Why is this, mash? Explain your worries. I'm sure that the other romances will receive satisying conclusions.

My romance with Ashley will be fine, that I'm sure of. However, my Jane is stuck with Thane -- desperately so. And that's where the problem is.LesEnfantsTerribles wrote...

Oh, don't worry! I doubt that any instance of Thane succumbing to Kepral's will be mandatory. No way. There will be a means to cure him, I'm sure of it.
What worries me is that he will only be cured if he is romanced...that would suck. I'd want Thane to survive in my canon.

oh no, that won't happen. it's like suggesting that Kaidan and Ashley will be their own characters again and not each other's doppelgangers

You're welcome! This may sound odd, but I'd love it if we're shown the extent of which Ashley or Kaidan have been mourning Shepard's death, similar to Liara's LotSB content. In the retail version of ME2, I dislike how Shepard's death is trivialised, and how characters seemingly do not react to it. With LotSB, we're at last shown how Shepard's death affected her friend/lover on a deep emotional level. This pain and grief is touched upon on Horizon, but I'd love to see it explored in greater detail in a hypothetical Alliance DLC.
Shepard needs all of her ME1 romances reconciled!

Thane is by far my favorite male love interest (followed by Kaidan). As awesome as he is, he's got this obstacle called Kepral's Syndrome, which I hope doesn't turn out to be more than what it's worth.
Agreed...like I said above, I hope that Thane's survival is not dependant on romance. I'd hate that. Thane is a good friend to my Shepard, and she'd hate to see him die.
I'm sure that there will be some way to cure him, though.

It is a concern, but I am confident that Ashley and Kaidan will remain unique characters, and will not become a singular, interchangeable entity. Admittedly, Horizon does not inspire confidence, but I'd wait until the writing of their characters is a focal point of any content, like a VS DLC or ME3.

Cheer up, Mash. I predict a happy ending for all characters in true space opera fashion. Thane will be cured. FemShep will get her own animations. Life will be good.

I agree. I love Jennifer Hale's delivery of Shepard's "Did you say two years? I've been gone that long?" line, but that's about it in terms of Shepard's death affecting her in any way.
At least LotSB allowed Shepard to lower her emotional barriers, and confide in Liara. I loved how my Shepard displayed some emotional vulnerability. Makes her seem more "human".

I do agree that LOTSB added something valuable to Shepard in ME2. But on the other hand I find the lack of Shepard's emotions in the rest of ME2 quite fitting.LesEnfantsTerribles wrote...

That is a good line, but I rarely pick it because if you talk to Jacob on Lazarus station he's already told you it took two years to rebuild Shepard. Short term memory loss?
I also loved that exchange between Liara and Shepard. It was nice to have some dialogue that fleshed out how Shepard was feeling. Gets a little closer to actually RP'ing Shepard than most dialogue choices in the game. You get a glimpse of her internal motivations. Being able to say "Yeah I'm frustrated" or "I'm fighting for Garrus" really went a long way towards making her my Shepard.
I'm not too put out by Shepard not being affected by her death though. I'm sure she's got some internal emotional turmoil but she's not the kind of person to let it affect her duty or let it affect those around her. I think that's why she's such an effective leader and inspires confidence.

Not odd at all. I'd love to see all of this explored in a possible DLC or at least in ME3, but I'm not too hopeful. It was nice to at least admit to Liara how Shepard really felt. The same should be possible for Shepard and Kaidan or Ashley - they need it.
