I'd like to know what you guys think about indoctrination?when Shepard met Shia'la on Ferros she claimed she was indoctrinated.She looked fine though during her conversation with Shepard.Could prothean visions or the cipher interfere with indoctrination?that would explain a little bit of Shia'la ,Shepard or Saren being exposed to reaper tech and suffering minor side effect(Sovereign had to upgrade Saren " to strenghen his resolve";-Arrival dlc).

I doubt that, it just depends on the time spend near a Indoctrinationn device or 'inside' a Reaper (+ Mental strengh of each person, see Saren and Benezia). Afterall it was stated in ME1 (I believe) that indoctrination is a slow process.

Fortunatly for Shepard, she never was near such devices for longer period of time. In ME2 she crossed twice Indoctrination Devices (that one in the Mining Facility N7 Mission and Arrival) and of course she spend a little time aboard the dead Reaper also. The Scientists and Miners were exposed to those devices for weeks which turned even their physical appearence into Husks, wheras the Alliance Scientists in Arrival spend a much shorter time around the device, changing their minds but not yet their appearence.

The most interesting question I have now is this: Is Sheppard already in the very first stages of being indoctrinated after being knocked out for two (?) Days from an Indoctrination Device in Arrival? The Harbinger Projection never made real sense to me. Is it really a Projection of himself there to have 'Smalltalk' with Shepard or is it an Image created inside her Mind? Please comment on this.

I see your point.However I do wonder if indoctrination is working as well as the reapers would like.Some subjects seem harder to control than others.Harbinger frustration toward Shepard shows at least that whatever he is trying to do to her is not working.If you remember when she met Vigil on Ilos,he mention something about organics being more difficult to control than synthetics.I do like that idea of Harbinger projection in Shepard's mind.Could it be an early stage of indoctrination?

@TheDaniellasaur - Yes, femsheps are awesome!

@SaturnRing - Welcome.

Shepard being indoctrinated. Casey Hudson himself said that indoctrination would play a big roll in ME3. Anything beyond that is speculation. Certainly, Shepard is more synthetic in ME2 than she was in ME1 and being hacked in Overlord can't be a good thing. If Shep has to fight off indoctrination, it would certainly make ME3 a more personal story and I'm all for that.

As for Shia'la being cured of indoctrination some have commented that it was the Thorian spores that cured her, but that theory may be a bit flimsy. It could be that Shia'la wasn't around Sovereign long enough to be fully indoctrinated and she just "got better." My guess is we will probably never know for sure how it happened.

and, btw Jennifer Hale is now on Twitter. https://twitter.com/#!/jhaletweets

it makes sense.shia'la was probably more focus in her duty to benezia.the reason i'm raising this subject is that: is the ability to indoctrinate the major difference between what constitutes reaper technology(along the path that we desire:citadel,mass relays) and what constitutes reaper artifacts ...do mass effect novels or comics clarify that?

I don't think Shepard will have to fight herself becoming indoctrinated. The trial is several months after the end of Arrival, indoctrination can take days or weeks depending on how strong the person is. But I see the possibly of close friends facing that and Shepard having to make a terrible choice. Maybe a race to stop the Reapers before the indoctrination is complete on that person. No Reapers, no indoctrination, right? However, I do think Shepard is going crazy. From the beacon, what contact she has had with the Reapers, and general stress from the war.

Overlord set off a LOT of alarm bells for me.  So far ME hasn't made a lot of distinction between "indoctrination" and "hacking" when it comes to more synthetic targets like the Geth, so I'm not entirely sure what Shepard's deal will be in ME3.  Maybe it depends on whether her upgrades were made with Reaper tech?  If ME was more like a tabletop RPGs, there could be something like indoctrination points that have a negative effect on Shepard's willpower or something.

I never thought of that.  Has it been so long since I D&D'd?  ;)

Then again, Shep wouldn't have the bio-synthetic fusion if TIM wasn’t such an impatient douche. Cerberus fails again.

I did post a spoiler (of sorts) in the blank post up above. It doesn't spoil anything specific, but I put it in invis-o-text just to be on the safe side.

They had better make Shepard's partly-synthetic nature a huge part of the story in ME3. It's the only way they can salvage any kind of meaning from the Lazarus Project. And given the evidence we've seen in Overlord, and in Arrival (with Harbinger's "hologram" appearing without any holoprojector), I think that is the case.

I hope that is the case.
