfortable using them (until Kaidan helps her accept and gain confidence in her abilities).

2. Both Kaidan and Garrus were present when she encountered Toombs on Ontarom. Neither man had any idea what happened on Akuze (other than the tale that she lost her whole team and was the only one who survived- Kyrah makes it a point to make sure that no one finds out), so they were both shocked to hear what she had suffered through at the hands of Cerberus. Because of this, Kyrah becomes close with both of them- Garrus as a friend, Kaidan as more. Understandably, her encounter with Kaidan on Horizon breaks her heart more than she would like to admit, so she moves on to Garrus- who has been there for her through the thick and thin, and understands.

3. Before she died, she was heavily, heavily tattooed. Some of her more notable tattoos include a lotus on her chest, a huge "mural"  piece on her back that's dedicated to her childhood in Tokyo, that extends from her left shoulderblade down to the uppermost part of her right buttock, and she has black bands around her arms with the service number in them, for every soldier that's died under her command. After Akuze, you can understand just how many bands she's got. You can understand just how happy she was with Miranda after she woke up and was a blank slate again, but she's decided to begin a new piece: one that begins with an image of the Normandy right above her heart.

4. Being an Earthborn, she belonged to a "gang", although that's largely a misnomer. I RPthe Reds to be very similar to Garrus' Omega group, and was actually Garrus' inspiration, and his way to honor Kyrah after her death. The reason why the Reds were known to be anti-alien in ME1 (which is very much against Kyrah's perspective, as she is very much a xenophile) was because Cerberus soon took over the Reds after Kyrah joined the Alliance, and were trying to ruin her reputation.

5. She develops a drinking problem in Mass Effect 2, especially before she finds Garrus in Omega, because she feels so lost. But whenever something emotionally impactful happens, she drinks herself silly. The first instance we see is Ashley's death on Virmire, and after Horizon, she gives the "Presidium" fish to the krogan as a prank because she was SO drunk.

June Shepard – Earthborn, Survivor, Infiltrator, Sniper expert

1. She is not a natural blonde, but stays that way just to ****** you off with your blonde hating.
2. She wishes she had longer hair.
3. She is an ultramarathon runner, preferring to explore planets on foot rather than use a vehicle.
2. She loves art.

And don't tell anyone, but...

5. She LOVES to cuddle. One she starts she just can't stop.

Just a quick question from a newbie Posted Image .... how do you get screen shots from the PC?

While it may sound like a silly question, and I know that it is, I've tried doing the "Print Screen" option but it always copies the screen behind my ME screen ... so just wondering if there is a trick that I'm not aware of?

I use Fraps, (http://www.fraps.com).  It's a free screencapture program you can use to take pics on a PC. People have said F11 works, but your milage may vary.

EDIT: Here's a good tutorial on screen captures from SageQueen's Game Tourists site.

Another roundabout way is to load the game via steam (can link non-steam games) and setup a screenshot key on steam for steam cloud uploads. As Jamie said though, I personally use fraps too, and the highres screenshot functionality described in sage's blog and that works wonders.
Also, if you fraps, can record stuff and screenshot specifics out of the raw avi later =)

You running Windows 7? The "print the desktop regardless of what's playing" issue is usually the fault of the Aero desktop. You can turn that off, or right-click on the MassEffect.exe to bring up the properties and uncheck... damn, I forget what it's called, but something about screen capture or desktop capture or something, so it turns off Aero by itself just wen you run that program.

But yeah, that's the clumsy way around and requires alt-tabbing every time you hit it. It's much better to edit your .ini files and add a PrntScrn keybind, and just fill your ScreenShot folder like the game is already designed to do. (Why they didn't keep the functionality in the shipped game is beyond me; screencapping is the most basic thing in a PC game...)

Oh and yes, this thread is cliquish and one-track as hell, but that doesn't have anything to do with facecode sharing, or lack thereof. Trying to make a point of femShep thread behavior with an argument about facecodes is like trying to make a point about the economy by starting a religious debate. Not only is it totally unrelated, it's something some people feel crazy passionate about to the point where it wouldn't prove anything even if it were related because the resulting fight would trump any other considerations for everyone involved.

