The double standard basically.
yup.
also double standard would be the eternal "must make the other men in the game seem less manly than the PC in every possible way so as not to damage PC man's fragile ego." however, sexy, smart, etc. female characters abound.
i appreciate the rocking female characters, though. i just wish there could be more cool guy characters that don't have to be made into clear sidekicks or aliens to avoid hurting m!PC's feelings.

I'm male and play femsheps as well as my character in Fallout 3 being female. Never saw anything wrong with it.
And damn the Xbox not having a screenshot feature so I can contribute to the femshep pics in this thread

Just re-read what I wrote in response to this and realised it was effectively the exact same thing you were asking for with the special edition. For some reason I got "Special Edition" in my head and figured it meant something it didn't! Oops

So,
I didn't see the kick in the face as I'm too lazy to go look, but
honestly.... it's a lost cause to ask for a FemShep cover. It's NOT
gonna happen. They've already established the fact that Sheploo is their
poster boy... he WILL be on the ME3 cover, no stopping it.
.
I
wasn't asking for them to replace Sheploo on the cover with Jane. I
asked for the Jane Shepard version to be released simultaneously with
the Sheploo one as a special edition.
This is
probably gonna seem like a stupid question (and I'm sure by the end of
this I'll realise it is), but why would it have to be a special edition?
Now, I know that Sheploo is their main guy, but couldn't they leave it
up to the individual gamer to decide which cover they want to buy? I get
that male gamers tend to be more prevalent (but also that not all males
play males/females play females) but would a player automatically
choose not to buy if they couldn't get the cover they wanted? Would new
gamers come along, see a woman on the cover and choose not to buy for
this reason? Maybe. Existing ME gamers know fine well they can play male
or female, but would they be bothered which cover they got? Ok, I'm
aware I have just tripped myself up here since the whole crux of the
argument is folks in here wanting FemShep on the cover, but it's more
about having the choice, and preferably, equal treatment for the two
Sheps.
I also know it's all about making money and marketing
costs come into play, etc (but they could print fewer FemShep covers).
Anyway, guess I'm just thinking out loud here, so rant over!! I just
want FemShep on the cover, dammit [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/unsure.png[/smilie]
I think that new male players might look at the cover with a female
shep and not buy it. It's the same idea as a female author using a
pseudonym that's monogendered so that males won't assume the book is
feminine because the author was a female. Female gamers are used to
dealing with playing as mostly male protagonists. Males are not used to
playing as females nessecarily though. The double standard basically.
edit - WTH happened to my quotes? I need to go crawl in a hole today

The ME1 version of Jane Shepard is actually beautiful in my eyes. Here is her in ME2 (imported from ME1):xxSgt_Reed_24xx wrote...
Ok, that'd be cool for those of us who would like FemShep on the cover. But like I said...default FemShep is nowhere near as polished as Sheploo (skin texture wise) and her face is just.... blech ... imo. They really should have put more time into Jane Shepard. Of course, that would have cost them another face model, which means extra money... cheap bastards. I'd like a FemShep cover, but I just don't like the look of Jane. =/

The ME2 default version, however, is not.

Oh there is, jlb! It's been known for some time now, though not many are aware of it. The ME1 version is a light-year more attractive than the ME2 version of Jane. I'm thankful I played ME1 with the default appearance as a female.
I disagree.
yeah um... Default ME1 Jane (and sheploo lmao):

the imported version that you posted looks so much better than that, IMO.

Because of the naturally better textured faces in ME2? I don't know. She's the default ME1 Jane, exported to ME2. That's how she looks in-game.xxSgt_Reed_24xx wrote...

That picture looks a million times better than the ME1 default Jane.

i thought me1 imports generally looked better because, so far as i can tell, if you do a straight up import (no tweaks) the eyelash meshes from ME1 stay on. if you get an me2 face or tweak it at all, the char has no eyelashes. at least, this is what happened to me and what i could find online in my searching.
so straight across from me1 imports have lashes on and me2 chars do not, so far as i can tell. sometimes thsi means the eyelashes clip, but other times it means they look way more awesome. this is why i took my toon and tweaked her appearance with gibbed but didn't dare mess with her in the character import screen.

Very nice, Firey! Thanks for sharing! Make sure you record a few videos of your FemShep fighting alongside Liara in the DLC, following it's release in a few week's time.

Oh, interesting.
I've just imported from ME1 and haven't touched my Shepard. I was happy with the way she looked.
I have made characters from scratch in ME2, and some of them have turned out OK.
