(Yep, completed Arrival. Have about 2-3 N7 assignments to finish and then Riza's ready for ME3.)

I think the Little Miss Badass trope fits Mara better. :P

How did you come to know about ME? How long did it take you to settle down and play the game with your FemShep?

My ans ...

I have been following BW ever since playing NWN, KOTOR. So after JE, I was hapyy to learn they were coming up with another. Sci fi this time. However, it was soley meant for the XB. Even though I do have a XB, it was more of a white elephant turned into a piece of junk occupying space in my room. Disappointed but I did not buy the XB version, reckoning that if it was released for PC, I would get it. If it was not, then I would not bother with it even though the reviews for it were good.

As for femShep, it took several restarts before I finally settle down to play the game. Posted Image

A friend showed me the E3 footage for ME1 back before it was coming out. I thought it was really cool looking but it didn't catch my interest right off the bat. It was my roommate who bought ME1 the day was released. I watched him play a bit and he told me a little about the story and that I could make a custom female Shepard. This appealed to me so I picked it up when he wasn't playing it. I beat it in 3 days and as soon as I beat it, I immediately restarted my character over again to play it again. I've been hooked ever since.

One of my friends told me to play it. I generally don't take stock in what he says, but this time I thought, eh, why not. So I pre-ordered ME2. I ran out of money, however, and had to cancel it, but wound up buying ME1 on sale at Best Buy one day. I beat it in four nights, bought the second one, beat it in three nights, and never looked back.

My boyfriend at the time, now just a friend, knew I was being all moopy at the rumors of a KOTOR MMO instead of KOTOR3. I had told him I wanted to play a Sci-Fi where I was a chick saving the galaxy. He then showed me this video from E3 2006 that I had apparently missed. I asked him if I could play a chick and he said yes of course, it's a Bioware game, they made KOTOR1, and then I was sold.

One of my friends coaxed me into trying it, and when I had it installed while he was here visiting he ended up playing Eden Prime here. All I saw back then was shooting and as I'd never been into that, I didn't try till months later (after ME2's release I think). Loved it once I actually sat down and made a character.

I came across the game last October or so. I think I was going through TVTropes and ran across it's page. Got both games and tried it out. Hooked.

As for me and ME, I came was just going through the latest games that were available on (unnamed) torrent site, saw ME2 was new, did a quick search and read about it. I got it, started playing it and was pretty soon hooked. wasn't long after that that i then bought ME2, and ME1.

Have to say that ME2 was the first game I've completed in it's entirety since the original Deus Ex and have since done 1 full ME1+ME2, almost finished another (just got Reaper IFF, Legion's Loyalty & SM to go) - all 3 as femshep. My current femshep is Bianca (ME1 Vanguard, changed to Adept in Lazarus Project) full renegade who has just caught up with Liara after helping her with her pesky Yahg issue ;) (Recently though I figured i needed to follow through the whole Vanguard thing, so have started another ME2 with Bianca who underwent considerable facial reconstructive surgery during Lazarus Project)

I have now started another 2 ME1 playthroughs - one my first manshep ( Sentinel, Insanity) and my 4th femshep (Engineer, Hardcore - Idoru who is pictured <-).

...and continuing on that note, i'll be posting some pics of my FemSheps soon - though not of my original ME2 character as I played her long before i knew things could be modded, or Fraps existed. Maybe I'll load her up to take some pics of her...
Here is my newest character, the ME2 Vanguard Bianca (opposed to the ME2 ADEPT Bianca - confusing, i know :P)

Bianca Shepard: Vanguard/Renegade

And yeah, I managed to get "that" shot at the start of the Freedom's Progress mission :)

EDIT: OK, now the linked pic is only 1280x720 - opposed to the whopping 2560x1440 it was - link is still to the biggun' though :)

I actually had stopped gaming alltogether for about a year prior to the following events, but on our annual christmas-beer meeting 2008 a friend of mine couldn't stop rambling about Mass Effect and when i was ill for about a week in january 2009, i came across it again on the usenet, so I XXXXXXXX self-incriminating statement censored XXXXXXXXXX and I fell immidiately in love with it, so when I was well enough again, I went out and bought a copy.
I picked FemShep on my first playthrough, because I love to blur my own gender perception IRL, so I pick a female PC whenever possible, so Anna really is more my digital alter ego than Ewan, my canon MaleShep.

I started to play Mass Effect about two years ago. I heard about this game before, but all that was only about ManShep. So I was not not interested in this game because I love to play female characters. But then my friend told me that Shepard can be a woman as well (just like Revan). My friend knew I was a huge fan of KotOR so she suggested me to play Mass Effect. Then I watched several videos on YouTube with female Shepard and decided "Yes! That's what I want". So several days ago I bought both games at once.

