How did you come up with the name of your Shepard?
All my Shepards are a reaction against my own terribly boring, all-too-common name, Ashley- although I am happy I share kinship with someone in a ME game.

My canon Shep, Kyrah, comes from the name Kyra- a character who I really loved in The Chronicles of Riddick. I also thought the name sounded beautiful. Upon researching the name, I soon found out the name has connotations of "leader of the people" in Russian, and "Beam of light" in Persian, which I feel is rather fitting for a character like Shepard.
I'll quote some of my backstory to illustrate how my adept came to be named Ara. She and her younger sister lived in one of the worst neighborhoods of London, which, obviously, was not the best environment for her younger sister to grow up in. It was then when she made the most difficult decision of her life- she decided to send her sister off on a transport to Mindoir, where a distant "relative" lived. After sending her sister off, Ara felt like she needed to close the book on her past. She needed a new name. It just so happened that the the first street sign she found was Paradise Walk”, but the neon was burned out except for the “a”, “r”, “a”. Ara.
Before the events of Mindoir, my vanguard was known as Nikole (or Niki to her friends), but after, she forbid anyone to use that name in reference to her, instead choosing to be known as Nikita- "unconquerable"/ "victory of the people". Very fitting for the only (known) survivor of Mindoir.
My engineer Kerrigan is actually a homage to Sarah Kerrigan of Starcraft fame, as well, although they don't really share any personality traits other than their brilliant tactician/ calculating mind. I also appreciated that "Kerrigan" can mean "dark/ dusky", which is fitting for her character.
Finally, my Soldier Shep is named Rhiannon, which is a goddess of horses in Welsh mythology. Her parents are very well-known in the Alliance, and very pro-humanity- a trait transferred to their daughter. The name Rhiannon is very historically rooted, and thus I felt it was a good fit for a person raised in such an Earth-first environment.
...aaand I still don't have a real solid idea for my infiltrator. Does anyone else have crazy plans to complete before ME3? My goal is to have 6 FemSheps from every class, and 2 DudeSheps. I still have to create my infiltrator and my 2 DudeSheps, and I have a feeling I want to redo Ara's playthough so she's not a Liaramancer... *sigh* So much to do.
