But anyway, question time:

Tell us five things that aren't obvious/other do not know about your Shepard.

Renée, my primary FemShep has this

1.  She wishes she could be a purer explorer.  Rather like MIDN Blakeney in "Master and Commander:  the Far Side of the World." (The one-armed boy), or the United States Exploring Expedition
2.  She rarely swears.  Her Grandmother fined that out of her, and even made her old Granddad stop swearing.
3.  Her main hobby is designing gardens.  To facilitate this, she wants a rather large area and a small house after her retirement, somewhere with an Earthlike day.
4.  She hadn't had a significant other for quite a while before the events of Mass Effect.  She found the issues of being deployed somewhere made it too unpleasant for trying to keep a committed relationship going.
5.  Her memorial to those lost under her command is a silver bracelet, with black enamel lettering on the inside, for each person lost under her command.  There's two from Elysium, Jenkins, Ash, and the names of all those lost on SSV Normandy.  She doesn't want to add another.

Addition:  ToP Sheps:

Both from  Mass Effect, but we need pictures from the whole thing, right?

Caroline Shepard:

  • hates the cold; misses her apartment on intai'sei
  • has been a total tomboy since childhood
  • rocks out in her cabin, is mortified of getting caught doing air guitar
  • has a thing for tall blondies
  • talks to herself; swears like a sailor

Didn't recognize her for a second without the beret! ;)

definitely not a dumb question :)

easiest way is to sign up for one of the free onsite image hosting sites (photobucket.com, imageshack.us [i think] etc) and upload your pics there. Then each pic will have link that they give you for use on forums, blogs etc.

When creating a post here, use the [*img]<image url goes here>[*/img] format to include the pic in the post (remove the 2 *'s in the actual code though). There are other more fancy bits of code that will make the pic "clickable" to go to the pic's URL in another window, but the basics are good enough :)

Hope that is clear enough :)

I always thought playing a spacer turned ruthless would be a fun run.  Do you recommend it? Do you play her paragon or run with the ruthless and play renegade?

Sorry Kyrene, I'm one of those pretentious people who don't give out my main's code for public consumption. *grins evilly* But I am willing to give you other codes for some of my other Shepard's. Its just Zody is the Shepard I use in fics and fanart. It wouldn't make her unique to me if everyone had her.

Thanks for the compliment on Zody, though I can't say she is the prettiest Shepard here. There is a lot of other knocks outs here. But she is completely unmodded though.

But..... WHAAAAAAAH! I don't want your other codes! I want Zody's code you pretentious facecode hogger! Posted Image

Seriously though, it was mostly a joke, as I think you realized. And you're right to not want to share. And also about some of the other knock outs.

I kind of figure if I'm going ruthless I might as well go all the way and be a complete renegade!  I've only just started, touched down on Eden Prime this morning, but this is the first time I've played as a ruthless and you can see the difference especially as I've normally gone as war hero but so far from what I've seen I think I will enjoy it!

(insert emotional blackmail here) Tell you what, I'll swap you Jane's code for hers? What? Didn't you know Jane was loosely based on Quorra (Olivia Wilde) from TRON: Legacy. C'mon, you know you wanna! She really doesn't look like everyone's Shepard. Pwueeeeeeze!

So are you going to actually say who's shepards you're talking about or do you lack the ovaries your femshep has to get the job done?Posted Image

I say this because people will interpretyour vagueness to think that you're talking about them and being coy about it and that could have...unpleasant complications.

Well then people need to NOT interpret my vagueness. Like I think you just did there. And then jump to the wrong conclusions, resulting in "unpleasant complications."

Anything's inherent value/beauty is ultimately in the eye of the beholder. Since I'm responding to you directly, allow me to use your femShep (Kallen Kouzuki Shepard, yes?) as an example:
Posted Image

I will quad up and say I don't find her attractive, all that realistic or inspiring. If you want, although I think that it would be counter-productive once I've made (and you've understood) my point, I could point out everything I don't like about her (in a PM). But you know what? It doesn't matter one f*cken iota! You like her, or are at least happy with the latest iteration of her. You find her attractive, realistic, inspiring, awesome, and many other subjective adjectives.

So really, I don't think I need to "actually say who's shepards" I'm "talking about” and I certainly do “lack the ovaries" my "femshep has to get the job done," since I am male after all.

Also, I suspect you took, what Red took as the semi-serious joke it was, too seriously (see my reply to her somewhere above this one to you). Or you may be spoiling for a mudslinging. Or I am the one at fault, and am misreading your intentions.

Tell you what, PM me if you want further clarification. In fact, if anyone else has an issue with the roundabout way I ultimately gave Red a compliment on Zody, PM me.

My previous Jane was a ruthless spacer and turned out renegon enough to have full (level 4 I think) scars. What she had to do on Torfan scarred her enough emotionally that she has become desensitized to the point of repeating it in everything she does. Being a spacer had everything to do with her being on Torfan in the first place, so I don't see that side of her helping her make paragon decisions. Not relating to her mother doesn't help either.

Long bullsh*t story aside, play your femShep as you want to play her. A paragon of virtue can be ruthless too, as long as it's only against the so-called "bad guys."

Edit: Below edited for clarity, and to totally divorce the facecode issue from this challenge.