The first bioware game I played was Dragon Age Origins. I love that game to pieces. When I bought Dragon Age 2 (which I loved btw) I got Mass Effect 2 as a free download. I had already known you could play as femshep since by then it was pretty well known. I recently bought ME1 and all the dlc for both games except for overlord (which I'll be getting soon)

Well, I played the first big BioWare Games like Baldur's Gate (1&2) and Neverwinter Nights (with all the expansions) so BW was definately on my radar.
Mass Effect though kind of disappeared for me as I heard that it was only released to consoles, until I stumbled over the PC port of it by accident, more or less (props to Demiurge for a really good port).
I was looking for a new RPG with a great story, and knowing that BioWare always delivered on the story so far, I bought ME1 and was pretty much hooked from the get-go.
So far I have not played any game as often as I did both of the Mass Effect Games.

I was searching for new game to play with, and around a year earlier I come across ME2 and give it a try. I have a maleshep in my first playthrough in ME2 (he is now in Red's hand), then I started my first femshep as Colly after getting ME1.

I don't know of any actress who could play Jessica Shepard.  I can't think of anyone who has her look, or who has the right personality to portray the particular variety of brittle toughness that the Jessica in my head carries with her like a riot shield.

I don't know, is there an actress who at least looks like her who I am just unaware of?

Woah, that face looks nice! Do you have the slider options or a face code to match that?

I came to know about Mass Effect randomly and fairly blind. I'd hear people mention on various forums (like ArsTechnica) how great a game it was, but I didn't pay much attention because it was labeled as an RPG and I'd never been much of an RPGer.

Then on a whim when it was low priced during last year's Steam Christmas Sale, I bought it after checking out the gameplay videos on YouTube and seeing that it was more action than I'd expected (for a long time, my only concept of combat in RPGs was turn-based stuff, mainly from watching friends play FF and such). Started playing it and was immediately hooked on the game itself and the overall story, but not on the character I was playing. First time I played, I started with a default Sheploo. I played about halfway through or so with him but his character just wasn't doing anything for me. I can't point to any single reason why, but I juswt wasn't connecting with the character. So, I thought making a custom character might be better for me, since I'd feel more invested in the character.

So, I started the game over. I went back to the beginning. Clicked the custom button. I saw the option for a female Shepard and thought, hey, that could make things interesting. I chose an infiltrator and customized her face and came up with the original Artemis, who is essentially identical to the current Artemis, except she had blue eyes and her face was a bit too thin and bony. I've essentially been playing mainly with her character ever since, though when I finally managed to pull a facecode from the ME2 import (and I'm still not sure how I did it) and backport it to ME1 sliders, I made 2 small changes. 1.) I gave Artemis brown eyes, as I thought it fit my vision of her better. 2.) I made a light-blue-eyed twin of her named Athene who is a Vanguard.

But, anyway, that's how I got into it. CSB, and all that.

First character I played was Jane, and first time round I honestly just mashed some buttons, from her first incarnation in ME1, she got a complete overhaul going into ME2:

Well... I did know the game quite some time but I actually bought it only about 6 month before ME2. There was this pretty sweet deal in Steam and the I got hooked. I had many Sheploo runs but it was not a custom Shep so the attachment to the character wasn't that great. After about to Sheploo runs in ME2 I decided to try making femShep since was pretty obvious that I couldn't make human like maleShep. The fact that I found out Hale did the lines for femShep was a big plus too. After that Tiia kinda got the leading Shepard role.

First version was pretty close to my current Shepard. I finished one ME2 run with the original. Then I started ME1 run again and made another femShep, I didn't remember the sliders and tired to make it look like the one I had. I failed horribly, she wore helmet all the time in ME1 and when I imported her in to ME2 it become obvious that I had to recreate the original the hard way.

Recreating the original worked fine, got the exact code but there were few colour related differences (blush, eyes and maybe some other colour differences). Then there was this tweaking period, small changes here and there. I nailed the face structure and other face parts in the first version already.

That phase actually took some time and countless playthrough restarts. Eventually I was happy and this is the result. In the end there isn't that much differences to the original one but face proportions changed quiet a bit. I translated that face code to ME1 and all ME2 saves that I have kept are pure ME1 imports. Because of that the ME2 face code isn't exact match when it comes to make up and eye colour. I also tweaked the blush intensity for my current playthrough right from the beginning since for some reason it is much stronger in ME2 than what it was in ME1 (I believe that someone slacked and that's the reason why the intensity was 1 after import).

I'm really happy how things ended up and this is the Shepard I will use. I've become rather fond of my Shepard and the fact that it's not preset strengthens that feeling.
