Never.

It's amazing how a simple "How are you?" can do.
EDIT: This is a post expressing my feelings about the Liara reconciliation.
Brilliantly well-written, Firey. I agree with your every word. Upon hearing Liara ask how Shepard was feeling, I got the impression that my Shepard was a human being with feelings, something that had been absent since the locker scene in ME1.
I do love that scene, and how Ashley, Kaidan or Liara would ask Shepard how they are feeling. Again, it makes her feel more "human".

They cut this one romance-driven line with Thane. Basically, if Thane is the love interest and he gets shot as Second Fire Team Leader during the suicide mission, he says "I hear it, a sea. You look so beautiful, my siha." before he dies. Of course, this was cut for no apparent reason.
nah, i was talking about the convo where he actually asks shep how is she feeling and etcetc

On the other hand, what kind of Thane romancer would allow him to get killed?

Nice post. It's amazing how so little goes a long way towards making Shepard feel more personalized and alive.
As much as I love ME2, ME1 was a much more personal experience IMO. ME2 was entertaining and fun but ME1 is what got me invested in the characters and the Universe. I'm definitely more attached to our original squaddies.

Well, as someone who is anti-Cerberus, I want at least one of my Shepards to be able to apologize to Kaidan for not expressing herself well on Horizon. The Shepard who got Tali out of being exiled with no evidence should have been able to tell Ashley or Kaidan more about what she was doing hanging out with a terrorist organization.
My renegade might get mad. Unless she really hurts his feelings. She may leave innocent factory workers to burn while helping a mercenary get revenge, but making people cry is just awkward.

Ugh, Horizon Shepard. I hate her so much.
I have abandoned Kaidan as a LI until I see how the storyline plays out. If we get some decent DLC or good resolution in ME3 I might go back and make a 'faithful' Shep. Maybe. Because that stupid Horizon scene will still have happened.
It's hard for me to rationalize the dialogue enough for it to make sense. "It's been a long time, Kaidan" WTH? They could have had better dialogue, more dialogue, and still had Shepard stay with Cerberus and Kaidan go back to the Alliance. Booooo.

None of my Shepards romanced either Ash or Kaidan, but are friends to them. Rachel Shepard is best friends with Ashley, and my pseudo-Renegade Shepard, though she hated Kaidan (and everyone else) in ME1, ironically started to respect him more after Horizon and his stance against Cerberus.

I think the point of Horizon was a nuke that relationship to hell, I wouldn't be surprised if Kaiden or Ashley were sent to bring Shepard in to be charged with treason or something in ME3. I can't even think of how a DLC would start, because my Shepard and Kaiden aren't exactly on speaking terms anymore and I'm done with both the Alliance, Cerberus and the Council for good. The majority of ME2 was designed to isolate Shepard and leave her easier to manipulate by Cerberus so that she would hand over the Collector Base so The Illusive Man could be a better intergalactic terrorist.

Well, Kaidan's (or Ash's) message after Horizon was an olive branch of sorts. But you only get it if you romanced him in ME1.
And, adneate, there are a million different ways how a DLC like that could start. If you're interested you could take a look at the Kaidan and Ashley DLC Wishlist thread (link is in my sig). (:

it's complicated, really, i don't understand these things myself, Fiery. it's not about certain romances, it's about what fits the character. and i love my first character the most

Horizon and Virmire are definitely my favourite places in the galaxy
What really irks me about how Ashley and Kaidan have been treated in both games is that they both were created to subvert gender roles -- the sensitive, reserved magic user and healer (a role usually reserved for female characters in games) who is concerned about Shepard's state of mind, is a man, while the tough, brutally honest warrior who will get in Shepard's face if he/she gives her a hard time, is a woman -- and then you have to choose to kill one on Virmire. So you're basically handing gamers who cannot stand "feminine" male characters or "masculine" female characters a way to violently get rid of them. I understand that the writers felt it would have more impact to kill off a potential love interest or a friend who has been with you from the beginning of the game, but many people took Virmire as an indictment of either or both Kaidan and Ashley...if the writers actually liked them, wouldn't they keep them alive?
Then on Horizon, they took on a role, that, frankly, could have been filled by a generic Alliance soldier, and made the two characters seem interchangable in their reaction to Shepard. Not only that, but it gave people who didn't ALREADY hate Kaidan and Ashley another reason to despise them, and new players were understandably peeved at this person they didn't know preaching at them. I honestly wonder at this point if the writers themselves dislike the characters and want to get rid of them, or give them another dissatisfying cameo in ME3.
As someone who loves strong, independent female characters, I REALLY didn't like having to sacrifice Ashley on Virmire to save Kaidan. If the Virmire Survivor's role in ME3 is similar to what they did in ME2, I'll feel even more that I'm being told that I was "wrong" to have cared for either character, and IMO, that's really bad storytelling.
I'd really like some sort of hint that I'm way off base here. So far, there hasn't been any clues that I am.

It's just a by-product of having multiple Shepard's. Nothing too weird about it.
Speaking of multiple Shepards.....
A few days ago, I played some more of Cecilia Shepard. She has gotten to the conversation where Thane talks about "Sunset eyes defiant in the scope".
