I used the Mass Effect Wiki biotics talk page discussion of Shepard's secondary eezo exposure for partial inspiration for Gwen's backstory:  http://masseffect.wi...ki/Talk:Biotics

Huh. I must have forgot that Biotic specific stuff in ME1 hardly anybody even mentions that Shepard is a Biotic, even other Biotics. Makes me wonder how Shepard even became an Officer, Spacers it would make sense for them to already be in a military academy but Colonists are orphaned at 16 and Earthers are from the very bottom of the social structure. Battlefield commission? Seems the easiest way to explain how they became an Officer, unless the Alliance doesn't require a University Degree to get a commission but it seems to be based off modern day Western style all-volunteer forces.

That being said Biotics is confusing in general . . .

Yup.  She did.  I wrote her a long-winded fan letter and you can read it on the previous page if you want.  Here's her response.  I'm still amazed that she took the time to reply back.

Thank you, peeps!

The offer is still standing for FemShep artists to help be the guinea pigs of a secret project I have been working on with Jlb and Les.  You don't have to do much at all.  PM me if interested, so I can give the details.

Edit:  I don't need any more artists for now.  I've got my hands full now.

ok can someone answer this, whenever i take a pic of a shep with a custom haircut:
Posted Image
it always looks bad with huge jaggies, but everyone elses pics seem nice and smooth, so how are you guys doing this? Is it a new, hi-rez haircut or are you guys forcing AA on? Or is it that the pics seem to be from cutscenes?

Intro stuff

Name: Jaye Shepard (formerly known as JD - what happens when staring at a bottle of Jack Daniel's while trying to come up with a character's name)

Background: Spacer/Sole Survivor

Alignment: Paragade (although prior to ME1, was a pure paragon.....Akuze changed all that)

class: Infiltrator

Favorite Combat Ability or Abilities: Incinerate, Tactical Cloak (for those "oh crap, I'm about to die!" moments), Reave as a bonus

Posted Image

Decisions, decisions, decisions....

ME1 Council: Saved them

The Rachni: Let the queen go so she could sing again

What happened on Feros?: Other than a few sore heads from being whacked with a pistol butt, all colonists fine. Shiala spared.

Virmire: Kaidan sacrificed, Wrex talked down (paving the way for his awesome greeting on Tuchanka)

Conrad Verner: He wanted to know what it was like to be a Spectre. She showed him. There were tears.

Noveria: Helped Gianna Parasini take down Anoleis.

Bring Down the Sky: Only managed to play once a long time ago due to some glitch with the DLC. Think hostages were spared

Anderson or Udina: Anderson.

ME2 and the Council: Was tempted to tell them where to go, but figured Spectre status could be useful

The Collector Base: Is no more. She despises TIM and his methods

Suicide Mission casualties: None

The Geth: Rewrote them.

Tali: Not exiled. Told off Admiralty Board for dragging Tali into their politics

Genophage cure data: Told Mordin to keep it

Overlord: David sent to Grissom Academy

Kasumi: Let her keep Keiji's greybox

Personal stuff

Romance: Liara in ME1 and ME2

Why Shepard and her LI are such a great match: Jaye and Liara both know what it's like to have pressure and high expectations heaped upon them from a young age (Jaye's parents expected great things from her - she found the pressure stifling at times). She loves the strength of will Liara showed in choosing her own path. While Shepard doesn't regret her decision to enlist, she sometimes wishes the decision had been solely hers to make (rather than a duty expected of her). She finds Liara's enthusiasm for the Protheans both endearing and infectious. Liara sees past the barriers Jaye put up after Akuze. She understands why she loses her cool on occasion and helps to keep her grounded. She loves her adventurous nature - despite some hair-raising (or the asari equivalent) moments in the Mako when Jaye drove, Liara couldn't resist sharing Shepard's enthusiasm for exploring various planets.

Best Friends: She considered Ashley to be her closest friend. Consequently, her reaction on Horizon, while completely understandable, still hurt her deeply. On the SR2, she can usually be found talking to Samara, whom she greatly respects. Sometimes she can also be found in the opposite observation room sharing a drink or three with Kasumi.

Personality: She's fundamentally a good-hearted person, however past events have left her with a hardened edge to her personality. Before Akuze she would always do everything by the book. Afterward, her resolve was shaken. She still believes in doing everything to protect the innocent. However, she doesn't always extend that courtesy to those she deems undeserving. She has a slightly troubled relationship with her mother (who is still trying to come to terms with her relationship with Liara). She has a dry sense of humour and a slight fear of spiders (dealing with the Rachni was more problematic than she would have liked).

