If ME was more like a tabletop RPGs, there could be something like indoctrination points that have a negative effect on Shepard's willpower or something.

I never thought of that.  Has it been so long since I D&D'd?  [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/wink.png[/smilie]

If I ever get around to writing another crack fic, I'd like to do one where Shepard tries to get the squad to play some kind of tabletop RPG.

I don't think Shepard will have to fight herself becoming indoctrinated. The trial is several months after the end of Arrival, indoctrination can take days or weeks depending on how strong the person is. But I see the possibly of close friends facing that and Shepard having to make a terrible choice. Maybe a race to stop the Reapers before the indoctrination is complete on that person. No Reapers, no indoctrination, right? However, I do think Shepard is going crazy. From the beacon, what contact she has had with the Reapers, and general stress from the war.

I don't think that Shepard will be going crazy...

anyone going through what shepard endured, would have died (she did die),gone crazy or endoctrinated.the combination of her being strong minded, the cypher and the visions from the beacon, will make her break the reapers' cycle of harvest/destruction.the question for me is how severe will consequences from lazarus project and other "exposures"be,before things get better.

I'm going to spoil something from ME3, (it's not from the current Microsoft Beta/Story SNAFU), but it is a spoiler of sorts.  Invis-o-text to be safe: In the New Yorker magazine w/ Jenn Hale, they said that Shep will not become "war weary."  Hale actually asked Mac Walters if Shep was "tired of fighting."  Mac said, "We tried that w/ Mark (Meer) and we got feedback that it sounded too whiney." Shep will still be more human.

Moar pulled back Tiia.

Squeezing everything out of the game. Damn... Technically that means I should do another screenshot run with classy look.

For comparison:

No texture lod tweaks: http://www.abload.de...02-2114cvdw.png
Tweaks: http://www.abload.de...10-3123m5f9.png

Clear difference in Shepard's and Kaidan's outfit.

Tiia is as good looking as always Tup!

BTW - what tweaks have you used to get ME1 looking that damn good?? I've tried playing around in the ini files but never gotten it looking this good.

For reference, I have an AMD (ATI) Radeon HD5770 1GB, i5-2500, 16GB RAM so guessing maybe I need to set some things in Catalyst CC.

Cheers!

Thanks!

Basically the fact that you have AMD card means that you can't force ambient occlusion, which makes pretty large difference. I'm forcing 8xMSAA, 4xTrSSAA and ambient occlusion (quality mode) via NVIDIA CP. Rest is via tweaking the ini. I can send you my config if you're interested.

*Back to installing playing BF3*

Thx for that Tup - have messaged you about this :)

Well, this was not really a competition who's right or wrong, but like you just said, if it had been different in that Shepard was indoctrinated or insane, then it would not have been like it was still Shepard that made the decisions.
Decisions are what made this series so great and immersive in the first place.

To get purely technical, Shepard has been indoctrinated since stepping onto the Normandy SR-1. Unless BioWare really railroads us into a story line, Shepard will largely remain player indoctrinated/enslaved as before. No amount of stress/exposure to reaper tech/indoctrination devices/beacons/cyphers will change how we marionette/RP our Shepards in ME3.

Yes, this is a purposely obtuse post, but it's to prove that no matter the shortcomings in the ME story, both past and feared future ones, can be overcome by headcanon. If they (BW) drop the ball as far as the things mentioned above (Shep's state of mind/cybernetics/hackability) in ME3, we can compensate. Just like I have headcanon where both my Sheps told Liara to eff off for the LotSB DLC (but her becoming the SB anyway; I don't really like paying for DLC especially content I cannot abide by even if it were free), so I can 'gloss' over other problems with ME3, I suspect.

I'd be well surprised if we got a Hale with a brittish accent and comments dripping from sarcasm. Honestly that would amuse the hell out of me, whiney be damned.

May be scarce for a while, but as long as there are no spoilers in here I'm fine.  The rest of the BSN, though...

I recaptured my favorite screenshot in huge format and with high res texture goodness.  <3

This is Emily Wong reporting for Citadel News Net. Zaeed Massani, the famous mercenary, body was found in the jungles of Zorya this morning. His neck was broke, spine severed in four piece. Zorya's law enforcement are ruling it an accident...

Uhm, Bastila? Or the original MGS version of Naomi Hunter (they changed her accent to American in MGS:TS and MGS4).

Question for you guys: Paragon or Renegade, what sets your Shepard off? Even the whitest Paragons get mad at something. Fiery Renegades have something that makes them explode of anger. What is it?

Slavery is a major thing that gets Zody fired up. Whether it's slavers grabbing colonist, Archer using his brother as a way to control the Geth, or indoctrination. That crap doing fly with Little Z.

I usually try to make a dominating trait for my Sheps but I never keep it all the way. Lia, Lena, Erisi, Naomi - they've all shocked Sergeant Cathka, simply because not doing so is a bad tactical decision.

Lia's from Mindoir so anything to do with slavery or mercs acting superior tends to set her off. She might not get physically violent in every situation but she'll make them think she is. "What sound will you make when you hit the ground? Think you'll hear it before you die?" She likes putting the fear of God into people like that. She also always blasts the Clan Weyrloc Speaker because the guy is just ranting about how he's going to murder a bunch of people.

Basically - with Lia it's if you're trying to get ahead by putting others down in one way or another, she's gonna get pissed. Nassana Dantius might see her war face but the poor worker would see this instead:

Image IPB

Lena's got a bit more of a dark streak to her and will be harsher in her tone to more people but she'd still help someone being harassed, like the Quarian falsely accused by the Volus, because she hates people hiding behind "respectability". She's had to carry Torfan with her for years, and she hates herself for it, and hates the people who use it as a job qualification even more. So she's more than likely to react violently if people try to tell her what's "right".

Holly Shepard is a pretty cool customer. I'd say she gets a slight righteous anger going when innocents are put in danger, however.

Example A:

On a more personal and emotional level, she has developed far closer relationships and friendships during the events of ME2. She is rather protective of her boys in particular.  Messing with them would be unhealthy.

Aki has pretty much the same trigger. She was a whiter-than-white Paragon in my ME1 canon playthrough and her only renegade points came from shooting Charn - he said "slave grab" and she just stopped thinking. It was interesting doing X57 much earlier than I would usually do, because it really worked in character terms - although Ash held her own, Kaidan kept getting taken out in that fight. That went into my head-canon as Aki making even more effort than usual to talk first and shoot second (Ethan Jeong, for example) thereafter because she felt guilty over her loss of control resulting a week in the medbay for a squadmate.
