I'm playing ME1 for the first time and my FemShep has now heard about Akuze from, I guess, everyone. They bring it up like it's a contest she won at school last week. She even is kind to Conrad Verner and Harkin because at least they don't bring up Akuze. Her opinion of it is just what she said to Jenkins: "I don't like to talk about it." Well, no one cares. She's now thinking about running through the Citadel shouting, "Look at me! I'm the heroine of Akuze!" until everyone else is as fed up as she is about it.

To the three of us not playing swtor yet, what does your FemShep think of being famous?
My Kyrah doesn't react very well to it. AT ALL. After the events of Akuze, there were many who questioned her sanity, and her ability to go on as a soldier. She was angered (and deep down, incredibly hurt) by that sentiment, which led her to distrust the media as a whole (READ: Miss Al'Jilani.) At best, she is cool with the press, but when provoked with personal questions, she can become incredibly fiery. Post Sovereign's attack on the Citadel, I RP her as being bombarded with interview, memoir, and endorsement requests, but she escaped them by ending her shore leave early on the Citadel and beginning her new mission. She did this also to protect her relationship with Kaidan.

I am not convince that she is famous ( or may be infamous ); but i think she is well known where she needs to be well known. Bringing up Akuze is an attempt from people who gravitate around her to get in her inner circle - she is such an intriguing woman - and generally a bad idea: No malicious intent but a clear exercise of poor judgment. While Katherine hates it when it is brought up, she is also aware that she hasn't seen the worst of it ( Akuze or tragedy in general ). For a long time she felt like dwelling on her bad fortune; until she met survivors from similar events ( Ashley; Eden Prime survivors )...and it did help her put everything in perspective. The pain is still acute, but caring for other people in similar situations makes her load a little easier to carry ( and quite frankly doesn't give her much time to reflect on it ).drwells123 wrote...

She is not too worried about "fame" cause it can't follow her where real battles are fought. Reality of war usually trumps any glamour attempt.

Glad to see mine isn't the only one. Also hadn't even thought of people reacting to Akuze that way (I guess because such a reaction is so much more obvious with Mindoir and Torfan). I find it ironic that she's bombarded with comments about Akuze and yet unable to read Miranda or Jacob the riot act about it (even when sitting in Miranda's office telling her what's wrong with Cerberus).
I see the same thing happening after the Citadel. Her first reaction upon finding out she's been gone for two years might actually be relief that people will have forgotten her. Rise Above or Sink Below is a pretty good fic dealing with some of the same issues you mention (i.e. FemShep, after the Citadel attack. is racked with guilt over the people she's lost, which is made worse by relentless tabloid media exposure).

Exactly, it tends to feel like an insensitive attempt at ingratiation. And maybe that's what was intended, though it seems like some of them (say, Emily Wong) should know better.

That all seems pretty sensible and well-adjusted. I'd have trouble making drama out of it

I hate to make it sound like it's a resolve issue; It is more like a process that has to be evaluated and questioned on a daily basis.

Sarah dislike it greatly. She sure don't think of herself as a hero, the real heroes to her are the ones that died defending what they belived in and the Alliance. For Sarah Elysium is on big bloody failure. But dealing with the people that died there isn't hard, the part that annoys her is that reporters and the media never, ever let go of what happened and at every possible chance they want an interview with the great hero of the Skyllian Blitz. Media loves Sarah and Sarah dislikes media. So far no incidents have happened between them but there's just so much you can push Sarah until she snap at you and media really play with fire. What most annoys her is that the media want to talk about the ones that died or her bravery and by doing so digging up feelings and thoughts that she burried as deep as possible just because she don't want to go through that again and certainly not when the Alliance need her in top shape. Sarah also do quite a lot of missions where her fame can make the mission harder so she very much appreciate when someone else is in the spotlight for a second

Jane doesn't like to be famous but at the same time she likes it. Yep. That's because of her personality. She always wants something. But once she gets this, it ceases to be interesting for her. That happens very often.
Jane belives she deserves some respect, but she doesn't consider herself a hero. There are others who deserve to be called heroes. Like her friends and squadmates who didn't survive on Akuze, or Ashley, or thoseAlliance soldiers who died when Soverign attacked the Citadel. Or Admiral Steven Hackett and Councillor David Anderson. These people are heroes for Jane.

She doesn't really think about it. She never wanted to be famous and she would rather be behind the scenes than in the spotlight. Being famous makes her feel more insecure.drwells123 wrote...

Talia is not quite comfortable with being famous, she did her job on Elysium, and it left a sour taste in her mouth towards the batarians.
Sometimes fame can come in handy for a few fan-discounts in stores on the Citadel, but for the most part, she'd rather not be famous.

Lili doesn't really like it, especially when people come to her because she is well known, they end up bringing up things that happened in her past that bother her or her relationship with Garrus. To one she gets emotional about, to the other she doesn't care how the galaxy views her. Oh, and she hates the press, though the store discounts com in handy alot of the time. Though she still hates being famous. (does that make any sense?)
As for the MAKO, well...

Lili: So when I died, the MAKO kinda died as well and got frozen over. And I don't have to drive it any more.
Miranda: Well yes but-
Lili: F*CK YES! I HATED THAT PIECE OF CRAP!
Miranda: You still have to drive the HammerHead, commander.
Lili:....sh*t. I'm gonna die again.
(Tali and Garrus can be heard screaming from the decks below at the news of Lili driving again)