1. Jakarta also has a tattoo. She got it after the Blitz, in honor of her squad there; four trained soldiers, including herself, and ten locals she recruited off the street because there was no one else. Despite the whole thing standing as one of the Alliance's greatest victories, she considers it a major failure, because she had to send civilians into the line of fire.
2. She plays alto sax. Her genres of choice are mostly modern stuff a Spacer would have grown up listening to - stuff that doesn't exist in our world, like "lowhull" and "relay pop" - but she does love a good jazz tune, and compulsively improvises riffs to every piece of music she ever hears.
3. She's allergic to cats.
4. She's great at pretty much every board game except chess. She'll kick your butt at go, mancala, backgammon, whatever. But pull out the chessboard and she'll go off on a rant about what a ridiculous game it is and how it's a horrible metric for strategic thinking or mental acuity and refuse to play, because she loses games of chess to ten-year-olds.
5. She's also also a hockey fan. Which is a bit of a problem for her, because it's not like there are a lot of rinks or big-name teams back home in Bali.

Rhea Shepard

1. Rhea was hospitalized six times with critical injuries before she reached 18.
2. A lover of 20th century progressive jazz, Rhea immediately deleted the sorry excuse for music provided in her quarters, replacing it with everything she could find by Weather Report and Chick Corea. One can only put up with so much.
3. Rhea's permanent souvenir from her days of running with the Reds: across her lower back, a full-color tattoo of a phoenix rising from the flames. She is too embarassed by it to ask Miranda how it is that she could still have it after her "resurrection."
4. Rhea is secretly fascinated by the Illusive Man. Using a secure account she asked Tali to create for her, she has spent hours pulling together fragments of data, trying to catch a glimpse of the real man behind the carefully constructed facade.
5. An injury from her very first mission left Rhea almost blind in her left eye. As she was calming Veetor on Freedom's Progress, she realized for the first time that she now has perfect vision in both eyes.

At first I was like :crying:

But after hearing that we'd be able to make CC aliens, I was like :)

Upon hearing that ME3's SP isn't compromised in the slightest, I was like

Upon hearing that the MP was essentially a second campaign, I was like :o

Depending on how robust the CC for the aliens is, we might have to make another thread, gals and guys!

It'll be PC vs NPCs. I'm guessing it'll be an extended "horde + objectives mode".

Can't wait to put together a krogan with big red eyes and a scarred up face.

So basically it's Left 4 Dead: Mass Effect.

Seriously disappointed in BioWare.

Of course, after beta-ing The Old Republic and not even bothering to log in for this latest round of testing because it was so bad, BioWare has now stacked up a record of zero for three in my personal metric, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised at yet another disappointment.

I am just crossing my fingers that ME3 will be a satisfactory end to the trilogy. Not outstanding, just satisfactory. After that, I think I'll probably wash my hands of BiowEAre.

Horde(gears)/Firefight(Halo) in ME?! ARE YOU KIDDING?! THAT'S EFFING AWESOME. I've always wanted Kallen to have some sort of last stand where she makes it out alive. She would NEVER let anyone go without hearing the story. She'd hack every television station as she gave a speech about it. Sheriously I would....I mean she would. >.>

From the sounds of it, we literally have NOTHING to worry about There are two teams working on Mass Effect at the moment. Bioware Montreal is working on the SP, and they've been doing that since day one of the series. And according to a dev, he's currently 30 hours in to the single player campaign. I think my average for ME1 was about 15 hours, and for ME2 it was about 35 hours (with the DLC). So regardless of whether the MP is in ME3 or not, the SP will be just as robust and well rounded as ever.

Essentially we have two teams. One making a SP based campaign. One making a MP based campaign. 30 hours with just the SP + a possible additional, what, 5-10 hours for the MP?

Sounds like win to me.

*not disrespecting your opinion, just clarifying how thorough BW is being on this matter*

I hate to admit it, but I was dead wrong. This MP actually sounds interesting.

My only draw back is that the split focus between MP and SP will mean that we'll likely get less SP based DLC in the future.

Bioware Montreal is a new element, and they will work on the co-op side of it.

Same amount of effort is going into ME3 as before, except... more.

Hey Gilberto! Good to see you in here. This blog, written by datSilencer, is REALLY helpful for ME1 flycam. Take a looksee! And I like your Shep.

http://social.bioware.com/1633752/blog/17324/

As for multiplayer, I've never been big on that.  I most likely won't partake.  I don't want to see the single player game suffer because of it.  I honestly don't get what the obssession with MP is as of late.  Why add it to a game thats never had it and does fine?  Oh well, I'm sure it'll be enjoyable for people who like that kind of thing.

I could probably make some "nerd rage" over multiplayer, but in reality I find myself not caring all that much. If it mucks up the single-player experience, then yes. Irritation.