Speaking of face codes and being, rightly possessive (even if for the wrong reasons), about our "main" femSheps, here's a challenge for all you talented character creators/gibbed editors/textmodders:

Use the face code of your main (I'm talking about the Noahs, Kyries, Hrists–just how the hell do you pronounce that anyway?– Zodys, and others I cannot recall the names of at the moment) and modify that edit ever so slightly to create a totally (and hopefully as iconic) different character and then publish this new character's face edit and (if you want) code here.

Sorry, I don't have any prizes like Jamie always has edit, except to use this incentive. Let's prove just how wrong Short's "they all look the same anyway" assertion was. Or, hell, just do it for the fun of it. I'll post mine a couple of hours from now, once I'm home to do it.

I've already posted up codes for, what I would call, 7 pretty unique looking femsheps, alongside a male shepard. (That's not counting having shared an 8th femshep with some in private and working on a collage for the 9th so i can share her).
Then there's the initiative to make a femshep with every facestructure, which sparked interest in the thread here to partake in. From the people that have joined in and created 9 femsheps some have also shared the face-codes of those shepards. This initiative was motivated by so many people using the same face-structure (or so it seems), and using ALL of them seemed to help with new and more unique/different creations.

So honestly, I don't feel motivated to disprove anyone's point at this junction.
I'd have been more enclined to do it ifnot sparked from something as negative as the issue that arose in the thread on the subject of sharing.

If people choose to think, because I don't share ALL my facecodes or for whatever reason, that I'm an ungiving and uncaring individual, then that's their business. They clearly don't know me.
Also, I really don't give a rats *ss whether shorts or anyone else thinks they all look alike, cause they don't and honestly it's as insulting as saying all black or asian people look alike. They just miss the sensibility to see it.

Anyways, not that it's not a nice initiative Kyrene, have at it and such.

Wait, is this a recent development?  I could swear you posted her facecode in the Share Your Sheps thread ages and ages ago.  I am almost positive I used it to tweak one of my own Sheps.  I guess you could have always tweaked her since then; it really was a loooong time ago.

It happens quite often people start by sharing a face then decide not to anymore, because they've grown more attached to them or they became the object of creativity.
I've seen that happen quite a few times.

Does the spark make it negative though? Let me perhaps just elaborate on my reasoning for this challenge. We all have an iconic character. Most of us are loathe to share the facecode for this iconic character. I most assuredly support this and anyone that demands otherwise is an arse. It's also outside the scope of this.

What I am interested in is the following though: Can any of us take our iconic character and without resorting to just cosmetic changes (like ELE did with the high-bun version of her platinum blonde a while back; sorry ELE, her name escapes me at the moment) create another iconic character (perhaps a Scandinavian blonde from your previously Asian, or a Xhosa from your previously red headed Irish)? Sharing the face code for this new creation is entirely optional. So too is making a new name from an anagram of the former... Eh, no, I just added that last bit in, pay me no mind. Posted Image

Anyways, not that it's not a nice initiative Kyrene, have at it and such.

Raine's alternite reality version will be sorely missed. I was looking forward to what you could come up with for Airen. Posted Image

I guess that's what happened, since I just checked the thread and it appears to have been removed.

Too bad no one can ever delete my collection of post-it notes with FemShep codes written on it!  MWAHAHAHA.  (Actually I don't have that particular code anymore; I purged my post-it note collection to try and keep from making more Shepards.  It didn't work.)

@Kyrene: Raine is an ME1 import, making her was through inspiration in this thread actually, seeing all these unique creations and their stories, their proud owners, it sparked interest in me and my sheps since then have had more thought put behind them, they are their own people, individuals.

More directed towards Ryn and Jamie and the friends I've made here: The femshep thread, the femshep site, all of you have given that to me, and not only that, have also sparked my motivation to start drawing again after years of inactivity on that front.
I am and have been truly inspired by the caring nature of the (yes) members of this particular sub-community on the BSN.

To get back to the point, Raine being an import though makes it hard to remake her, when I first posted her up, I got asked for her code and did take the effort to try and recreate her in the ME1 CC for a second time, which took me a good few hours. Altho a close match, ofc not completely the same and with time the differences became more apparent. So in a way, Raine v2 already exists in the form of Silverhammer's Talia.
I have given him the headmorph when I finally managed to finish my ME1 playthrough, so they are more 'alike' now, but yeah, point being. It's already been done. As does Red have a version of Raine with scamper's crewcut+mohawk haircut, which gives her an entirely different 'feel' as a character. Mizz has a version which she, a while back, used to create a different Shepard, or so I believe.

Now this isn't exactly what you meant, but alot of us, as I've come to understand, use previously made creations to create new unique Shepards. Use them as a base, so to speak. Or use creations of others as a base. It's not a new invention to think in such therms.
This was already happening far before this discussion arose or your initiative was opted.

To add, I'm stubborn, really am. And i've got a brother dead (dutch expression) to the arisen discussion of sharing, so i'm very unlikely to partake just because of that. I honestly think that if you want to take this challenge because of the fun of it, then sure, but don't do it to make a point to others. That's more often then not a fruitless endeavour.

Edit: ELE's beauty's called Drea btw =)

Totally. I remember when I convinced the hanar to stop preaching on the presidium and the C-Sec officer rewarded me with... 10 omnigel! So disappointing. Not to mention the consort's "gift of words". Enough with the spooky talk, good-looking, and let me hold a dollar.