Three fun facts: 1) Has been known to build illicet stills on ships she served on 2) Will challenge anyone to a game of poker 3) Enjoys sketching the flora and fauna of planets visited (and is the first to admit she's not very good.....but she doesn't care as it relaxes her)

NB. Currently halfway through a more detailed background for her. One of these days I'll manage to finish it, I hope.

Okay, so I really have enjoyed reading the bios, but I have a question to add to them:

What drove your femshep to become femshep? By that, I mean what is it that drove her to become the one who saved the galaxy - twice? Just dumb luck? Determination? With that is sort of the question of why did she continue on after dying. Anyhow, curious as to what made your femshep become the badass woman she is.

As to the first part of your question.... '****** and vinegar' pretty much sums it up. For her, failure Is Not An Option. She sees an objective in the distance, by god she's going to achieve it. Hack off her legs, and she'll walk on her arms. Hack off her arms, and she'll drag herself there with her teeth if she has to.
Plus, she really hates being called a liar. Or delusional. Or both. Honestly, I think the reason she was so rabid to prove the existence of the Reapers was mostly so that she could go "HA! IN YOUR FACE!" at the Council. X3

As for the second part (as to why she's still fighting, even after it got her killed)... there are two major reasons. The first and most obvious reason is that Cerberus went to enormous lengths to save her. She hates being in someone else's debt. So she considers helping them a fair trade (besides... yeah. Reapers. Galaxy in danger. Being turned into goo would suck).
Second reason is that if she stopped now -if she just ignored the threat of the Reapers and went on with her life- Ash would have sacrificed herself for nothing.
Shep doesn't need that kind of emotional baggage, at all.

Alternately, you could just read this.

I hope it's okay if I post my other Sheps info? Don't worry I only have the two. And I didn't make her face, just borrowed it from someone else.

Intro Stuff

Name: Nyla Shepard
Background: Colonist/War Hero
Alignment: She's a Paragade. She has a ruthless streak, but it is usually saved for the bad people.
class: Vanguard (I know I need to branch out)
Favorite Combat Ability or Abilities: Charge, all the way.

Decisions, decisions, decisions....

ME1 Council: Saved the council.
The Rachni: Let the Queen live.
What happened on Feros?: All colonists were saved and Shiala was spared.
Virmire: Ashely was sacraficed, Wrex lived.
Conrad Verner: She felt sorry for him, so she was overly nice to him.
Noveria: Helped Gianna Parasini.
Anderson or Udina: Anderson.
ME2 and the Council: Told the Council what they could do with their Spectre status.
The Collector Base: She blew it up.
Suicide Mission casualties: None at all.
The Geth: They were rewritten.
Tali: Yelled at the board, saved Tali from being exiled.
Genophage cure data: Kept the data.
Kasumi: Told Kasumi to destroy the greybox.

Personal stuff

Romance: No one in ME1 and Thane in ME2.
Why Shepard and her LI are such a great match: Thane gets her. Knows that her methods might not always be the 'best' route, but she is there to make a difference and is really sweet. Deep, deep inside.
Best Friends: Was never really close with anyone in the first one. She also didn't "plan" on getting close to anyone in ME2. She was there to do a job and that's it. However Thane got to her, so did Miranda. So her best friends would be those two.
Personality: Ultimately she's a decent person, she just has extreme measures to get the job done sometimes. Sometimes she feels that it's better to just be a little nasty and get results then to be too soft to spare someones feelings. She is good hearted though. She'll save innocent people, but if you are one of the bad guys you better watch out because she has no qualms taken them down by any means nessacary.
Three fun facts: 1. Is afraid to get close to people (ok not really a fun fact) 2. Loves to knit, although she won't let anyone on the ship know that. It helps her keep calm. 3. Also enjos kickboxing. Lets her aggressions out.

(P.S. - @ Iw: though that's cool if he's not Kira's cup of black coffee, no sugar, i just have to point out that kaidan does swear - a lot. it makes me laugh every time he does. okay, done with that slight OT point. ;))

He does? Never heard it. Then again, can't say Kira has spent much time with him. :)

He does. Starting with "Damn!" if you shoot a gasbag on eden prime. the delivery is priceless. just like, "wtf was THAT for, commander?" and if you save him on virmire, his calling udina a b*stard is also hysterical. also the "better RTFM, ma'am" line on noveria. which isn't technically swearing, as he says the letters, not the words, but still. yeah, kaidan swears. i have yet to meet a marine who doesn't. he swears...nicely though. <-- not sure if that's an oxymoron or what.

Yay, I'm not the only one who's noticed his swearing!  It's really cute for a character who is usually so level-headed.  And I haven't noticed Ashley swear, so it's another differentiation, I think.  I've noticed him say H-E-double hockey sticks a lot.

Back to FemShep.  Congrats on receiving the reply, rynluna!
