And less heartbreak than in ME2 (and better dialogue from Shepard)

I'm hoping all of Shepard's relationships will have a fantastic conclusion...
After all, I have a FemShep for each of them.
Guess I need to do the same. There's plenty of time between now and ME3 to explore all the branches, I suppose. My problem, though, is that every FemShep I try to create now just looks like a variant of Enid or Rhea. Somehow I always end up gravitating toward similar characteristics.
Enid

Rhea

Enid's response to my problem would be "Well, you just can't improve on perfection." Rhea would just raise one eyebrow, shake her head, and get back to work.
And yes, that pic of Enid makes me really nostalgic for the richness of the ME1 universe. Here's hoping we'll get at least a little of that back in ME3.
On a different note: @ELE08 - Nice work on the "Jane Comparison." Did anyone else think the BioWare face was just too "anime-ish?" Maybe it's just my tendency to be obsessive about realism, but, while I liked the hairstyle, the face just looked like a repeat of 1000 other anime female faces I've seen. Apologies if someone has already made that observation; I'm still trying to catch up after an unavoidable ME hiatus.

I don't see it, but then again, I'm no anime buff. I actually think our new Jane looks A LOT like Mila Jovovich, actress and model:

Maybe it's the hair? I'm no anime buff either, so when I think of "anime" I picture bobble heads with giant eyeballs and spiky hair...and this is not what I think of when I look at new default Jane. A matter of perception, eh?
She has a similar aesthetic to lady Hawke to me: cute angular features, perfectly tousled "action" hair...
I dunno, there are a lot of similarities when you get into the mean of what is 'attractive.' She does look a lot like Mila...or Winona Ryder, or Natalie Portman...
Jane frowns on your insinusations and looks forward to omniblading you in your sleep in ME3...j/k!

That was the first thing I thought of when I saw her. Big eyes, little nose. Just a tad too "animme-ish" for me. Since I'm not a big fan of that style, but an bombarded w/ it constantly, I tend to spot it rather quickly.

Well, maybe. But I think more to the point is that, to me, she doesn't look like any real person, and her expression comes across more like an adolescent pout than the intended menacing glare. It's a generic 14-year-old face on an adult body. I hate to say this, but objectively compare her face with Sheploo's in the matching art.
Just my opinion.

To your point, maybe "anime" is too misleading. What I'm referring to is a style that evolved from some of the characteristics of anime -- something you see quite often these days in graphic novels / manga. Quickly googled example:

It's often beautiful work -- I just don't think it helps us get to a "real" default FemShep. It comes across as too young and too stylized to be believable as a real person.
...in my opinion.
"Omniblading"... Is that code?ELE08 wrote...

It's definitely not Speed Racer anime, but the characteristics you list are definitely there: Eyes just a bit too big, button nose, mouth just a bit too small, etc. I don't personally mind the style itself, I just don't think it helps us get to a believable character in this case.
If she looked at me that way, my response would be "Go to your room. Now. Oh, and hand over the Omni. You won't be seeing that again for at least a week."
I swear I'm not trolling; I was just honestly surprised that this was the face BioWare came up with.

Thanks for including that picture; it definitely helped me understand what you meant by "anime". Here I was thinking like Sailor Moon-esque proportions and I was like..."Jeez, I know that these glasses aren't just for show, but I didn't know I was THAT blind" . Silly me! ;]
But I definitely see your point. Jane does look a bit...different in comparison to Sheploo, but I think a lot of that is a result that Sheploo has a real-life counterpart. I'm not making an excuse for the artists, but its one thing to draw menace on eyes in a face that already tests "real" and "human" to our eyes because it does, well, belong to one, but Jane's doesn't- it's purely an invention, thus it's going to look a bit "off" from the get-go.
I think we're going to see the same thing in-game, as well. Jane's not going to be rendered from a real life face, so I think she's going to be more like our custom FemSheps than the female counterpart of Sheploo, who, I think, looks drastically different than any customizable MaleShep.
...I hope that makes some sort of sense. Yay sleepy brain!
But ultimately, why do I care? I have my own legion (heh) of beautiful custom FemSheps. I'm just finally happy we FemSheppers are finally getting a bone. I'm not going to complain (too much), unless you ask (please ask!).

This was very obviously NOT based on a real face, like Sheploo is. The proportions are WONKY. I've taken too many life drawing classes to look at this and feel like it's okay.
Plus she looks 12.

Well I am an Anime buff, of sorts, and no the Femshep face is not even close to being an Anime style face. Her eyes are an appropriate size and a round shape. Her hair is long but long hair is long hair (and I love it) The only thing anime ish about mass effect is the Liara statue that's coming out, not femshep.
Again, "anime-ish" was probably a poorly chosen term. As I explained earlier, I think it's really more akin to graphic novel / manga styles that have evolved from anime styles, as in the example X23 artwork above. At any rate, objectively it's not a realistic face (I'd say it resembles several actresses because it's so generic), and the overall impression it gives me is not age-appropriate for the character.
But I do like the hair.

I'm hoping it falls more into the category of concept art than finished face model.

granted it's not all that impressive, but ti's still not anime. Her hair isn't nearly as a spikey as it would be, her eyes are't big enough and I doubt a 12 year old is that tall, muscular, or as endowed as Femshep is.Sable Phoenix wrote...

I'm talking about her face only, not her body. Her face looks prepubescent. And the facial proportions are what makes her anime-looking. The eyes are far too wide-set for the bridge of the nose, and the mouth far too narrow for the eyes. Spiky hair has nothing to do with it.
