except a draft of the plot. I think they've choked back even more after the leaks.

When your fans get more excited at leaked footage of your game than what you've actually shown, then something is definitely wrong with the way you're marketing said game. It goes without saying that the marketing team has and never had any idea as to what they want to do.

I'm done chasing a ******* mirage.

I'm talking about the files that pissed everyone off. They upset more than excited and people started ****ing at the devs on various media's. sounds like they're cracking the whip.Posted Image

How did you come up with the name of your Shepard?

First, I went through goddesses, like you do.  Almost went with Lilith and made one run with an Ishtar, but ended up naming her after a telescope.  ...unintentionally, but it fit, so.

My Shepard is named for a Character from the Movie "The Sixth Day".
You know, the chick who constantly changes her hair color, she was named "Talia".

playing with all those sheps for the vid has ruined me! i can't make one as nice.

Which means less spoilers.

To be honest, i don't need any more material to become more excited, cause my excitement is already at maximum anyway.

I got to quote this just because this is exactly what i'm thinking. I'm all good with excitment and my interest in ME3 is big.

To be honest i never really cared about it. The emphasis had to be put on all the in game content as far as femshep is concerned: more cc options, better haircuts, better textures, better animations and better gender support throughout the entire game. Don't get me wrong: I want more marketing for femshep; i just didn't like the one in place because it is clearly not adressed to us hardcore fans. To me the whole point has always been to keep casual fans onboard and potentially attract new ones. From the generic femshep new appearances, to the voting on the hair, they clearly took the safest option, faced with the fact that they failed to reach a certain demographic because of a lack of gender distinction in their marketing strategy. I can then see why from their standpoint it is not a priority, although i think it should be. We just gonna have to be even more patient.

I think I'm the only one who is only mildly disappointed. The longer they wait for the trailer the more longer, bigger, epicer (yes epicer is a word, shut-up) it can be. Before it could only be a teaser trailer because they couldn't release to much footage. Look at ME2 teaser trailer with Legion wearing Shepard's armor vs. the Heart of Courage launch trailer.

I'm going to go ahead and guess they are going to release the trailer when they release the demo. Any longer and it will be the launch trailer. And they won't make the launch trailer the femshep trailer because that would simply be to awesome. Then again they might release duel launch trailers. One Sheploo, on Femshep... hmmm.... Sorry just thinking out loud here.

What would be a typical girl name in Finland?

It varies from decade to decade but here are some current statistics:

Top ten (2011 and basically the same in 2010):
Maria
Sofia
Emilia
Olivia
Aino
Amanda
Matilda
Helmi
Aurora
Ilona

All time top ten:
Maria
Helena
Johanna
Anneli
Kaarina
Marjatta
Anna
Liisa
Annikki
Hannele

Most common names are rather standard stuff. The ones that aren't in top ten are more interesting in my opinion.

I'll choose between Ilona, Helmi and Aino and try to build acharacter around the name. I already know that she will be blond/dark brown hair with blue eyes(don't know what shade of blue); earthborn/ruthless. I'll see where it takes me.

Sure no problem, you can use sites like deviantart.com to upload art to. I recommend that site because it copyrights your stuff as soon as you upload it. Every level of artists have been known to post there. Professional concept artist and comic book artist to the average Joe. You can link what you drew to your post here by using [img*]www.yourlinkhere.com[/img*] minus the * of course.

Well, I finally made a renegade femshep that I like. Omg, I spent forever in the CC. Course, I was trying to work with some really non-standard features that did not want to play nice with me. anyhow:

How did you come up with the name of your Shepard?

All my Shepards are a reaction against my own terribly boring, all-too-common name, Ashley- although I am happy I share kinship with someone in a ME game. :D

My canon Shep, Kyrah, comes from the name Kyra- a character who I really loved in The Chronicles of Riddick. I also thought the name sounded beautiful. Upon researching the name, I soon found out the name has connotations of "leader of the people" in Russian, and "Beam of light" in Persian, which I feel is rather fitting for a character like Shepard.

I'll quote some of my backstory to illustrate how my adept came to be named Ara. She and her younger sister lived in one of the worst neighborhoods of London,  which, obviously, was not the best environment for her younger sister to grow up in. It was then when she made the most difficult decision of her life- she decided to send her sister off on a transport to Mindoir, where a distant "relative" lived. After sending her sister off, Ara felt like she needed to close the book on her past. She needed a new name. It just so happened that the the first street sign she found was Paradise Walk”, but the neon was burned out except for the “a”, “r”, “a”. Ara.

Before the events of Mindoir, my vanguard was known as Nikole (or Niki to her friends), but after, she forbid anyone to use that name in reference to her, instead choosing to be known as Nikita- "unconquerable"/ "victory of the people". Very fitting for the only (known) survivor of Mindoir.

My engineer Kerrigan is actually a homage to Sarah Kerrigan of Starcraft fame, as well, although they don't really share any personality traits other than their brilliant tactician/ calculating mind. I also appreciated that "Kerrigan" can mean "dark/ dusky", which is fitting for her character.

Finally, my Soldier Shep is named Rhiannon, which is a goddess of horses in Welsh mythology. Her parents are very well-known in the Alliance, and very pro-humanity- a trait transferred to their daughter. The name Rhiannon is very historically rooted, and thus I felt it was a good fit for a person raised in such an Earth-first environment.

...aaand I still don't have a real solid idea for my infiltrator. Does anyone else have crazy plans to complete before ME3? My goal is to have 6 FemSheps from every class, and 2 DudeSheps. I still have to create my infiltrator and my 2 DudeSheps,  and I have a feeling I want to redo Ara's playthough so she's not a Liaramancer... *sigh* So much to do.

I'm interested to see the result. ;)
By the way,
Ilona: ilo = joy; ilona is essive case of 'ilo'.
Helmi: helmi = pearl.
Aino: comes most likely from word 'ainoa' which means 'only'. Aino is also one girl in Kalevala.

I kinda did that too both my Shepards have the same background and are seperated by their reputation, one takes an incidental trip to Elysium while the other waits years before being assigned to task force attacking Torfan. I just made the bitter ass kicking renegade first!

I like irish names, so most of my Shepards have them (MacKenzie, Erin, Trista, Aislinn, Moira, etc.)

The others I just kind of thought up, or my friends named them. My other Engineer, River, was named by Ottemis. Some I changed several times before I was happy. Once I get a feel for the character, I tend to have an easier time deciding on a name.

Have faith young padawan.
We don't seem to be any less anxiously expecting it.
I know I've seen enough to have been hyped for months now.
But then I'm a proper fangirl; a Bioware ontop of a Mass Effect one, they can't really go wrong on this one for me.

I tend to give characters names from Greek mythology. For females, depending on the game and the character, I usually go for Artemis (goddess of the hunt) or Athene (goddess of wisdom) or Atalanta (another huntress, this one a mortal). Their names suggest their attributes and how I play them. You can probably guess which one is an artist with a sniper rifle.

If I feel they need a backstory about it, it's either that they dreamed of living up to their namesakes while growing up, or they adopted the name because of who they are... With Artemis Shepard, its the former.

(Aside: there exists another Artemis, this one in Saints Row the Third, which has a pretty good character creator itself. Haven't managed to get good pictures yet, but you can see her here)
