Would be nice if the option was given, that way at least you could RP your Shepard that way.  Another instance of us being railroaded into one of those default Shepard personality traits.  I don't remember which interview it was from, but they said Shepard will always be a defined person, even though we can make choices in how the story plays out.  Shepard is always their Shepard.  If that makes sense.

well, maybe. it's their choice of course, but LotSB clearly demonstrated how thy can do things so much better, i'm not trying to argue, i actually defend ME2 most of the time, but some things are just baaad. Horizon. Liara's reaction on Illium. the orst part was playing Sole Survivor. i RP'd as best as i could, but it still didn't feel right at all.



i'm gonna stop right here and think of Atton. for science and profit

i prefer to think not. it's a deep respect, but nothing of romantic sort. 

i feel the same way when people suggest that Liara has some 'big obsessive crush' on non-romanced Shepards. it just feels like cheapening the characters. i wouldn't want the whole galaxy to be in love with protagonist.

so my answer is no, but i know a lot of people like to think that every single person is in love with Shepard

Yeah, they used that to justify why MaleShepard can't be gay.

Though, this does seem to be the case.  We can make small choices that affect the flavor of the game world, but are more or less railroaded into one path.  For starters, all Shepards have to work for Cerberus in ME2 and accept it as necessary.

Oh, I agree. Shepard should not break down constantly regarding her death, and become a total and utter emotional wreck. However, I do think that the opportunity to express frustration or uncertainty over everything that has happened to her would be welcome.



I absolutely loved the first romance conversation with Liara in the Hotel Azure. We actually see that Shepard is hurt, and that she wants to discuss her relationship with Liara. I liked that.



Whenever I want to RP my Shepard experiencing emotional difficulties, Kasumi's bar is put to great use. XD

Yes, this is true :P

But I agree with you...I don't like thinking that the entire crew is madly in love with my Shepard.  I think some are attracted to her (like Kelly always stares at her bum when she's standing up at the Galaxy Map) but not madly in love with her.

Liara is madly in love with my Shepard, but they have a 'thing' going on.

Indeed, although Shep does mention or give a subtle hint on occasion, just not very often(eg. once or twice when talking to Kelly - "I've been through a lot too, I could use some of you therapy right now")

I just want some sort of emotion.

In the beginning of ME1, Richard Jenkins told me I'd make a good Spectre because of Akuze. I had the ability to answer him, "I prefer not to think about Akuze."

Now, I do love ME2. Really. I love the cinematics, the dialogue, the characters, the gameplay, the music, the whole doomed atmosphere...but after replaying ME1, and redoing quests and comparing the stories, some things just do not make sense.

Shepard doesn't need a huge emotional breakdown, whether FemShep or MShep. I just want her to acknowledge that, "hey, I don't like how it seems every single bloody person is expecting me to save their a**es, as well as the universe." Joining Cerberus makes sense for renegades, but for sole survivors, with no ability to get enraged at Cerberus? And Horizon? Erg. I just don't like how it seems in the game Shepard passively accepts everything that is asked of her, and passively accepts working for Cerberus.

LotSB did remedy that. I loved being able to tell Liara, "I'm frustrated," and the ensuing dialogue fit my FemShep's feelings perfectly. I loved that frustrated emotion Hale conveyed. And I love that Liara asked. I just want acknowledgement that my Shepard is human and not a brave, strong, stereotypical hero like in legends or LotR.

Sorry for the rant. But other than that, I do love ME2. Most things.

Yeah, I don't like the idea of Shepard having a galaxy of groupies. xD With that said though, it's obvious that Kelly has a thing for her but my Shepard has never been attracted to her. Last time I played, I did like the idea of Miranda developing a crush on Shep. I like the conversations they have especially when Miri says she is "engineered" to be perfect and Shepard just got to where she was by being an extraordinary person. Miri found herself to be attracted to that. : o Kathryn was completely clueless to that though and even if Miri told she had feelings, she would only want to be friends.

I agree with everything being said regarding Shepard in ME2. She was a bland character for most of it (outside of romance scenes). LotSB brought some humanity back to her and made her interesting again. I'm hoping they continue with this for other ME2 DLC and into ME3.

The few times in the game and its DLCs where Shep does show at least a hint of emotion, I much prefer they way Hale delivers those lines.

Agreed. I've listened to the cut Thane dialogue, and it's a shame that they prevent her from venting, and revealing the extent of her frustrations or anxieties.

I want my Shepard to be human. I want her to be unsure of herself on occasion. I enjoy characters like that, and find them to be extremely interesting. Until LotSB, I hated the fact that, Kelly aside, nobody asked my Shepard how she was feeling.

The thing about Thane is that he respects Shepard immensely; probably more so than the other LI's. He never really straight out admits that he's in love with her, except on one occasion where he says that he's come to care for her, at which point Shepard can return the affection to him. However, the romance scene itself proves that Thane is in fact in love with Shepard.

Exactly.  I loved the Liara DLC up to that point, but loved it a million times more when she went up to Shepard's cabin.  I don't think it's too much to ask to have the main character occasionally speak as though they have feelings, especially in the presence of close friends or love interests.  This is why my Shepard now hangs out with Liara all the time (since she's done every single N7 mission and DLC and has nothing to do but mine now).  She needs a good friend.

I now have cool Supersampling (4x4) on my graphics, and 16x Anisomorphic Filtering, plus I force extra high quality texture processing. Best seen in full view, of course:

Yay. :wizard:  As long as it works, it doesn't matter how! Personally I' happy with 4x AA with 8x transparency AA. Anyways, as long as FemShep has less jagged edges, that's fine. :D

Agreed, and I remain hopeful that the fact that Liara asks Shepard how she is feeling, and that Shepard confides in her is a result of numerous complaints that Shepard was too stoic, and too emotionally reserved in ME2. Accordingly, LotSB allows Shepard to show some emotional vulnerability at last, and lower her emotional barriers. As I said above, I like this, and it is something that players have been requesting for quite some time.

Interesting that Shepard seems saddened whenever Liara leaves, regardless of romance. She needs a friend. :(

I'm odd and can only play as brunette FemSheps for some reason.  Like, uber-brunette...the darkest hair color slider brunette.
