This is where Ember's mindset comes in: she still feels like she's part of a gang. Gangs will sometimes work together against an even bigger gang or the cops, but they're always looking for a chance to stab each other in the back.
Toombs, although initially hating her, will eventually see that she hates them all the more and really only used the Cerberus connections to get the job done/scope out how they work so said backstab would be even more damaging.
What I'm trying to say is: Ember won't do a damn thing to change Toomb's opinion, but her actions will eventually do it for her.

Speaking of Ilos, the night before was surprisingly un-romantic really. Kaidan was such a wet blanket, talking, talking, talking, that she had to ask him to stay the night. Even then he wouldn't shut up until she forced him to (you can't talk with your mouth full). What the hell was he doing in her cabin in the first place? You know... Why did he come? I don't know if it'll (the relationship) last much past being spaced, let alone as long as Horizon. That better be one eloquent email.

One of my favorite conversation in ME 2 is the one Femshep had with the Shaman on Tuchanka. I of course picked renegade options during that exchange. Right after the headbutt, Shepard smiled when he mention her passion for war, combat... ( that is for me her most sincere smile ) i felt a real connection between the 2 of them.
