though yeah, a great lot of potential was wasted. but i think they learned from their mistakes
and you may flare me for it, but the last part of Prequel trilogies had a lot more emotion that all three original episodes. Original Star Wars wasn't exactly a Hamlet. if you're looking for depth you should go with Blade Runner or even Alien Series example

i am quite hopeful for ME3 though.

Why does everyone think that Jacob objectifies femshep? his "the Prize" line wasn't callign her a prize, but refering to him just wanting to spend time with her "i just want all the time I can get" and post suicide mission he doesn't waste time with words because they can't describe how he feels for her. (since with certain lins of dialouge he admits having fallen in love with her.)Giggles_Manically wrote...
I think that Jacob got that kiss since the devs thought that he would be the most popular romance for females in ME2.
I am a guy, but hell I feel objectified when Jacob was talking to my femShep.

yeah. i think this was why - for me - of the ME2 romances, the Tali one made the most sense. it was built into the actual structure of the story: you run into her, she helps, then leaves. you save her, you help her, she was around from before, etc.
garrus' had promise, esp. with the recruitment - the loyalty mission was epic, but the actual "romance" dialog made me think, really? like, that's it? no wonder so many fanfics abound trying to fix that. ME1, truly, had more romance alongside the narrative. even for all the sadness of horizon and what happened to liara, me2 made me like the me1 romances better. they just had more weight
Garrus has that personality that's just fun to be around. He's kind of a proper stiff, but his reactions to Shepard's antics are what make him enjoyable. To me, he makes more sense as a close friend and colleague. I'd never dream of romancing him.
Thane: Sorry, I have trouble with that serpentine mug he's fronting. He's a cool cat; I've got nothing against his personality. My Shepard would simply rather space herself than bed a dude who has that whole snake face thing happening. That's a healthy dose of disturbing imagery I really don't want to explore.
Jacob: The guy is famous for his "I can't be bothered to try, but I'll gladly take whatever comes my way" attitude. He really knows how to make a lady feel like the prize at the bottom of a box of cereal, I'll give him that much. I've drawn a line down the center of the armory. We're cool as long as he doesn't cross it.

Rather, FemShep objectifies Jacob. Everytime my Shep talked to him, I watched in horror as she turned into this dreadful, sex kittenish thing and every line became an innuendo. It was horrible to watch; somewhere along the line I gave up on talking to Jacob.

So who DID your Jane romance, Tighue?
Nobody!
hehe
Okay, okay. I confess: that fanfic I referred to earlier made the case for Kaidan. I've reloaded my old ME 1 career and given Shepard orders to jump Alenko. Oh yeah, and to stop Saren again.

For my own Jane in ME1, I felt there was no one I was really getting into to consider a relationship. I still felt compelled to romance Kadian or Liara, and I arbitrarily went with the former. In ME2, however, there is someone named Thane Krios. 'Nuff said.
you'd better do it with a single Shep *shakes fist*
anyway, i recently found that i like unromanced Kaidan a lot better. he's such a great guy, really, and i really want him as my XO. that would make my Shepэы life a lot easier, not worrying about fighting squadmates and all

This basically. Jacob was interesting before things transitioned to the Normandy. I felt like I had to keep my Shepard from tossing her unmentionables at him every time I initiated a conversation. My inner monologue during my first play through went something like: "Woah! Back up, back up. beep, beep. Who's playing this game?"
Based on what I've seen of the youtube videos out there, I'm not inclined to feel as though I've missed out on anything.

@Mash, yes, Kaidan is an all around great guy. In fact, his romance wasn't bad at all. I simply wasn't actually interested in him is all. He also was my MaleShep's best friend, before he had to be sacrificed on the cursed planet that is Virmire.

I must agree on this. I couldn't even sit through the youtube video. And it isn't even really Jacob's fault - I heard he's actually quite cool if you're playing as MShep. Poor thing must be wondering why my FemShep avoids the Armory like the plague.

ooooh i hate Virmire sooo much
romance was great, just as all ME1 romances, but i just discovered a way not to romance Kaidan while not missing on good dialogues with him. that was a major revelation and made me respect him even more. it also reminded that friendship paths were mostly nonexistent in ME2. le sigh
