Tis a slow day on the forums.  Might as well post pics of my 2nd fave Shepard, Shai.

Colonist/Sole Survivor  not sure of her alignment yet.  She was a paragade in ME1 but is angry at Cerberus for putting their hands on her.  TIM will find out that she's going to be hard to work with.

I checked out some of your other stuff, Chignon...you are very talented. You draw Kaidan perfectly.

Thanks, jlb.
I keep trying to do a drawing with FemShep, Kaidan and Liara since they were my main squad for most of ME1. With LotSB out, I feel very inspired to do so and have the perfect idea ("So what are you fighting for, Shepard?" and yes, I wanted Noah to answer "Kaidan.", dammit).
But unfortunately Liara and my muse just aren't cooperating. Posted Image

Yeah, I heard about that...it sucks you couldn't answer 'Kaidan'.

I would be interested to see how you draw Liara, though.  I think you would do a great job.  But the muse!

Cerberus goofed up during her surgery.  She has another reason to be mad at them now.

What sitting animation are you talking about?

Was playing LotSB with my MShep. Have to say, although I appreciate Meer's efforts, Hale is just so expressive!

During the car chase: When Liara's shouting, "Truck! Truck!" And Shep's going, "I know! I know!" Hale's delivery of the final, "I know!" is so much more expressive. Meer says it as if, "okay, there's a truck, we'll be fine," whereas Hale's delivery conveys that, "Thanks, Captain Obvioius, now shut up!" FemShep's voice suits the situation so much more.

Should go more towards the Renegade side, the game actually works pretty well as a very Anti-Cerberus renegade. You get points for bad mouthing Cerberus in front of Kelly and being rude to Jacob because he's Cerberus, plus during the Collector ship mission you can really tear into Cerberus and TIM.

Pretty cool secondary Shep at any rate, I just took my main and respeced her as an Infiltrator mostly to use Sniper Rifles and wear a cool visor all the time. I know it's not a "Sniper" specific thing but it looks really Sniper-y and not Vanguard-y.

Also after the Alliance uniforms I really like using Liara's lab coat from ME1, it's really nice on Shep.

I briefly played a male shep this afternoon (for the first time, ever, in all my ME playing history). It was bad. So bad, in fact, I kept laughing. :) I constantly felt I was being trapped inside the wrong body (and no, LOL, I don't have such issues is RL). Mark Meer's performance is hollow; his delivery is bland and flat, devoid of any real emotion. It's like he just quickly read his lines, picked up his paycheck, and left.

I was actually a feeling a bit embarrassed (for Bioware, that is). All y'all really need to get Femshep on the cover of your game, and give Jennifer Hale the public credit she's due! I can't for the life of me fathom how anyone can play a male shep for real. His performance is so barren, so two-dimensional and sterile, it hurts. I really had to stop playing him.

Now, repeat after rynluna, All hail Jennifer Hale!

I personally don't think Meer's performance is horrible, per say, but Hale's definitely got the perfect strong, expressive voice for an empowered female hero.
And I don't mind playing one particular MShep (Venezio) because I made him good looking. ^.^ But I definitely feel more comfy playing FemShep. I feel more connected to FemShep. I'm sure I would analyse that more if I was in a gender studies class at university.
Maybe BioWare wanted Meer to play Shep as a stoic male. He did express more emotion in LotSB. And I did like him as the elf in DA:O. But really, FemShep is a rocking hero.

FemShep is always number one for me. But I have to say that MShep isn't that bad. I didn't like Meer's delivery in the first game, but it improved some in ME2 and I found it improved even more in LOTSB. I'll always prefer Hale's performance over Meer's. But I don't find him terrible. Then maybe I'm just partial to the one MShep I made.

So I just finished LotSB tonight with a Liara romance save. And as it happens I finally decided to act on my personal loathing for Subject Zero, so I didn't upgrade the Normandy's armor just so I could watch her blow up.

*ahem* anyways. There is the bit in the conversation Shep has with Liara aboard the Normandy afterward where Shep actually gets to express concern about the losses taken during the mission and a grim realization that it will take even more to beat the Reapers. Hale's delivery of the simple words: "How many will be enough?" is just wonderful. It's exactly the kind of emotions I've been wanting Shepard to express ever since Virmire.

Nice surprise, and all I had to do to get it was kill off a character I didn't like ;-)

To be fair to Meer, he is a good voice actor and a very funny standup comedian as well.  His performance of the Biotic God volus in ME2 stands out as proof of this, and he also played Tug in Leliana's Song, which floored me because he was completely unrecognizable based on his Mass Effect performances.  I don't know why he plays Shepard so flat, but there are occasions where his delivery fits the situation better than Hale's (they're rare, but they exist).  The Renegade intimidation option for the turian guarding the quarantine zone on Omega comes to mind... for some reason, Hale's attempt at sounding menacing doesn't really fit the businesslike tone of the conversation as well as Meer's straighter delivery.  Nevertheless, whenever real emotion is called for, like Shepard chewing out the Admiralty Board, there is really no comparison.  I think the best example of this is actually the sequence with Shepard getting drunk in the Dark Star on the Citadel; with Hale's voice work for each new line of dialogue, you can hear her getting progessively sloshed, whereas Meer's acting is played completely straight until the "thing the stuff goes in" line, which he slurs through as if he'd been swimming in a vat of Jack Daniels.  Overall, Hale's work is more subtle and realistic.  It's disappointing, because I know Meer can do better.

I would like to play through once as a manShep... I just wish that he didn't sound like he had a perpetual head cold.

Reversable cover is a good idea. They have a default femshep, why not use her? At the very least to stop our nagging

With the femhawke thing, did bioware actually intend to release pictures of her or did the people who were demanding to see her make the difference?

If so, we all need to up our game!

Wow! That was him too? He certainly voiced that Volus perfectly. Yeah, kinda makes you wonder why he couldn't be bothered doing the same for male shep.

Also, I didn't really mean to come off as dissing Meer per se. It's just that, after having played Femshep for so long, going 'back' to male shep really is a significant step down. It's like once the natives have seen big-screen TV's, you can't really go back to selling them shiny mirrors any more. I've simply grown so attached to Jennifer Hale (in a non-creepy way), that I've past the point of no return.
